Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 231: Everyone Loves to Use Money to Get Rid of People
Although Chloe Swift didn’t like the presence of this woman, she still managed a polite smile at this moment, stepped forward, and gently asked the woman, "You’re Stella Charlie, right?"
The woman slightly frowned, looking somewhat puzzled, "You are?"
As Chloe Swift extended her hand, she introduced herself, "I am Vincent Warner’s wife."
Upon hearing the name "Vincent Warner," Stella Charlie’s smile noticeably froze for a moment, hesitantly extending her hand to shake Chloe Swift’s.
Uncertain about her intentions.
"Is it convenient for us to go inside and sit for a while? It’s quite cold outside." Chloe Swift said with a smile, showing no signs of provocation or intent to argue, her tone soft yet polite.
Stella Charlie wasn’t a pushover either, but seeing Chloe Swift’s attitude was fairly amicable, not like she was looking for trouble, Stella Charlie graciously opened the door to invite her inside.
Chloe Swift followed Stella Charlie into the house, standing by the door, observing her surroundings.
The fireplace emitted warmth inside, with a fat tabby cat quietly sleeping on the rug beside it. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
"Feel free to sit down, would you like something to drink?" Stella Charlie still displayed the demeanor of a host to entertain her guest, although she was still uncertain if Chloe Swift was an unexpected visitor.
She thought she would never hear anyone mention that man’s name in front of her again in her later years.
"No need to trouble yourself, actually I just have something I want to discuss with you."
Stella Charlie poured two cups of brewed black tea, sat across from Chloe Swift, and directly asked her, "About your husband?"
Chloe Swift withdrew her gaze from observing the house, unable to find any signs of a man’s presence, no traces of Vincent Warner at all.
She didn’t know if her guess was wrong, or if the two of them were just being very cautious.
Chloe Swift reached out to accept the cup Stella Charlie handed over, first thanked her, and then said, "I know before I married him, you had a very close relationship with him."
Stella Charlie looked down and took a sip of her tea, quietly awaiting what Chloe Swift had to say next.
Chloe Swift glanced at Stella Charlie a couple of times, speaking in a low, and gentle tone, "When we first got married, we had a pretty good relationship, he particularly took care of me. I once believed that my marriage with him was happy, I felt I really loved him, and he loved me too."
Upon hearing this, Stella Charlie lowered her eyes, as if recalling some memories of Vincent Warner. He indeed possessed such a charming ability, because initially, she also once believed Vincent Warner loved her...
Chloe Swift held the teacup in her hands, took a deep breath, and said, "But as time went on, I slowly discovered everything didn’t seem as I thought. He started keeping things from me, sometimes didn’t come home, and his attitude toward me began to become perfunctory. Initially, I couldn’t find a reason, thinking it was a problem between him and me, but later... I discovered your existence."
Stella Charlie looked up, somewhat confused, "Me?"
"You’ve been in contact with him all along, right? Has he come to find you recently?" Chloe Swift asked.
Now Stella Charlie understood Chloe Swift’s true purpose of coming, there was a hint of ridicule in her smile, not sure if she was mocking herself, Vincent Warner, or Chloe Swift. She slightly shook her head and said, "After he told me he was going to get married, we haven’t had any contact, it’s been a long time since we’ve met."
She didn’t know why she had inexplicably turned into his mistress, still so "lucky" as to have his wife come knocking at her door.
Chloe Swift stared at Stella Charlie’s face, as if trying to find traces of lying.
Because she couldn’t believe Vincent Warner liked Stella Charlie so much, yet Stella Charlie said they haven’t seen each other since he got married.
And judging by Stella Charlie’s appearance, it seemed like she didn’t know how much Vincent Warner liked her at all.
Chloe Swift wondered if Stella Charlie was deliberately putting on an act for her.
She paused and then said, "I don’t care whether you two have any contact prior, but I implore you, from today onwards, not to contact him again."
"Mrs. Warner, please rest assured, there’s no need for you to personally come for this matter, he and I have long ended."
Chloe Swift nodded, lowered her head, and while taking a thick envelope out of her bag, she softly said, "I’m pregnant, and I want to give the child a complete family, so please consider it a request from me. Even if he comes looking for you, please be ruthless and refuse him. I want him to focus all his attention on me and the child. That’s why I dared to come here and disturb you this time, and I hope you can understand my feelings as a mother."
Stella Charlie looked down at the envelope Chloe Swift handed to her; it was quite thick, and she probably knew it was filled with money.
"Please consider this money as an apology for my abrupt interruption. I would like to say that if Miss Charlie encounters any financial problems in the future, she can directly find me without contacting my husband; I will do my best to help you. Here’s my business card with my contact details."
Stella Charlie merely smiled, looking down at the envelope in Chloe Swift’s hand without reaching out to take it, secretly ridiculing, truly, birds of a feather flock together, they all love to use money to dismiss people.
Chloe Swift’s hand hovered in the air for a few seconds before placing the envelope on the coffee table, just as she was preparing to stand up, Stella Charlie reached out and picked up the envelope, weighed it in her hand, and said to Chloe Swift, "Mrs. Warner, you’d better keep this money for yourself. Mr. Warner really has never come looking for me, so according to what you said earlier, even if he has a woman outside, that woman is not me, so you should keep this money to persuade other women."
Stella Charlie stuffed the envelope back into Chloe Swift’s bag, and Chloe Swift thoughtfully looked at Stella Charlie, feeling that Stella Charlie didn’t seem to be lying; Vincent Warner probably truly hadn’t come to find her.
But Chloe Swift was also very clear that there shouldn’t be any other woman outside of Stella Charlie because she knew very well that every time he got drunk, the name he shouted was Stella Charlie’s.
That’s why she thought Vincent Warner had always been in contact with Stella Charlie.
However, looking at the current situation, she indeed seemed to have found the wrong person.
It seems that Stella Charlie’s existence or nonexistence cannot become a turning point in her marriage with Vincent Warner.
What she should do is not to make Stella Charlie let go, but to make Vincent Warner let go of Stella Charlie.
After learning about Stella Charlie’s existence, she inquired about past matters between Vincent Warner and Stella Charlie. Stella Charlie appeared as the only woman around Vincent Warner, although the two never publicly acknowledged their relationship, everyone in the company believed they were dating.
The reason Vincent Warner didn’t marry Stella Charlie was because his family didn’t allow it.
Because Stella Charlie’s family background was poor, and her reputation outside was also bad. People who knew her spoke of her with disdain, said she was shameless, kept as a mistress by wealthy people, vain, dirty...
