Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 192: The Red Apricot Wants to Cross the Wall
Ignoring Shane’s objections, Audrey went to the cashier to pay.
After leaving the store, Shane’s expression wasn’t as good as before.
"Do you want to buy an outfit? There’s menswear upstairs, let’s go have a look?" Audrey tried to placate him.
He replied coldly, "No."
Audrey directly held his wrist and walked towards the escalator upstairs, her tone slightly spoiled, "Let’s go have a look."
She had already grabbed his hand, so he had no reason not to go.
When they reached a menswear store on the third floor, it wasn’t the suits Shane usually wore, it was all trendy men’s casual wear.
"Do you want to try a different style? Want to give it a go..."
"I don’t want to."
Audrey pouted and glanced at him, then picked up a casual shirt and jeans outfit from the store, showing it to Shane and asked, "How about this set? Nowadays, young guys like to dress like this."
Shane snorted, "Why would I want to dress like a dog?"
"It’s just a metaphor, meaning clingy and cute young guys."
"Do you like these dogs?"
Audrey rolled her eyes at him and straightforwardly said, "This outfit would make you look younger."
Unexpectedly, she stepped on Shane’s sore spot: "Do I need to look younger?"
"Don’t you?" Audrey still analyzed, "With your current attire, if you said you were thirty-five or thirty-six, no one would doubt it, but if you wear this, people would think you’re at most twenty-one or twenty-two."
Shane turned around with a stern face and left the store, Audrey stood there holding the clothes, stunned, awkwardly and apologetically smiled at the store clerk, put the clothes back on the rack, and quickly chased after him.
"What’s wrong with you? How can a grown man be so petty?"
Shane just walked ahead, ignoring her, but noticeably slowed down his pace, afraid she might get lost.
"I wasn’t saying you’re old, I was just giving a comparison, that style indeed makes you look younger, I only wanted you to try a different style, so that when you go shopping with me next time, you don’t have to dress so formally. People might think I’m your secretary accompanying you to inspect work!"
Shane still kept silent, and Audrey pouted and decided to end the topic.
She didn’t really think he was old, just felt he could look very handsome in that style, but he seemed reluctant to try it.
"Where are you going? Could you slow down?" Audrey jogged after him, and he suddenly stopped, making Audrey brake in time to avoid bumping into him.
He looked at her for two seconds and asked, "Do you like that kind of style?"
Audrey didn’t know what he wanted to hear, thought it over, and observed his expression, cautiously answered, "I think you have a good figure, anything looks good on you, so I just want you to try other styles."
She thought, flattering him couldn’t go wrong.
Sure enough, she saw his expression softened a lot, but before he could say anything, a guy walked over from behind him.
Watching a hundred-yuan bill being tossed at Shane’s feet, the guy patted Shane’s shoulder and said, "Hey handsome, you dropped your money."
Shane just glanced coldly, didn’t bend down to pick it up, and then looked up to see the guy passing a note towards Audrey’s face.
Audrey was stunned; she had only seen this trick online and thought they were staged, never imagined to encounter it today.
Especially since Shane wasn’t fooled, the guy was embarrassed, under Shane’s piercing gaze, reluctantly withdrew the note, picked up the money, and quickly ran away.
Shane murmured, confused, "What’s this new scam?"
Audrey chuckled, "Haven’t you seen these videos online?"
Clearly, he didn’t have time for such things: "What?"
Audrey smiled and explained, "It’s just a ruse, he intentionally dropped money next to you, wanting to hand me a note while you bent to pick it up, and the note had his contact info. He messed up, hahaha."
The more Shane listened, the more puzzled he became: "Meaning... he wanted to hit on you?"
Audrey nodded.
Only then did Shane realize the guy was trying to poach her right under his nose.
He immediately looked in the direction the guy disappeared, looking as if he wanted to settle the score, but the guy was long gone.
Then Shane looked down at Audrey and said lightly, "He’s blind."
"You’re the one who’s blind! I’m naturally beautiful, lots of young guys would come to flirt if you weren’t by my side."
Shane: "Meaning I’m blocking your luck in romance?"
"You could say that."
Shane’s brows furrowed again; why did he feel his beloved was about to run off?
"Wow! This is so cute." Audrey was starry-eyed looking at a store full of plush toys, pulling Shane’s arm, she walked into the store.
She picked up a half-human-sized pink panther, showing an especially fond expression.
"Your bed’s already piled high with them, and you still want to buy more?"
"They don’t look the same, I’ve wanted this one for a long time." Audrey looked at the pink panther in her hand, then pointed to a larger one on the shelf, and asked him, "Do you think I should get this one or the bigger one?"
Shane picked up one nearby, maybe only twenty or thirty centimeters, and said, "This one is pretty good, small and doesn’t take space."
Audrey immediately disdained it, saying, "That one’s too small."
"So you like the bigger ones?"
Audrey felt he was trying to lead her astray again, glared at him, walked to the cashier, "I’ll go with this one."
Shane followed her, as she prepared to pay with her phone, he reached out to stop her, handed his phone to the cashier instead for scanning, and it showed the transaction was successful.
Audrey smiled at him, "Oh, you shouldn’t have! You spent again."
Shane snorted, "You seem quite comfortable with it." 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
"Hehe, I’ll treat you to dinner tonight then."
After visiting several more women’s clothing stores, they spotted the Starfield’s offline store.
Since it was rare to come here, Audrey naturally wanted to go in and wander around.
The store employees seemed to recognize their boss, but couldn’t believe it. Shane didn’t explain, and the staff treated them as ordinary customers with warm hospitality.
In the center of the display rack, at the most conspicuous position, was the "Moon Palace and Stars," which was Audrey’s own design, displayed as a treasure of the Starfield store, giving her a little pride.
