Chapter 302: Chapter 302: Unable to Control My Feelings for You

Nolan Hawke nodded with a smile and politely said, "Mm, I had a great time today, thanks for celebrating my birthday with me."

Flora Lane teased, "What’s there to thank us, we’re just a bunch of third wheels?"

Nolan Hawke chuckled lightly, "That’s not the way to put it. You guys are good friends with Bear, so naturally, you’re my friends too. Sometimes when I’m busy with work, I appreciate you taking care of Bear for me."

Nolan Hawke indeed spoke well, not out of deliberate charm, but as a reflection of his emotional intelligence.

When the car arrived at the dormitory, Bear Barrett and Nolan Hawke exchanged some words of concern before getting out.

Barry Barrett: "Make sure to drink a strong cup of tea when you get back; you drank too much tonight."

Nolan Hawke smiled, "Don’t worry, I’m not drunk."

Barry Barrett was skeptical, eyeing him, "I think you’re pretty close to being drunk. Get some rest when you get back."

"You should be the one getting rest, go on, it’s so late already."

The two of them bickered fondly, like an old married couple.

As Barry Barrett and the others were watched walking into the dorm, it was getting late, so the car didn’t stay idle outside for much longer.

Then there were only Nolan Hawke, Audrey Sutton, and the driver left in the car.

Suddenly, the car went silent, and Audrey Sutton looked down at her phone, chatting with Shane Warner.

Shane Warner had asked her several times, clearly feeling she was out too late.

Audrey Sutton knew he was just concerned about her; being cared for is a precious thing.

Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed a shadow move, and she lifted her gaze from the phone to see Nolan Hawke getting up, leaving his seat in the front, bending down to sit beside her.

Audrey Sutton instinctively moved towards the window, glancing at Nolan Hawke with a puzzled look, becoming slightly wary.

Nolan Hawke smiled at her, scooting closer, his eyes hazy with a drunken look, "Audrey..."

Audrey Sutton was startled, her mind not quite processing it, as Nolan Hawke sighed, "Do you know how much I am in turmoil?"

Listening to Nolan Hawke’s seemingly nonsensical words, Audrey Sutton was at a loss.

"Bear is a good girl, and I really like her, but I don’t know why..." Nolan Hawke paused deliberately, looking back up at Audrey Sutton.

His deep, earnest gaze had a hint of drunken haze, disregarding Audrey Sutton’s stunned and confused look, Nolan Hawke continued on his own, "...I find you so beautiful. Every time I see you, I feel a special sensation, different from when I’m with Bear, unique, but it’s also tearing me apart."

"...Have you had too much to drink?" Audrey Sutton couldn’t believe what she was hearing.

Nolan Hawke laughed at himself, muttering as if to himself, "You’re good sisters with Bear, I know it’s wrong, but I can’t help but have feelings for you, and now I don’t know what to do..."

"Audrey, what do you think I should do?" Nolan Hawke asked painfully, as if in deep agony.

Audrey Sutton was dumbfounded hearing this; what she was thinking about now wasn’t how to respond to Nolan Hawke, but how to get off the car quickly.

"You might not know it, but the photos I took of you, I have them all stored on my phone. Every night when I can’t help but think of you, I pull them up to look at them, feeling both satisfied and ashamed."

"I’m obviously Bear’s boyfriend, and you’re Third Young Master’s wife, I shouldn’t be having these feelings for you, but I..."

"Stop talking!" Audrey Sutton didn’t know whether he was drunk-talking or being truthful, and she couldn’t help but interrupt him.

Nolan Hawke took a deep breath, looking at Audrey Sutton full of apologies, "...I’m sorry, I know these things are hard for you to accept, I hate myself for them too."

If it weren’t for Barry Barrett being deeply in love with Nolan Hawke, Audrey Sutton didn’t even want to exchange another word with him.

"Bear loves you deeply, so I hope you don’t let her down. If you can’t manage your emotions, please separate from her, don’t waste her time." Audrey Sutton remained rational, and after speaking, she told the driver, "Please stop at the next intersection."

The driver glanced at Nolan Hawke, as if seeking his opinion.

Nolan Hawke remained silent, as if he hadn’t heard Audrey Sutton, grabbing her hand, "Audrey, don’t hate me, okay? Give me some time to put down these inappropriate feelings."

Audrey Sutton furrowed her brows and pulled her hand away, her tone a bit harsher, "Stop the car!"

The driver glanced at Audrey Sutton grudgingly, aware of her standing, he didn’t dare to offend her.

Seeing that Nolan Hawke didn’t quite object, the driver slowed the car down, gradually stopping by the roadside.

Audrey Sutton grabbed her bag and stood, but Nolan Hawke remained seated, blocking the path, not wanting her to leave.

Audrey Sutton didn’t want to argue any further, she slightly hitched her somewhat tight dress up and stepped over Nolan Hawke’s legs.

As Audrey Sutton prepared to climb over him, Nolan Hawke reached out towards her waist, gripping it to press her down onto his lap: "Let me hold you before you go, okay?"

"Slap—" Audrey Sutton slapped Nolan Hawke’s face with the back of her hand, immediately rising from his lap, her tone furious, "Get a grip!"

Leaving those words behind, Audrey Sutton dashed to the car door like making an escape, stepping out and only feeling safe once outside.

Before closing the door, Audrey Sutton said to the still-seated, unmoving Nolan Hawke, "I’ll say it again, if you can’t bring Bear happiness, then don’t stay with her; if you continue like this, I will tell Bear everything and have her break up with you!"

With that, without waiting for Nolan Hawke’s response, Audrey Sutton slammed the car door shut and left.

Wearing high heels, she almost sprinted away, and only after putting some distance did Audrey Sutton dare to look back at the car. Seeing it drive off, she finally breathed a sigh of relief and slightly slowed her pace.

It wasn’t too far from her home, and this road was quite bustling, even at this hour, people were still coming and going on the street.

Still frightened, Audrey Sutton quickened her steps again, heading towards home.

Reflecting on what had just happened, she felt a lingering fear. If Nolan Hawke had refused to let her go, driving her somewhere else, the consequences would have been unimaginable.

She couldn’t believe it; tonight, Nolan Hawke had only just introduced Bear to his family and friends, clearly reaching the stage of discussing marriage, and when they got out of the car, they showed concern for each other. Yet, in the blink of an eye, Nolan Hawke had said such unbelievable things to her.

It was too absurd; how could such a thing happen to her?
