Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 284: I Trust You
Audrey Sutton was in the living room, opened the fridge, ate a couple of mouthfuls of fruit cocktail, played with the cat and dog, and glanced at Shane, who was tinkering outside.
She snorted coldly and went upstairs again.
Around five o’clock, between two music tracks, she heard Shane’s footsteps coming up the stairs.
Audrey immediately got up to open the door, and Shane happened to pass by her room, meeting her gaze.
Shane didn’t ask anything, Audrey went out of her way to explain: "... I’m about to go downstairs to make dinner."
"We can eat later. I’ll take a shower first." He said, taking two steps forward, then as if remembering something, he turned back and said to her, "Don’t go downstairs yet, wait for me to shower first."
Audrey paused, as if he guessed she might not resist her curiosity and sneak downstairs, he asked her again: "Did you hear me?"
"... What is there that’s so secretive?"
"Just behave, it’s a test for you, to see if you can be obedient." With that, he walked straight to his room.
Although the weather wasn’t too hot today, he had been under the sun outside all afternoon, and his white T-shirt was drenched in sweat.
The damp white T-shirt had a natural transparent effect, but it was loose, and didn’t cling tightly to him, so only a faint flesh tone could be seen.
Once Shane entered his room and closed the door, only then did Audrey reluctantly shift her gaze away.
She’s not some lecher, staring at someone like that.
She hurriedly shook her head and glanced downstairs.
She hadn’t been so curious about what’s downstairs before, what could possibly be so secretive about that luxurious dog house?
Looking at Shane’s tightly closed room door, she thought she could sneak down for a peek now, and he wouldn’t know.
But then she considered if he might have installed cameras in the hallway to monitor her.
Conflicted, Audrey chose to listen to him.
Anyway, he showers quickly, waiting a few more minutes wouldn’t hurt.
Audrey shut the door and returned to her own room. To kill time, she opened the match-three game on her phone, lying on the carpet with her legs up playing the game.
With her attention diverted by the game, time seemed to pass faster.
When she noticed the door was opened by someone else, Shane was already pushing the door in.
If she remembered correctly, he didn’t seem to have knocked first.
Shane stood by the door looking at her playing the game with her legs up, wearing a dress but paying no mind to her posture.
"White." He said.
Audrey was momentarily stunned before realizing what he meant, immediately lowering her raised legs, sitting up straight to fix her dress: "You’re such a rogue!"
He beckoned her over with a hand, patiently: "Come here."
Audrey eyed him, not knowing what he was up to, puzzled while her feet already started moving towards him.
She was halfway to him when he suddenly walked into the room, stopped by her wardrobe, opened the closet door, scanned inside, then took out a silk scarf, folding it while softly ordering her: "Close your eyes."
Audrey was initially confused, then smiled, obediently closing her eyes but not her mouth, teasing him purposefully: "It’s not even dark yet, what are you up to?"
Shane realized this girl was getting increasingly bold.
Audrey felt him move behind her, the cool, smooth touch of the scarf fell over her eyes.
He folded the scarf to the right width, just enough to cover her eyes, then tied it behind her head.
"What’s so mysterious about this?"
He remained silent, only after he tied the scarf, Audrey raised her hand intending to adjust it herself, but he probably thought she wanted to remove it, so he caught her hand.
"I’m not going to peek, it’s just pressing on my ears, I want to move it."
Upon hearing this, Shane helped adjust the scarf for her.
"Better now?"
Audrey nodded with a smile, full of anticipation: "Where are we going?"
"Just follow me."
In darkness, there’s always a fear of the unknown, even in a familiar place.
One of her hands was held by Shane, the other reaching out like a blind person to feel her way forward, nervously saying: "Hold onto me, don’t let me fall."
She couldn’t see his expression through the blindfold, only heard his soft reminder: "Going downstairs."
Audrey immediately stopped, reaching out to feel, like touching for the handrail beside the stairs.
Seeing her hand grazing past the handrail multiple times, Shane couldn’t bear it any longer, finally holding her hand onto it.
She smiled, seeming to enjoy the fresh mystery Shane orchestrated, holding the handrail carefully step by step going downstairs.
Not even halfway down the stairs, she already lost her sense of direction, completely unsure where she was.
But she didn’t feel much anxiety, as he kept holding her hand, guiding her where to step next.
After stepping down a few more stairs, feeling the ground turn soft underfoot, like stepping onto grass, Audrey asked him: "Is this the garden?"
Throughout the way, she kept voicing various guesses and questions, her mouth never stopping.
But Shane remained calm, never giving her any hints.
Finally, the footsteps stopped, Audrey curiously reached out, only touching air.
"Don’t move." With that, Shane released her hand, causing Audrey to flinch: "Where are you going?"
She feared he had brought her to some unfamiliar place and left her there.
But she thought they hadn’t walked far, they should still be at home, smelling flowers, she confirmed it was the home garden.
Yet the moment he let go of her hand, her heart still felt a pang of emptiness.
But within two seconds, he returned to her side, placing his hands on her shoulders, gently turned her half a circle, tenderly urging her: "Sit down."
Again she tried reaching out, but Shane grabbed her hand: "Don’t you trust me? Just sit down, it’s fine."
"I trust you." She smiled, saying these three words, then slowly bent her knees, lowering herself, and soon felt her bottom touch a plank.
The plank wasn’t steady, wobbling slightly.
He guided her hands to either side: "Hold on."
Audrey felt the cold touch of what she was holding, seemed like iron chain.
"Hold tight."
Before she could savor the feeling, her whole body began swaying back and forth on the plank dramatically.
After swinging twice, Audrey recalled the familiar sensation.
It was a swing.
Once she adapted to the swinging, Audrey freed a hand, took off the scarf covering her eyes.
The scenery before her wobbled with the swing, initially a bit tense, now she completely relaxed, smiles on her face grew even more charming.
She turned her head to look at Shane behind, pushing the swing, her eyes brimming with joy and unhidden love: "You lied to me about the dog house!"
