Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 97: If Divorce, Then Divorce
In the evening, Shane called to say he had something to do and wouldn’t be joining her for dinner at home.
Audrey Sutton’s mood plummeted.
She took a taxi back to The Suttons, and the first thing her mom asked was, "Why didn’t Shane come back with you?"
"He’s busy with work."
"Just got back today and already busy? No matter how busy, he still has to eat."
"He doesn’t need to eat."
Hazel Yates patted Audrey on the head, smiled, and asked, "Had a fight?"
Audrey shook her head and walked into the house.
"You should act less willfully. Shane has a good temper, but he can’t always indulge you."
Audrey grumbled with discontent, "I sometimes wonder who’s really your child, always speaking up for him."
Hazel Yates: "Is he really busy, or is he just mad at you and not coming back with you?"
"He’s really busy. If you don’t believe me, call him and ask. But he’ll come to pick me up later, so you can save some food for him."
"Alright, look at you, still thinking about your husband."
Audrey followed Hazel into the kitchen, took a drink from the fridge, opened the cap, took a sip, and then asked, "Mom... what if I end up divorcing him?"
Hazel paused her action of serving rice, frowned, and asked, "Why talk about divorce when everything’s fine? Are you two having issues?"
Audrey nodded slightly and lowered her gaze. "No, it’s just that with so much time ahead, anything could happen."
"Why not think more positively? No one knows what the future holds, but when things are good, you should cherish and enjoy them instead of worrying about changes, or you won’t even enjoy the present, let alone the future." 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
Audrey thought about it and realized it made sense.
If they work hard at their marriage, who knows what the future might hold? But if she keeps worrying every day about divorce, the end of the marriage won’t be far off.
With this insight, Audrey felt her heart clear up.
As long as, at this moment, they’re still together, there’s no need to overthink the rest.
Around 9 p.m., Shane drove over.
Audrey had another meal with him, then took General and Fourth Brother’s cat with her into the car.
In the car, Audrey sat in the passenger seat, humming along with the car music.
Shane glanced at her sideways. Although he didn’t know why she was happy, his lips unintentionally curled up slightly.
On the way back from Driftwood Isle, she had been so gloomy that it worried him.
He found that her emotions were always written on her face, but he couldn’t figure out the reasons behind her mood changes.
On September 1st, Audrey returned to school and became a junior student.
In the dorm, only Barry Barrett and Flora were there; Seraphina Vaughn was still traveling abroad.
"Anna, you seem to have had a wonderful honeymoon! Your face is glowing; it seems like Third Young Master has watered this little flower quite well."
Audrey shot Flora a glance, organizing her desk while saying, "What honeymoon? We just went back home to visit my grandparents."
Barry immediately pulled out his phone to reveal the news: "Still denying it? Look here, all these netizens spotted you and Third Young Master honeymooning in these picturesque places."
Flora said, "For someone as busy as the Third Young Master, finding time to spend the summer with you, where could you find a man as good as that?"
Barry eyed Audrey’s stomach slyly, lowered her voice, and asked, "Is there a bun in the oven?"
Audrey raised her hand and slapped Barry’s forehead. "What nonsense are you talking?"
Flora: "You’ve been married for two or three months now. With Third Young Master’s frequency, shouldn’t there be some news from your belly by now?"
"I’m still in school. My mom said to think about kids after graduation; there’s no rush now."
Flora: "I think it’s better to have kids earlier. You still have two years before graduation. A lot can change in that time. Not to sound negative, but love has an expiration date. Once the initial thrill is gone, if appealing others appear around both of you, there’s a high chance of a marriage change."
Barry nodded in agreement: "I think Flora makes a valid point. If you two have a child, it adds a sense of responsibility to the marriage. Even if the passion for marriage fades, you’d maintain it for the child and the family."
Flora: "Marriage is about boiling love into life. If you can get through it, maybe you two can live steadily for a lifetime. If not, you’ll go your separate ways."
Barry: "My parents always say that if it wasn’t for me, they would’ve divorced several times."
Audrey thought about what the two said but responded firmly, "I won’t use a child to maintain a marriage. If he really falls in love with someone else, then we’ll divorce. I’m not desperate."
Barry gave her a disdainful side-eye. "You’re just a stubborn duck with a tough mouth."
Flora chuckled and said, "So does that mean I have a chance to become Mrs. Warner? If you don’t care, let those of us who do care have him."
Audrey grabbed a plush toy from the table and threw it at her. "Beware of friends, fire, and thieves!"
After the topic ended, Audrey actually started thinking about having kids.
She felt that if she had a child with him now, it would make the marriage more solid.
But currently, they haven’t even kissed, let alone creating kids.
How to contrive a surprise pregnancy?
No, no, she must hold her reserve. Unless he says he loves her, she won’t recklessly sleep with him, much less have his child!
A marriage supported only by children isn’t what she wanted.
Even if she could keep him physically, it would be in vain without his heart.
"Ding-dong—"
While thinking about him, he texted: Come down.
Seeing those three words, Audrey was momentarily confused and replied: Did you send the wrong person?
The next second, six words popped up: Audrey, come down.
Audrey got up confused, ran to the dorm’s outside corridor, and looked downstairs. She saw a familiar black car parked by the roadside.
She immediately ran downstairs, walked to the Jeep, and saw him roll down the window.
"Why are you here?" Audrey asked.
"You left something behind," he said, reaching out from inside the car with a card.
Audrey looked and found it was her campus card.
Even though it wasn’t a big deal to be without the card for a day, she didn’t expect him to drive over just to bring it to her.
"Thanks." Audrey smiled, took it, and then asked, "Why aren’t you at work at this time?"
"I’m going now. Where do you want to have lunch?"
Audrey asked, "Do you have any lunch appointments? If not, I’ll cook and bring it to you."
Shane thought for a moment and said, "No, do you not have classes today?"
"Today is registration, no classes."
"Alright, then you bring it over. You might need to buy some groceries from the supermarket," he said, transferring two thousand to her for shopping. "I’m off."
Audrey nodded with an obedient smile, waved at him, and only turned back to the dorm after watching his car drive away.
