Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 261: Plenty of Tricks Up Your Sleeve
Shane Warner reached for a towel on the nearby rack and gently wiped her hair, saying, "If I say I’m not angry, then I’m not angry."
Audrey Sutton turned her head to ask him, "Then why have you been acting so strange?"
Shane Warner remained silent, as he couldn’t bring himself to say it was because he felt she had been neglecting him lately.
There was a hint of worry in Audrey Sutton’s eyes as she asked, "Are you tired of me?"
"Huh?" Shane Warner was slightly taken aback, not expecting her to have such thoughts.
"Is it that being with me isn’t exciting anymore? That you’re torn about whether to stay with me, and that’s why you’re feeling inexplicably irritable?"
Shane Warner chuckled softly, "I think you’ve got plenty of tricks up your sleeve, how could it not be exciting?"
Audrey Sutton glared at him in embarrassment and annoyance and then asked, "Why did you go out drinking today? Didn’t you always take me along when you went out before? Did you go to see some girl?"
Shane Warner was somewhat amused and annoyed, "Even just going for drinks with a few friends can turn into so many stories with you?"
"What if I went out late at night without telling you, and when you called, I barely responded, and then came back with a weird attitude when talking to you? What would you think?"
Shane Warner: "I would think you’re asking for a beating."
Audrey Sutton grunted in dissatisfaction, murmuring, "You’re the only one allowed to treat me this way."
Shane Warner: "You want to stand on equal footing with your master?"
Audrey Sutton: "Are you done yet? There’d better not be a next time, I’m telling you, if you act like this again, I won’t care about you anymore!"
Even though Audrey Sutton said these bold words, if there really was a next time, she might still be the first to back down.
After all, she was the one who liked him first. The proactive person always seems to be at a disadvantage.
That night, Audrey Sutton stayed in his room.
After being teased by him, she fell asleep rather quickly.
Her phone was in her own room next door, so when the alarm went off, she didn’t hear it at all.
It was luckily a Sunday, so Shane Warner didn’t wake her up.
After he finished at the gym, so as not to disturb her, he showered in her room before heading downstairs to prepare breakfast.
Curling up in the big bed, Audrey Sutton slowly opened her eyes. The curtains were tightly drawn, making the room quite dim, and she couldn’t tell what time it was.
Catching a whiff of his cologne at the tip of her nose, Audrey Sutton slowly recalled that she had spent the night in Shane Warner’s room.
She immediately turned her head to look behind her. The pillow beside her was empty, and when she reached back to touch the spot, the cool feel indicated he had been up for a while.
She instinctively glanced toward the bathroom door—there were no lights on or sounds coming from inside, indicating that he wasn’t there.
After gathering her wits on the bed for a bit, she heard footsteps outside the room. Audrey Sutton then collected her thoughts, her previously dazed gaze focusing on the door as it was pushed open from outside.
The movement was quite gentle, showing that he deliberately slowed down his pace, as if afraid of waking her.
Audrey Sutton blinked, watching him without moving.
Seeing that she was awake, Shane Warner said in a cool tone, "Awake but still not getting up?"
Audrey Sutton lazily sat up, wearing his bathrobe, which was a bit too big. It slipped off her shoulder, and she reached up to pull the collar back up, asking him, "What time is it?"
"It’s still early. Get up and come down for breakfast," Shane Warner said before turning and leaving the room.
Audrey Sutton got up and returned to her own room, checking the time on her phone.
It was indeed still early, not yet nine o’clock.
After washing up and going downstairs, he was sitting at the dining table, reading a newspaper while waiting for her.
Seeing that he seemed back to normal, Audrey Sutton finally let out a sigh of relief.
Then she wondered to herself if his inexplicable anger was just a stunt.
Maybe he was just in the mood for that thing and deliberately used this tactic, waiting for her to come to him, then acted like he was accepting her apology, and took everything she offered as his rightful due.
Damn man.
Shane Warner picked up on her resentful gaze, slightly furrowing his brow as he asked, "What? Out for blood?"
Audrey Sutton mimicked his tone from yesterday, saying, "Nothing at all."
She sat down opposite him, noticing that today’s breakfast was quite to her liking, which put her in a better mood.
"Are you going out today?"
Audrey Sutton took a sip of the milk in her cup and said, "Not going out."
"I have a meeting at Starfield this morning, which should end around eleven. I’m free in the afternoon. If you want to go somewhere, I can go with you."
Audrey Sutton originally had no plans to go out, but hearing him say this, she started considering her options.
After all, his free time is rare, and going out together could count as a date.
"Let me think, and I’ll tell you when you get back."
After last night’s events, Shane Warner was in an excellent mood.
After breakfast, he headed to the office, and everyone in the meeting room could sense their boss’s good spirits that day.
Faye Xavier and Morgan Quinn sat together, whispering quietly, "Our sister-in-law must have had it rough last night. Master Shane looked so sour while drinking with us yesterday. I was worried about the meetings these next few days, but it seems sister-in-law’s brave sacrifice saved us all."
Morgan Quinn: "Tsk, Master Shane’s insufferable nature, it’s amazing how sister-in-law puts up with it."
Faye Xavier: "What else can she do, leave him?"
Shane Warner glanced in their direction, and the two instantly clammed up, as if caught slacking off by a teacher, their gazes fixed on the projection screen.
In fact, it wasn’t just Faye Xavier and Morgan Quinn who were slacking off; Shane Warner himself was too.
Midway through the meeting, Audrey Sutton sent him a message on WhatsApp.
The message contained a promotional offer for a nearby amusement park and her message: "This discount is pretty big, and today is the last day of the promotion. The weather is nice too, shall we go to the amusement park this afternoon?"
Shane Warner: "Up to you."
Audrey Sutton felt that he was quite easygoing when in a good mood.
He probably checked the ticket prices too; the most expensive package was just over five hundred, yet he transferred two thousand to her.
Though he was wealthy, Shane Warner typically only gave Audrey Sutton exactly what she needed, never showering her with money.
Firstly, he thought of her as being young, treating her like a child; secondly, he was wary of giving her too much money, fearing she’d use it to cuckold him. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
There were two types of packages over five hundred: one for a single-person two-day trip and the other for a double-person one-day trip. Audrey Sutton chose the latter.
However, the entry time was in the afternoon, whereas going in the morning would have allowed for a full day of fun.
Even though it seemed a bit of a waste, a rare idle afternoon with Shane Warner was worth it, even if just for an afternoon.
