My CEO Boss Is A Masked Internet Sensation-Chapter 260: Is He Single?
Chapter 260: Is He Single?
(Arata)
"Callum, just place them aside and come sit," I calmly said, understanding what was happening.
He nodded and sat on the opposite side of me, putting everything neatly on the table.
Roshra watched him intently while I fixed my attention towards her and asked.
"Did Karsten put you up on this? He sent all that? Didn’t he?"
She sheepishly smiled. "Of course not. I wasn’t going to come empty-handed. Just smell the blue roses; they have such a refreshing, unique fragrance; red is so common." She dramatically waved her hand and I had to purse my lips.
Roshra had the dramatics and the flair.
Callum awkwardly coughed from my side and her curious eyes travelled to him. I felt the need to introduce them.
"Roshra, that’s Callum, my close friend and my Baba’s right-hand man in the office." Callum raised his hand and said.
"Hello!"
Roshra formed an O shape with her lips and wriggled her fingers at him. Expensive rings decorated her long fingers as she had removed the gloves.
"And, Callum, this is Roshra. Karsten’s sister."
Both of them offered nods of acknowledgement to each other.
Callum’s phone rang, and he excused himself to answer it and stepped out. Roshra’s eyes watched him leave until the door closed behind him.
Turning towards me, she excitedly asked with her hands clasped.
"Your friend is handsome. Is he single?" Eyes twinkling with excitement.
I knew she was up to no good. Karsten, that manipulative ass must have put her up to this.
"Roshra, he is a good man. Please, don’t use him for your brother’s personal gains," I requested, shaking my head. "I know why you arrived within an hour of him being here."
Roshra leaned back, placing her hand dramatically on her heart and shaking her head.
"No, I am genuinely curious. I mean, look at that ass and build. Who can resist that?"
I narrowed my eyes on her. "Don’t you have a boyfriend?"
She deflated like a flat tyre; abhorrence crawled on her face as she snorted.
"Fucking pathetic asshole..." and then she spent the next 15 minutes cursing him and laying out his history of cheating on her and how she exacted her revenge on him.
"I am so sorry, Roshra. Seriously, you don’t deserve this. And the way you paid him back."
"Yeah! He had it coming. But enough talking about that asshole. Tell me how your recovery is?"
She leaned in and took my hand in hers. A faint but genuine smile decorated her lips.
"Well, I am now scared of unknown men, especially those who smile too brightly. And somehow, I am afraid of standing up and walking; I don’t know from where that fear crept in, but yeah."
I paused and let out a dry chuckle. Roshra smiled sympathetically and gently squeezed my hand.
"I am also seeing a psychiatrist, almost daily. Talking about my feelings and all. All the while, I am getting all these beautiful flowers and gifts, so not bad." I tried to smile through the pain.
"You are such a resilient girl. I saw that spirit of yours when we first met and you have proven what a Queen you are. I am proud of you, Arata. Seriously, if I had been in your shoes, I wouldn’t have survived." She blinked back tears.
"Situation makes you bolder. Survival instincts help you stay alive." Horrors of what they did to me surfaced again and I had to keep taking calming breaths to not lose myself in that dark place again.
"He and Urisa will rot in hell. I never fancied her, she was too clingy but I was always friendly because of brother and Ma’s sake. Glad she showed her true colours before it was too late." Roshra shook her head and leaned closer. She sandwiched my hand between hers.
"And, Karsten. He almost lost his mind when you were missing. He stopped eating, drinking and even smoking."
I tried to gulp but something got stuck in my throat. Roshra continued her little speech.
"I know, my brother is not the perfect man. He can be controlling, manipulative and assertive. He can be an ass but believe me when I say this. He loves you, Arata. Selflessly and deeply from his soul. Just give him one more chance. Please."
I knew if I tried to speak, my voice would most probably break, but Karsten always knew how to play smart. He had sent his sister to plead his case. ƒreewebɳovel.com
"I need space, Roshra. He has hurt me too deeply. I am not ready for a relationship. My mind is messed up," I tried to explain and she sadly nodded.
"I know, I know. But whenever you are, just turn back and look at him, at least once. He is hurting, he won’t say but he is hurting very deeply for all his wrong choices and the aftermath."
Roshra would have continued but Stella, Zaylen and Callum entered the room, bringing me food.
Seeing them return, Roshra softly smiled and put on her gloves. I made introductions and they greeted each other.
"It was very nice meeting you all. I have to hurry back now. If you need anything, please call me, Arata." Roshra’s cunning eyes swept towards all of us and lingered on Callum for more than necessary.
He politely smiled in return while Zaylen and Stella exchanged glances.
Once she was gone all eyes focused on me.
"Was it only me or was she checking Callum out?" Stella asked, helping me sit up so I could eat.
Zaylen placed the small table in front, filling it up with food. Callum watched me from the sidelines while arranging all the flowers in the vases.
"Yes, she asked if he was single," I answered with a cheeky smile and a shrug.
"Woah!" Zaylen took a second to pause and shot a look at Callum, making his ear tips turn red. He focused on the flowers.
"So all of us are now attracting Mafia family members," Stella joked, handing me a spoon and I laughed.
"She has a twin brother if you are interested."
Burst of laughter followed my words.
"If Dad heard us, all of us would be in serious, serious trouble," Zaylen shook his head, flopping on the chair.
"Yeah! Keep me away." Callum raised his hands, too, and after a long time, I relaxed, and a genuine smile graced my lips.
They never ceased to make me laugh.
