Chapter 188: Chapter 188: Buy a Stainless Steel One

Audrey Sutton thought it looked pretty easy when Shane wrote, but once it landed in her hands, she started to falter. She barely managed to imitate one, completely losing that carefree and fluid feeling.

"Write it again so I can see," Audrey handed the pen to Shane.

Shane glanced at her and blandly uttered one word, "Clumsy."

Instead of reaching for the pen, he stood up and walked behind Audrey.

Before Audrey could react to what he was doing, her hand holding the pen was suddenly enveloped by his large hand.

He leaned over her, propping his left hand on the desk, and with his right hand, he grabbed her hand. As if he were her parent teaching her to write as a child, his pen met the paper, slowing down the writing process, guiding her through the strokes as he wrote.

"Did you remember it?"

Hearing his voice, Audrey snapped back to reality.

She had been so focused on the two hands joined together that she completely forgot he was teaching her how to practice her signature.

He was so close that if she moved her head slightly, she felt she would touch his body, subtly catching the scent of his usual cologne.

His hands were large, bony, and slender, wrapping around hers. She felt the warmth from his palms slowly spreading up her arm, causing the temperature on her face to rise, making her hidden ears burn.

And she didn’t notice that the man standing behind her was watching her shy expression, intentionally moving his head closer to her ear: "I’ll teach you two more times, focus."

Audrey hastily nodded and focused intently on watching the direction of his pen strokes.

After two more rounds, he released her hand, and Audrey immediately felt a coolness on the back of her hand, even though she secretly wished he would teach her two more times. She was just too embarrassed to ask.

"Practice a few more times, and you’ll get it."

"Oh." 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎

As if observing her for a moment, Shane stood behind her. Audrey didn’t dare to turn her head to look, just earnestly wrote on the paper twice, and only with her peripheral vision saw him return to his seat, continuing his work on the computer.

Audrey’s previously tense body finally relaxed a little. Looking at her hand holding the pen, she recalled the feeling of his hand covering hers, and her lips involuntarily turned up slightly, feeling a sense of delight.

After about ten minutes of writing, it barely looked decent, but compared to his, it always seemed to lack something.

However, it should be enough for the weekend’s signing event.

Chewing on the pen for a moment in thought, she glanced at him working seriously, not daring to disturb him.

"Ding-dong——" Her cellphone on the desk quietly buzzed.

Audrey quietly picked up her phone to peek. It was a message from Phoebe King: Audrey, is there anything your big brother likes? I want to prepare a New Year’s gift for him. I’ve been shopping all night and haven’t found anything suitable.

Audrey thought about it. It seemed like her brothers usually bought gifts for her, and she hadn’t really prepared gifts for them before.

Phoebe’s question left her momentarily without an answer.

After some thought, she replied: My big brother usually enjoys practicing calligraphy. You could get him something related to that; he’d probably appreciate it.

After replying, Audrey sneaked a glance at Shane, pondering what New Year’s gift she should get him?

Last time for his birthday, she had already racked her brain choosing a gift.

After half a year of interaction, it seemed she hadn’t discovered any particular interests he had, aside from working out.

Besides, even if he had hobbies, he would already have gotten himself everything he needed.

Thinking about this, Audrey simply called out to him: "Hey."

When Shane turned to look at her, Audrey asked, "New Year’s is coming, is there anything you want? I’d like to give it to you."

Upon hearing this, Shane lowered his head to look at the computer, one hand sliding the mouse as he said, "If you want to give me a gift, shouldn’t you figure that out yourself?"

"But I don’t know what you like, and it seems like you’re not lacking anything."

Shane chuckled, stopping what he was doing to turn and look at her, "Gifts don’t necessarily have to be material."

Audrey stared blankly at him, not understanding what he meant by this.

She heard him continue, "The point of giving gifts is to make the other person happy, so just think about what you can do to make me happy."

Hearing this, Audrey immediately rolled her eyes: "Who said I want to make you happy? It’s just a gesture so that when your female secretaries or old school friends give you gifts, I, as your wife, won’t end up empty-handed, losing face."

"You’ve thought it through quite thoroughly." There was a hint of mockery in his words.

Audrey pouted: "And since you’re so hard to please, how would I know what makes you happy?"

Shane suppressed the urge to scold her, his smile carrying a hint of mischief: "Happiness isn’t just psychological; it can also be... physiological, you get what I mean, right?"

Audrey was stunned; he showed no shame at all and continued, "Just like that night, even though your skills were clumsy, I was indeed quite happy."

Every time that night was brought up, Audrey felt embarrassed, but seeing Shane so shamelessly using it to tease her, Audrey retorted, "I think you lack nothing but a piece of mind!"

Shane chuckled silently, thinking to himself that she was truly clueless.

The watch she had given him, he was still wearing it up to now. Couldn’t she tell that as long as it was from her, he liked it?

"Won’t bother buying you anything, then I can save some money." She muttered under her breath.

Shane just smiled indulgently and asked her, "Then what kind of gift do you want?"

Without thinking, Audrey said, "Red packet."

"Is that all you aspire for?"

"Anyway, you wouldn’t be able to give me something satisfactory, might as well just give me a red packet."

"You were satisfied buying that nine-dollar scarf, so I guess choosing a gift for you wouldn’t be hard."

Audrey pouted: "As long as it looks good, who cares how much it costs."

As she spoke, Shane noticed her left wrist was bare, so he asked, "Where’s the bracelet?"

"That one’s too easy to break; I wouldn’t dare wear it every day. If it accidentally gets chipped, hundreds of thousands would be gone."

"Then I’ll get you a stainless steel one, those don’t break easily."

Audrey, seeing that he seemed genuinely interested in getting her a New Year’s gift, smiled and said, "If you really want to give me something... how about an action figure?"

Shane’s slightly furrowed brow showed a trace of confusion, "What action figure?"

Audrey immediately pulled out her phone, found the link on Taobao, and shared it with Shane on WhatsApp, telling him, "This one."
