Chapter 272: Chapter 272: Good Night

On the other end of the phone, Shane Warner was silent for two seconds and then said, "Go ahead, but the filming must be scheduled for after I return. If you must go, I’ll go with you."

"Alright, then I’ll talk to them about it tomorrow."

Audrey Sutton felt that telling him everything was the right decision.

If she explained things honestly, he could help her come up with ideas, and if he still disagreed with her going, she could use "my husband doesn’t agree" as an excuse to refuse them.

This was much better than hiding her collaboration with Nolan Hawke from Shane Warner, only for Shane Warner to find out and give her the cold shoulder in anger.

She realized that, as long as she didn’t hide things from him, he was quite understanding.

She was a bit surprised that he agreed to her meeting with Nolan Hawke and the others for dinner the next day.

"Back to that question, do you miss me?"

Audrey Sutton didn’t expect him to circle back around after such a conversation, but remembering her determination to express her feelings more, after a brief two-second silence, she shyly said, "Yes, I miss you."

Shane Warner chuckled with satisfaction: "Turn on the video."

"Why?"

He didn’t answer but instead turned on his camera first, and Audrey Sutton’s phone screen immediately showed his face.

He appeared to be sitting on a hotel sofa, wearing a light gray robe, with no deliberately adjusted camera angle.

The slight upward angle, often deemed unflattering by most, still captured him looking so handsome, like a slightly lazy and relaxed king of beasts. His gaze wasn’t as intense as usual, with a hint of a smile in his eyes, embodying a blend of grace and a touch of mischief.

Upon seeing him turn on his camera, Audrey Sutton also turned on hers, feeling a bit embarrassed. As she looked at herself in the camera, she awkwardly adjusted her bangs and explained, "... I haven’t showered yet, my bangs are a bit greasy."

He chuckled, "What haven’t I seen of you? It’s not like you were only ugly for a day or two."

"Can’t you go a day without making fun of me?"

"Say what you just said again," he suddenly switched topics.

Audrey Sutton was puzzled, "What?"

He replied, "Say you miss me."

Audrey Sutton wasn’t sure if he was teasing her, but as soon as she saw him through the camera, the longing in her heart surged uncontrollably, so she boldly and straightforwardly told him, "I miss you."

Under his gaze filled with smiles, Audrey Sutton was silent for two seconds before asking, "Do you miss me then?"

Shane Warner smiled and countered, "Do you think I miss you?"

Audrey Sutton pouted, feeling he always evaded her questions. Intentionally, she said, "How could you miss me? Probably glad not to see me and maybe trying some fresh new ’Wilder greens’ outside without me around."

"Your IQ hasn’t improved, but your imagination is getting richer."

Saying that, he switched the camera to rear-facing, stood up, and scanned the entire suite with the camera, even opening the closet for her to see, checking all the places a person could hide, then said, "It’s just me. If you’re not convinced, you can buy a ticket and fly over here; there are flights 24 hours."

Audrey Sutton rolled her eyes, "I really couldn’t care less about you. I’m going to shower, you go to bed early."

"You go shower, but don’t turn off the video."

"You... dirty old rogue!" Audrey Sutton originally intended to call him an "old rogue", but knowing he was sensitive about the word "old", she quickly corrected herself.

Shane’s brows furrowed as he repeated her words, "Dirty old rogue?"

"I’m not arguing with you. I still have to draw after my shower."

He then got serious, nodding gently, "Alright, go ahead. Remember to have the driver pick you up and drop you off wherever you go, don’t cause any trouble and make a mess for me."

"I know, you get some rest."

"Mhm."

The conversation seemed to have ended, but neither hung up the phone.

Audrey Sutton looked at him on the screen and hastily said, "Good night," before quickly pressing the red hang-up button.

In the hotel, Shane watched as the call was ended, recalling her "Good night," and his lips curled into a smile.

He had only left that morning, and they hadn’t been apart for even a day, but he really did miss her—being without her felt unusual, like something was missing.

By noon the next day, after class, Audrey Sutton came out of the lecture hall and headed straight to the restaurant based on the address Nolan Hawke had sent.

Because it was the busiest time at school, with people coming and going on the streets, Audrey Sutton didn’t realize that the moment she walked out of the lecture hall, someone was following her from a distance.

Following the address to the restaurant, Audrey Sutton mentioned Nolan Hawke’s name to the staff on the first floor, who then led her upstairs.

As Audrey Sutton went upstairs, a man in a gray and white striped suit entered the restaurant and asked the staff, "I’m a friend of the young lady who just arrived. Could you tell me which room she is in?"

"Are you the boss with the last name Huo?"

The man hesitated for a moment before nodding, "Yes, that’s him."

"Come on, I’ll take you up."

...

Led by a staff member, Audrey Sutton entered the room, which had a small square table with Nolan Hawke and a bearded man, who must be his friend.

Seeing Audrey Sutton arrive, both men simultaneously stood up to greet her, with the bearded man first saying, "Miss Sutton, right? You’re even prettier in person than in the photos."

Audrey Sutton smiled bashfully and apologized, "I’m sorry to keep you both waiting."

In a gentlemanly manner, Nolan Hawke pulled out a chair for Audrey Sutton, saying, "We only just arrived, and since school just let out, we didn’t expect you to come so soon."

Audrey Sutton chuckled awkwardly, not knowing what to say.

Nolan Hawke handed Audrey Sutton the menu, "See what you’d like to eat, we can chat after you order."

Audrey Sutton reached for the menu, and just as she opened the cover, she heard a noise coming from the door.

Thinking someone else was coming, Audrey Sutton immediately turned to look at the door.

Upon seeing who it was, she froze, and Nolan Hawke, along with the bearded man, were also taken aback.

Smiling sweetly, Faye Xavier thanked the service staff beside her. The server, a young girl likely charmed by Faye Xavier’s looks, lingered a moment longer, saying, "If you need anything later, just let us know."

When she’s not being cheeky, Faye Xavier can still look quite sensible. She smiled politely, "Alright, thanks a lot."

The staff turned to leave, and Faye Xavier walked straight into the room...
