Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 599: Health-Conscious Elders
When Faye Xavier hurriedly rushed to the company, the meeting had just ended.
Watching people gradually emerge from the meeting room, Faye began to calculate in his mind what pleasing words he could say to ensure his dear Master Shane wouldn’t dock his pay.
He felt he was too aggrieved already; it was sad enough and if the bonus were gone too, his life would turn utterly bleak in an instant.
Once most people had left the meeting room, Faye sidled up to the door and peeked inside.
Shane Warner and Julian Bishop were still inside, seemingly discussing something, while Morgan Quinn sat nearby, gently tapping on his phone screen.
"Ding-dong—"
The phone in Faye’s pocket rang quietly, masked by the movement of people at the entrance.
Faye took out his phone and saw a message from Morgan Quinn: Where the hell have you been? The meeting’s over. Is that romantic haven making you not care about this month’s bonus?
After reading the message, Faye awkwardly coughed lightly, stepped into the meeting room, and greeted Shane Warner and Julian Bishop with a cheerful smile: "Master Shane, Mr. Bishop."
Shane Warner scrutinized Faye, and as Faye approached, slightly raised an eyebrow and coldly asked, "Where were you?"
Faye scratched his head embarrassedly and naturally wouldn’t say he was tricked by a woman, so he smiled and said, "Drank too much last night... Overslept."
Morgan Quinn grinned mischievously, "Was it too much drinking and oversleeping, or did you spend the night with that little beauty?"
Thinking about it made Faye angry; his neck still hurt now. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
Faye sat next to Morgan Quinn, pulling out a chair, and Julian Bishop suddenly asked, "Are you hurt?"
Faye was taken aback, thinking he was sore, but it wasn’t an injury; maybe Mr. Bishop had a special ability to see even this emotional injury?
Hearing Julian Bishop’s question, Morgan Quinn looked over Faye, noticing the red stain on his white shirt at the back, and joked, "Did you get your mother-in-law to tattoo you?"
"What?" Faye was confused and pulled his shirt forward, turning his head to see the red stain on the back.
He remembered there was no such thing when the hotel staff gave him the shirt.
Morgan Quinn: "Take it off and have a look."
Seeing no one else was in the meeting room, Faye took off his shirt, turned his back to them, and asked, "What is it? It doesn’t look like blood?"
"Pfft!" Morgan Quinn couldn’t help but laugh seeing the "masterpiece" on Faye’s back, "Hahaha, what deity have you provoked?"
Shane Warner and Julian Bishop remained calm, watching with no exaggerated expressions.
Seeing Morgan Quinn laughing so exaggeratedly made Faye nervous, trying to look back but unable to see what was on his back.
Morgan Quinn took out his phone and asked Faye to stand still with his back to him, snapping a photo while saying, "It actually suits you; quite simply summarizes your life."
Faye grew more curious but also had a sense of foreboding.
After hearing the shutter sound, Faye quickly leaned over to see Morgan Quinn’s phone.
On the phone, Faye’s back was captured, and though the word marks were smudged by the shirt, it wasn’t hard to make out what the words were.
Seeing the image, Faye instantly felt a rush of anger, knowing it was Jasmine Lucas’s doing without a doubt; he just wanted to find her and crush her!
"Who did you provoke?"
Faye hurriedly put on his shirt and said to Shane Warner, "Master Shane, I’d like to take a day off."
Shane Warner raised his brows, seemingly hesitating and waiting for Julian Bishop to speak.
After all, most matters concerning Starfield were handled by Julian Bishop, and Shane wasn’t sure if Faye could be granted leave.
Julian Bishop glanced at Shane Warner before saying, "There haven’t been any product samples yet; go take a day off then."
"Thank you, Mr. Bishop! Thank you, Master Shane!"
After saying his thanks, Faye quickly turned and left the meeting room in haste.
Morgan Quinn couldn’t stop laughing: "Hahaha, this cracks me up!"
Shane Warner coldly glanced at him, "Watch out, you might be next."
Morgan Quinn’s smile froze: "Shane, don’t jinx me. With my girls, it’s always consensual. Looks like Mr. Xavier messed with some innocent young lady."
Faye drove home to change into clean clothes, then realized he didn’t even have a photo of that woman and only knew her name as Jaz; he wasn’t sure of her real name.
He usually switched partners every three to five days, so he didn’t bother remembering too many names; he never cared before, and now he met a con woman!
Thinking of that bank card’s transaction records, Faye finally found out the payee was Jasmine Lucas.
...
Taking advantage of the good weather, Audrey Sutton spent the morning dealing with the garden flowers and plants, and in the afternoon, planned to go out to the baby city with Phoebe King.
Phoebe originally said she’d drive over to pick her up, but when the car arrived by the roadside, Audrey discovered that her older brother was the one in the driver’s seat.
Next, the back window rolled down, and Phoebe poked her head out to wave at Audrey Sutton: "Over here."
Audrey got in the car and asked, "Are you coming shopping with us too, big brother?"
Before Stephen Sutton could answer, Phoebe complained, "He doesn’t trust me driving, insists on taking us there. How can I refuse a free chauffeur?"
Audrey couldn’t help but quip, "They’re all the same, never trusting anything."
Stephen Sutton turned the car toward the baby city and said, "Isn’t it because you two are the ones who make us worry?"
Phoebe King remarked, "He’d rather lock me up at home all day, not going anywhere, then he’d feel at ease."
Audrey chuckled and said, "We still need to get some exercise. It’s a rare nice day; it’d be a shame not to go out and enjoy it."
Stephen Sutton: "You can shop, but don’t eat random stuff outside."
Audrey mumbled, "These two sound so similar."
Phoebe whispered into Audrey’s ear, "They are like health-conscious old men, after all."
Stephen glanced in the rearview mirror at the two of them, unable to hear their whispered conversation but knowing it was probably nothing good.
The car pulled into the baby city, and as they got out, Stephen gave them a bunch of reminders. Phoebe, finding it nagging, quickly dragged Audrey out of the car.
Stephen looked at their backs worriedly but, realizing he had class in the afternoon, didn’t linger and drove away.
It was Audrey Sutton’s first time at the baby city; naturally, the items for sale were mostly baby products, with some kids’ clothing stores. The ground floor had a sizable children’s playground, and Audrey and Phoebe planned future playdates there after their babies were born.
