Chapter 189: Chapter 189: It’s Pretty Good to Give Him Spicy Strips

Shane picked up his phone, clicked open the link for a look, glanced at the price, and said, "Only a little over a thousand? And that’s all you get?"

Audrey Sutton leaned over, pointing to the details on the collectible’s page and said, "It’s not about the price, okay? This is a limited edition; snagging one is already a challenge."

Shane glanced at the collectible’s image on the page; he only recognized it as a male character. He wasn’t familiar with this circle and wondered who could be so famous to have such a limited release that people had to snatch it?

"If it were a girl character, I’d help you snag it, but a guy character? What’s the point?"

"You wouldn’t understand, just help me snag it, okay?"

"I’ll remember to say it again if I still recall by then."

"Just set an alarm now, I’ve already set mine."

Shane closed the phone page, tossed his phone on the side of the table, and then focused his gaze back on the computer.

It was clear he seemed uninterested in this stuff and didn’t want to help her snag it.

Audrey gave a light humph, didn’t bother to persuade him further, and picked up her drawing tablet to rush on her illustration draft.

Despite saying she didn’t want to buy him a New Year gift anymore, after going to bed, she still browsed the online store trying to pick a unique gift that he would like.

Her eyes got sore from browsing, yet she couldn’t find an appropriate gift.

Her main issue was that she didn’t even have a direction for selecting a gift, akin to searching for a needle in a haystack, having no clue what to buy for him.

Between her girlfriends, Audrey could immediately think of giving lipstick, perfume, and cosmetics, which never went wrong. Although these things lack creativity, girls can hardly resist their allure.

Besides, one can never have too many lipsticks; a girl would love to have one of every brand and color.

Audrey realized that she still didn’t know much about guys; men probably know better what men like.

After scanning through her list, her brothers didn’t seem like the type to be knowledgeable in this area.

Her eldest, second, and third brothers seem to have similar temperaments to Shane.

Her fourth brother has unique tastes, different from ordinary people; if asked what he would want, he’d probably say "wine," as two-thirds of the wine in the home cellar are his collection.

As for her fifth brother, it feels like no matter what you give him, he’d like it.

Regarding Six, just give him a hammer.

Apart from them, she didn’t have many male friends around.

Flipping through suddenly spotting Simon Sue’s name, Audrey’s eyes lit up, wondering how she could have forgotten him?

Audrey sent a message: Got a question for you.

After sending the message, Audrey realized it was nearly 1 AM, worrying whether she might disturb him or if Simon had already fallen asleep.

Unexpectedly, Simon replied almost immediately: Go ahead.

Seeing he was still awake, Audrey felt relieved and boldly sent the question: What gifts do you guys generally like to receive?

Su: A gift from a girl we like.

Audrey’s Visuals: No, I mean something practical.

Su: If you’re giving it to me, then this pair of shoes would do.

He promptly sent her a link to the shoes.

Audrey sent him an eye-roll emoji: I’ll send you a ball. Apart from shoes, anything else?

Because Shane isn’t interested in these things.

Su: You buying for your husband?

Audrey’s Visuals: Yep.

Su: Then I wouldn’t know, unless you buy me something too.

Audrey’s Visuals: How about some spicy snacks with $9.99 package and delivery included?

Su: Well then, you can give him some spicy snacks; a young master like him has probably never tried them.

Audrey’s Visuals: He’d kill me! Be serious.

Su: It’s so late. Aren’t you sleepy? Go to bed, I’ll help you check tomorrow when I have time, and send you a link then.

Before Audrey could reply, Simon sent another: "I have a schedule in the morning, goodnight."

Audrey’s Visuals: Alright then, don’t forget about it.

There was still a bit of time until the New Year, so she didn’t need to rush.

Audrey opened her comic page, intending to check out comments before sleeping.

Just then, she heard a noise by the door, like someone was opening it.

Audrey paused, her door was locked, and she suddenly felt a wave of panic.

Sitting up in bed, she craned her neck to look at the door. In the next moment, the door opened, and a silhouette appeared at the doorway.

Audrey quickly stretched her arm to flick the bedside light switch.

The room immediately lit up.

The sudden light made Shane, who was sneaking in, pause for a moment, looking at Audrey wrapped in a blanket and sitting on the bed, looking confused.

Meeting her gaze, Audrey felt relieved when she saw it was him, yet puzzled by why he was in her room: "What are you doing here?"

Shane hadn’t expected her to be awake at this hour. Although he had sneaked into her room many times at night, he didn’t expect to be caught this time. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢

However, guilt was never something to appear on Shane’s face. He only paused momentarily and then asked Audrey with a slightly unhappy tone: "Why aren’t you asleep yet?"

Audrey frowned and asked, "Why are you sneaking in with a key? What are you planning?"

Shane: "..."

For a moment, he hadn’t thought of a suitable excuse.

Audrey continued, "You’re not sneaking into my room in the middle of the night often, are you?"

Shane righteously said, "Just came to see why you weren’t asleep."

"How did you know I wasn’t asleep?"

"Just guessed." Shane retreated to the doorway and commanded her, "Stop playing with your phone and go to sleep."

Audrey felt confused. Seeing Shane was backing out, she got out of bed, walked to the door, and stopped him: "Give me the key."

"What key?" He pretended not to understand.

"The key to my room! Who knows why you’re sneaking in when I’m sleeping? Hand it over!"

"You can open the door from inside, why need a key? Go to sleep!"

Audrey was baffled by his logic, gripping his arm to prevent him from leaving: "This is my room, you can’t just come and go as you please with a key."

Shane stood at the door, examined her room briefly, then laughed and asked her, "Hiding something you don’t want seen?"

"This is my private space! Having you hold onto the key makes me uneasy! And... Who knows if you come in at night to take liberties with me? Hand it over!"

Watching her hand outstretched for the key, Shane chuckled, put his hand on hers instead, held her small hand, and with a hint of flirtation in his tone said, "If I wanted to take advantage of you, would I need to sneak around? And don’t forget, you’re just a small veggie, forget about tofu, not even tofu residue."
