Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 191: She’s My Wife
Audrey Sutton looked around, seeming to hesitate about something, and after a few seconds, she asked Shane, "Are you thirsty?"
Following her gaze, Shane saw a milk tea shop across the street, the chain she particularly liked.
He glanced at her without saying anything and wrapped his arm around her, heading in that direction.
The shop was quite crowded, but she quickly slipped inside and placed an order with the clerk.
Shane stood outside the shop, waiting for her. He never thought he would one day accompany a girl to a milk tea shop like this.
Since being with her, he had done many things he had never imagined doing before.
"Hey, handsome."
Someone tapped him on the shoulder, and Shane turned around with a cold look. It was a stranger.
Before he could speak, the woman held out her phone, showing her own WhatsApp QR code, and said to him, "Care to add me on WhatsApp?"
Shane might not be familiar with these flashy pick-up methods, but he could see that the girl wanted to flirt with him.
His hands remained in his pockets; he didn’t reach for his phone to scan the QR code but instead nodded towards Audrey, who was waiting for her milk tea inside the shop, and said, "Why don’t you ask my wife if she’d agree?"
Upon hearing that he wasn’t single, the girl looked visibly disappointed. She glanced towards the shop, curious about who was lucky enough to catch such a handsome guy.
At that moment, Audrey emerged from the shop with two cups of milk tea, looking happy. She glanced at the woman standing not far from Shane, thinking she was also waiting for someone and didn’t give it much thought. She went directly to Shane and handed him a cup of milk tea, "Here you go."
Before Shane could say anything, the woman who had asked for his WhatsApp said to Audrey, "Miss, your husband is really handsome."
Audrey was momentarily stunned. Seeing the woman smile at her before leaving, she was a bit surprised.
Before Audrey could react, Shane’s voice came through the earphones: "Your husband is really handsome."
Audrey turned her head, realizing how close his face was to hers—just a fraction of a centimeter and their faces would touch.
Although she knew it was true, considering how Shane often teased her, she blurted out two words: "She’s blind."
Shane didn’t argue with her, as everyone knew the fact of the matter.
Audrey, sipping her milk tea, walked towards the mall.
On the escalator, they stood side by side, and Audrey turned to ask him, "What do you think I should buy?"
Shane asked, "For your fifth brother?"
Audrey nodded, "Yeah."
"That depends on what he usually likes." If it were for her third brother, he might have some suggestions, but for her fifth brother, he had no clue.
Audrey asked, "What do you guys generally like as gifts?"
"Depends on who it’s from."
Audrey glanced at him, understanding the logic but worried she might not be the person he considered special.
Shane asked, "Does he have any hobbies?"
Audrey thought for a moment and said, "Not any particular hobbies."
Shane thought for a bit and asked, "Does he smoke?"
Audrey shook her head, "No."
"Does he use cologne?"
Audrey shook her head again, "He’s a doctor, so he’s not allowed to wear it."
However, she had mentally taken note that cologne could be an option.
"Then give him something practical. The shaver I use is pretty good, what do you think?"
Audrey nodded, "Is there one here?"
"There’s a store nearby, let’s see."
Audrey sipped her milk tea and spotted a women’s clothing store nearby that had started selling spring wear. She liked the little dress the mannequin was wearing, and immediately pulled Shane towards it, "I want to look at the clothes."
Shane was mentally prepared. Accompanying a girl while shopping means you’ll look at whatever catches her eye, not just what’s on the list.
He had learned this from the last time he went shopping with Phoebe.
Shane followed her into the store. She checked out the dress on the mannequin and then turned to him, "What do you think?"
Without thinking, Shane said, "Too short."
"This is short? It nearly reaches the knees." Saying this, Audrey handed him her milk tea to hold and then told the store clerk, "Could I try this one on? An S would probably fit."
"Sure, hold on a moment."
Shane’s expression cooled; it seemed her inquiry earlier was just for show, and she never intended to take his opinion seriously.
He watched as the store clerk took an S size off a nearby rack, and Audrey headed to the changing room.
Shane saw the sofa outside the changing room and went to sit down.
A few minutes later, the changing room door opened, and Audrey emerged in the dress. She looked in the mirror on the door and smiled, asking Shane, "How does it look?"
The dress was a black, square-neck, slightly loose strap design. The thin straps on her shoulders tied into bows, enhancing her waistline. The hem wasn’t long, revealing her long legs.
Her fair skin looked good in any color.
It did look good, but Shane thought it revealed too much, so he said, "Fine, if you only wear it at home."
"Why? I think it looks great." Audrey pointed to the straps on her shoulders, "I like the design here."
It felt sexy with a touch of cuteness.
"If you insist on buying it, pair it with pants underneath."
Audrey furrowed her brows, imagining what a confusing combination that would be.
The store clerk, understanding Shane’s concern, smiled and said, "The dress has built-in safety shorts, so you don’t have to worry about exposure. It looks great on your girlfriend, and..."
Before the clerk could finish, Shane corrected her, "She’s my wife."
The clerk smiled knowingly and continued, "This dress really suits your wife. Look at how beautiful it is."
"Do you have a longer version?" Shane was concerned about the dress length.
The clerk awkwardly smiled and pointed to another rack, "This one doesn’t come in a longer version, but we have a lot of long dresses over there. Sir, you can take a look."
Before Shane could get up, Audrey said, "I want this one."
Girls always have an obsession with things they fall in love with at first sight, and she didn’t trust Shane’s taste.
She felt his selections for her were child-like and a bit childish.
She’s going for the dark chic look now; she wants to be a queen, not a little princess.
She doesn’t want to face Clarissa Morgan next time and let her critique her outfit choices again.
