My Blood Legacy: Bloodlines-Chapter 27: Chysis’s intentions
That room had basically become an area where a discussion about harems was taking place, and it had gotten way out of control.
For Victor, this could even be a good thing! But if we’re talking about attracting attention and creating conflict... Holy shit! He was creating hell on earth just by getting involved with not one, not two, but three—NO! Who was he trying to fool? His mother was another crazy one! After that apron, who would be next? Lingerie? Nude? There were four women over a thousand years old!!
He didn’t even know what to do, how did it get to this point? No, another thing, there’s something even worse. What the hell did that woman do when she awakened his bloodline? Did she put aphrodisiacs in his blood? In his personality? Why were so many hot women throwing themselves at him?!
He lived a petty, disgusting, and hopeless life. Now that he’s been reborn, he’s got a libidinous free pass?
’What the hell did this Morgana Scarlet do to me?’ He questioned, seeing Chysis arguing with her mistress about how she could steal her grandson like that, while Carmilla tried to explain that it was Victor who forced her to marry him and that she was only reaping the rewards!
Scarlett tried to talk to the two of them, but it was simply impossible, since Chysis didn’t want to listen to her because she was just ’some brat.’
"P-people..." Victor said hesitantly, "There are plenty of Victors for everyone, you don’t need all this, you know?" He questioned.
It was the best way to say, "Screw it all, I’ll just accept it," that he could think of. After all, if he just gave them everything they wanted, everyone would be happy and he would be at peace with himself.
Chysis looked at him, still with teary eyes, "Damn, I just wanted~"
"Please, Grandma, I met you today. Let’s take it easy." He said politely, showing a noble side. "Let’s get back to the main subject, shall we? Why did you call me here? I know you caused a problem in the palace."
Chysis looked at him and saw that he was a little serious; she found it cute, of course, and nodded, standing up and running her hand along his neck, as if to crack it. She observed him for a moment and began.
"I killed a lot of good people after I found out about the injustice," Chysis said calmly. "I can say that of the clans within the House of Valentine, I killed about 6% in the last two days."
Victor remained silent... 6% was a lot, especially in such a vast House, with so many subordinate clans.
"Well, what happened was this," she began, speaking like a teacher, "I went to question why a child was being sent to solitary confinement after what happened."
She looked at Victor, "It turns out that someone from the Nightshade family thought it was very funny to expand the crime from ’disrespecting an instructor’ to ’Attempted murder aggravated to the extreme, with torture.’"
Victor stared wide-eyed, "Well... I kind of disfigured him, didn’t I?"
Chysis looked at Victor, "He healed in 17 minutes according to the medical report. Even if you tried really hard, you couldn’t kill him with a broken wooden sword and a few angry punches."
"S-speaking like that," Victor thought, it was true. Aside from humiliating, beating, disfiguring, and actually trying to kill him... He wasn’t even close to killing an adult vampire like Ethan Cross.
Chysis then continued: "In any case, the Nightshade Clan and the current regent of the Crimson Lotus Palace committed a crime. When I went to the corrections office, the royal guards turned on me, so I exterminated them all, walked over to the Nightshade Clan, and punished them." She spoke calmly as if it were just another ordinary day.
"People forget that I have the highest rank in the army. I should start reminding them that I’m the one in charge here," she concluded.
"But... that doesn’t explain one thing," he said, trying to keep his thoughts organized. "If you killed part of the Nightshade Clan and a bunch of royal guards... why am I free now?"
"Because chaos is a wonderful tool," she said. She began to walk slowly through the hall as she spoke, like a general giving a strategy lesson.
"When I started beheading people, the palace administration panicked," she explained calmly. "When an army marshal starts killing nobles... people start asking questions."
Chysis continued: "So an official investigation was opened."
She raised a finger. "Investigation for abuse of authority."
Another finger. "Manipulation of accusations."
Another. "And procedural fraud."
Chysis stopped walking and looked directly at him.
"As you might imagine..." she said calmly. "...the Cross family is right in the middle of all this." Silence returned to the room.
Scarlett whistled softly. "Uh."
Carmilla raised an eyebrow.
Victor slowly began to understand.
"You’re saying..." he spoke slowly... "...that the investigation is going after Ethan Cross?"
Chysis shook her head. "Not just him."
She crossed her arms. "The entire Cross Clan is being investigated."
Victor’s eyes widened. "That’s... one of the oldest clans of House Valentine."
"Was," Chysis corrected calmly.
Victor froze.
She continued as if commenting on the weather.
"If the investigation confirms manipulation of the accusation against a direct member of the Valentine bloodline..." she said. "...their clan could be officially extinct."
Scarlett grinned widely.
"Damn." Carmilla let out a small nasal laugh.
Victor just stared at Chysis. "...You started an entire political war... because of me."
Chysis tilted her head. "...No." She gave a small smile. "I started an entire political war..." She pointed at him. "...because someone dared to touch my grandson."
Scarlett raised her hand. "I really like this old lady."
Victor thought... but... something was wrong... "Grandma... even so, wasn’t it Sable who said the palaces wouldn’t encourage and support the Cross family anymore? That’s kind of contradictory. If they didn’t support them... how could she decree this absurd sentence if they weren’t going to help them?" "Corruption," Carmilla commented calmly, looking at her nails. "You claim to be officially against it, using it as a smokescreen to help them behind the scenes. But I don’t think it’s that bad."
Chysis sat on the edge of the table and crossed her legs. "Yes, you’re right. But that only applies to the Nightshade Clan; the other two ruling Clans in the training area, the Silverbloods and the Thornes, are now in a council meeting to decide what to do about this internal corruption."
Victor sighed. "So basically... a simple arrest resulted in a gigantic internal investigation... Holy shit." He cursed.
"...So basically..." he murmured slowly. "...a simple arrest resulted in a gigantic internal investigation... Holy shit."
Silence hung for a moment.
Scarlett looked amused.
Carmilla looked bored.
Chysis looked perfectly satisfied.
Victor raised his head again.
"Okay... but what now?" he asked. "Because... okay, investigation, council, politics... fine." He vaguely pointed to the floor. "But the Cross family still exists." Another gesture. "And I kind of... crushed their heir’s pride in front of half the training area."
Scarlett raised a finger.
"Technically you also tried to kill him. At least that’s what I understood. I wasn’t there."
Victor grimaced. "Thanks for the reminder."
He looked back at Chysis.
"So I ask again..." he said. "What now?"
Chysis shrugged.
Literally.
A simple, relaxed gesture, like someone talking about the weather forecast.
"Now?" she said.
She rested her elbow on the table.
"...Now you deal with it."
Victor blinked.
"...I what?"
"Hang in there," she repeated calmly.
She began to explain as if she were describing something extremely obvious.
"The Cross family can’t do anything officially while the investigation is open," she said. "But that doesn’t mean they’ll stay quiet."
Victor sighed. "...Of course not."
Chysis nodded.
"Clan pride," she said. "Reputation. Politics."
She rested her chin on her hand.
"They’ll try something."
Victor was silent for a few seconds.
"...And you?"
Chysis raised an eyebrow.
"Me?"
"Yes," said Victor. "You just killed six percent of House Valentine and started an internal investigation."
He crossed his arms.
"You clearly have no problem resolving things through violence."
Chysis smiled slightly.
"True."
Victor narrowed his eyes.
"...So?" She sighed.
"Then I can’t get involved," she replied.
Victor froze.
"...What do you mean?"
Chysis tilted her head slightly.
"I’ve already made enough noise," she explained. "If I keep interfering directly... this will turn into a military crisis."
She made a small gesture with her hand.
"And then it won’t be a clan problem anymore."
Another gesture.
"It will be a war within House Valentine."
Victor remained silent.
"...Ah."
"That’s right," she said.
Scarlett crossed her arms.
"So basically you caused the chaos... and now you’re going to watch?"
Chysis looked at her.
"...Yes."
Scarlett opened her mouth.
Closed it.
"...Okay, fair enough."
Victor exhaled through his nose.
"So that’s why you called me here," he said.
Chysis nodded slowly.
"Yes."
She grew a little more serious.
"I was worried."
Victor blinked.
"Worried?"
"You’re young," she said. "Inexperienced. You just awakened the bloodline."
She tilted her head.
"I thought you were going to die in a week."
Scarlett raised her hand.
"Honestly, I thought so too."
Victor ignored her.
Chysis continued:
"So I intended to train you."
Victor blinked.
"...Train?"
"Yes," she said. "Personally."
She crossed her legs as she looked him up and down, assessing him.
"Combat."
Another look.
"Blood control."
Another.
"Predator instinct."
Victor opened his mouth.
"That sounds like—"
Chysis raised her hand.
"But."
Victor shut his mouth.
She looked at Carmilla.
Then at Scarlett.
Then back at Victor.
"...now I’m not so worried anymore."
Scarlett narrowed her eyes.
"...Why?"
Chysis answered calmly:
"Because apparently you’ve already acquired two pets."
Silence.
Scarlett froze.
Carmilla smiled.
Victor winked.
Scarlett pointed to herself.
"...Pets?"
Chysis nodded casually.
"Yes."
She pointed first at Carmilla.
"A former vampire queen with thousands of years of experience."
Then she pointed at Scarlett.
"And a little incendiary psychopath."
Scarlett exploded.
"I AM NO ONE’S PET!"
Carmilla gave a low laugh.
"Technically..." she said, amused. "...we drank his blood."
Scarlett turned to her.
"YOU’RE NOT HELPING!"
Chysis completely ignored the outburst.
She just looked at Victor again.
"...With those two around..." she said calmly.
"...any idiot who tries to kill you will probably die first."
Scarlett was still huffing.
"I’M NOT A PET!"
Chysis tilted her head.
"...An emotional pet, then."
"AAAAAA!"
