Chapter 238: Chapter 238: Starting to Like Her a Little

Shane smiled at Ivan Yardley with great composure, his face unruffled, maintaining his usual calm and indifference.

Audrey Sutton hooked her arm around Shane’s, deliberately stepping half a step closer to him, watching Lan Irving, who stood beside Ivan Yardley.

Lan Irving’s expression wasn’t particularly good, with not a trace of a smile, and she dared not look Shane in the eye.

Audrey didn’t know why Lan left Starfield to choose Celestine, and now seeing her cozy demeanor with Ivan, it seemed less like she chose Celestine, and more like she chose Ivan.

Could it be the same tactic Clarissa Morgan played? Finding a strong backing to achieve some of her unspeakable secrets?

But in any case, in Audrey’s eyes, Lan leaving Starfield was good news for her.

Saving her the worry of Lan pulling any underhand tricks at the company.

Whether she tried to seduce Shane was one thing, but if she stayed at Starfield as a spy, that would be the most terrifying thing.

Now that Lan stood by Ivan’s side, it was clear she intended to oppose Starfield, but it’s always better to confront an enemy out in the open than hidden in the shadows.

"It’s been a while since I’ve seen the Third Young Master, and it looks like he’s been in good spirits lately."

Shane slightly tugged at the corners of his mouth, smiling faintly, "No worries, naturally I’m in a good mood."

Ivan looked down at the Lan he embraced, then looked up at Shane with a smile, "I really must apologize, I took Lan away after you’ve nurtured her for so many years, without finding a chance to properly thank you."

The taunting hidden in the smile, even Audrey felt her heart a bit displeased, thinking Ivan was asking for a punch.

But Shane merely responded without anger, "Starfield has plenty of talents. If Mr. Yardley has a need, I can also send a group of elites to Celestine to guide your personnel. After all, Celestine is not just an old brand; its production technology seems rather outdated, and our relationship isn’t solely competitors, but also industry peers. Exchanges among peers can be vital for company growth, so if Mr. Yardley has further talent needs, Warner is willing to share experiences."

After finishing, Shane hugged Audrey with a smile, "I still need to accompany my wife to pick out earrings, so I’ll be taking my leave for now."

After saying that, Shane turned and walked away with Audrey.

Ivan and Lan stood in place, watching the two’s departing figures, each lost in their own thoughts.

Ivan withdrew his gaze first, glancing down at Lan; her direct gaze at Shane made it clear her heart was still moved by his presence.

He knew well, even though Lan had left Starfield and didn’t have much connection with Shane anymore, her heart still harbored affection for him, which was evident.

Without revealing anything, Ivan chuckled softly and said to her, "Let’s go, and take a look over there."

After hearing Shane’s words to Ivan, Audrey admired Shane even more deeply in her heart.

Calmly dismantling the enemy with such ease.

If it were her being provoked like that, she’d likely have been furious and cursing.

But the most crucial thing wasn’t Shane’s attitude towards Ivan; it was his indifference to Lan’s departure.

This realization made Audrey feel very happy inside, and also taught her a truth, that Shane would never tolerate any betrayal. No matter how deep the relationship, he wouldn’t recognize them again.

Such decisive love and hate, Audrey quite liked.

When she heard about Lan’s resignation, she had initially worried that Shane might be indecisive about the matter, but now it seemed her worries were unnecessary.

When Audrey felt hungry, Shane found a nearby restaurant.

Coincidentally, they ran into Stella Charlie at the restaurant. She must have already finished her translation work, dining with a young foreigner in a suit by the window, laughing and chatting, looking like they had a good relationship; unclear if they were a couple.

Since Shane had reminded Audrey to keep minimal contact with Stella, and they chose a spot quite distant from her, Audrey didn’t go over to greet her.

She just observed Stella from a distance, now merely out of gossip interest.

She was quite curious about the story between Stella and Vincent Warner, and also Chloe Swift...

From Chloe’s perspective, Audrey felt that if she were in the same situation, she wouldn’t know what to do.

Already married to the man she loved, but his heart belonged to another woman.

Want to divorce, but feeling reluctant and unwilling, and yet not divorcing means enduring unknown suffering...

Looking at Shane, who was sitting across from her, focusing on ordering, Audrey still felt her situation with him was happy.

She couldn’t understand the menu, and Shane didn’t consult her while ordering, to which Audrey didn’t object.

Having realized that he had already gotten a good sense of her taste, she trusted he’d order something she liked, so she wasn’t bothered about ordering and simply waited for the food to arrive.

He remembered her preferences so clearly, Audrey didn’t know whether it was his innate attentiveness and good memory or if she held a tiny spot in his heart, at least enough for him to care about her affairs.

After finishing the order with the waiter, Shane returned the menu, and lifting his eyes towards Audrey, he found her resting her chin in her hand, watching him with a smile.

"What’s up?" he asked.

Audrey didn’t shy away when he caught her watching, but continued to gaze at him, laughing as she asked, "Why did you suddenly come to my room last night?"

Shane paused, surprised by her question, took a sip of red wine from the glass before replying, "Room inspection."

Audrey pursed her lips, clearly disbelieving his excuse, "Couldn’t sleep last night, were you thinking about that incident, feeling particularly guilty for losing your temper with me, so you sneaked into my room to check on me?"

To this, Shane responded decisively, "No."

"Yes, you were!" Audrey laughed, leaning forward on the table, inching closer to him, saying, "Last night, you didn’t say that when you were comforting me."

"You cried like a puppy last night, if I didn’t console you, what was I supposed to do, scold you?"

Audrey ceased her smile, frowning and glaring at him, annoyed.

She felt that he liked her a bit; he was so patient in comforting her, yet he stubbornly refused to acknowledge it!

Shane spoke earnestly, "Actually, I went looking for you last night because I felt unsettled and couldn’t sleep, wanting to vent a bit, not expecting you’d be more aggrieved than I was."
