My Antique Mirror Is A Portal To Another World-Chapter 665: What Is The Price?
Old General Tao and his team followed the young general and walked into the village in silence.
Along the way, Old General Tao scanned and observed the surroundings. Unfortunately, he couldn’t find any traces of life—only desolation and a gloomy atmosphere shrouding the entire village.
After rushing for more than twenty minutes, one of the ministers could no longer hold on and fell heavily on the ground.
Thud!
"Lord Ji!" exclaimed the minister running beside him.
Hearing the exclamation, the young general paused in his tracks. Turning around, he saw the oldest minister, Lord Ji, panting heavily as he lay on the dirty ground.
Seeing this, the young general hurried over. Squatting beside Lord Ji, he checked his head, then his body.
After making sure that he hadn’t injured himself further from the fall, the young general helped Lord Ji up from the ground.
"Lord Ji, are you alright?" he asked worriedly.
With the young general supporting his weak body, Lord Ji slightly shook his head in response, too exhausted to even answer.
Realizing that Lord Ji’s condition was worse than he had thought, the young general quickly said, "I will carry Lord Ji. We must hurry and group up with the others."
Hearing this, Old General Tao stepped forward to help. With his assistance, Lord Ji climbed onto the young general’s back.
Carrying Lord Ji, the young general said, "This way."
Worried about Lord Ji’s condition, he increased his speed while glancing back at the other three ministers from time to time to check on them.
After running for another half an hour, they left the village and entered the barren mountain nearby.
The young general vigilantly moved among the dried trees with familiarity.
Before long, they arrived in front of a small cave.
The young general held Lord Ji with one arm while moving the shrubs aside. Seeing this, Old General Tao and the other three ministers quickly stepped forward to help clear the branches.
After working for a while, they uncovered a small opening.
"Follow me." With that, the young general stepped into the dark, narrow passage.
"Be careful with your heads," he reminded them as they walked further inside.
After an unknown amount of time had passed, Old General Tao and the ministers saw a dim light in the distance.
"We are almost there," the young general said as he led the way.
A few moments later, they finally walked out of the narrow passage. Because of the sudden brightness, everyone closed their eyes for a few seconds.
"Old General Tao, you are finally here," someone said with a hint of relief in his hoarse voice.
Hearing this, Old General Tao opened his eyes and saw that more than half of the generals and ministers had already gathered there.
"Lord Sun, it’s good that all of you can make it out alive." Old General Tao greeted him as he approached the group.
While they were greeting each other, the young general suddenly cried out in panic, "Lord Ji!"
Hearing his panicked voice, everyone quickly surrounded him.
Looking at the unconscious Lord Ji, the young general hurriedly opened his clothes. The moment he pulled them aside, everyone gasped in shock.
Staring at the ghastly wound on Lord Ji’s chest that was still bleeding black blood, the young general took a sharp breath.
Turning to Old General Tao, he asked urgently, "Old General Tao, how did Lord Ji get this injury?"
Clenching his fists, Old General Tao replied, "On our way escaping the imperial capital city, Lord Ji was injured by the rebel general."
Hearing this, the young general and the other generals cursed under their breath.
"Despicable! He actually smeared his sword with poison!"
Looking at their grim expressions, one of the ministers from the neutral faction said worriedly, "We didn’t bring anything with us. How can we treat Lord Ji’s wounds?"
At his question, everyone fell silent. In an instant, the atmosphere grew heavier.
Just as they thought they could only watch Lord Ji die in front of them, a cold yet playful voice echoed in the large cave.
"What’s the big deal? It’s just an ordinary Seven Blooming Poison."
The moment they heard this, the generals drew their swords at once and formed a circle, shielding the ministers in the center.
"Who?! Come out!" Old General Tao demanded coldly.
They waited for a few seconds, but no one responded. Just as they thought the intruder had left, footsteps echoed through the cave.
Tap... tap... tap...
The sound of the footsteps sent shivers down the generals’ spines. As war veterans, all of them could sense the deathly aura filling the air.
After a brief moment of tense silence, a man dressed in black, wearing a mask and hood, appeared from the shadows.
Standing a few meters away, the masked man slowly said, "Greetings, generals and ministers. I hope I didn’t disturb your discussion."
Old General Tao scanned him from head to toe and noticed the black token hanging from his waist. The moment he saw the three words carved on it, his expression darkened.
Noticing this, the masked man chuckled and said leisurely, "Looks like Old General Tao knows who I am."
Old General Tao stared at the masked man vigilantly and asked, "Why has the Hong Sha Pavilion’s envoy appeared here?"
When the other generals and ministers heard this, they were shocked.
Although the imperial court had never had any dealings with the Hong Sha Pavilion, its reputation was widely known throughout the Central Continent.
Seeing that everyone recognized the Hong Sha Pavilion, the envoy smiled slightly and said, "Since everyone knows about us, I won’t beat around the bush."
Pointing at the unconscious Lord Ji, he added, "I can save him."
Staring at the envoy, Old General Tao asked, "What is the price?"
Spreading his arms, the envoy calmly replied, "I am in a good mood today. It’s free of charge."
The moment he said this, disbelief and doubt flickered across Old General Tao’s, the other generals’, and ministers’ eyes.
