Chapter 173: Chapter 173: Men’s Business

Audrey Sutton very carefully lifted her body slightly, unplugged the phone charging on bedside, and checked the time.

Five thirty-nine.

It was very early.

She gently placed the phone beside the pillow and slowly turned her body, knowing Shane Warner was a light sleeper, worried that any movement might wake him.

He was lying on his side, facing Audrey, perfectly catering to her desire for his charming appearance.

Even though she had just awakened, Audrey Sutton’s gaze was clear and focused, fixed on the man still dreaming.

Although she couldn’t see his expression now, Audrey felt his facial features seemed serious, even in his sleep, with his well-defined brows that conveyed his usual reserved demeanor.

Nonetheless, it didn’t affect the handsome look of his face, which was so captivating that she couldn’t take her eyes off him, finding him increasingly flawless.

In an unexplainable urge, Audrey Sutton slowly inched closer to him, more carefully than a thief.

Gently propping herself up, she used her hand to gather her loose hair into a bunch, then leaned her face towards him, halting at about five or six centimeters from his side profile.

A blush silently crept onto her face as she stared at Shane’s face for a few seconds, confirming he hadn’t awakened, then quickly stole a kiss on his cheek, barely touching before quickly pulling away.

However, she didn’t instantly increase the distance, keeping her gaze lowered on him, heartbeat accelerating, a satisfied smile visible despite her slightly parted lips.

"Ding dong—" the phone beside her pillow suddenly chimed, as if pulling Audrey out of her reverie.

Worried the sound might wake Shane, she hurriedly backed away, snuggling under her blanket pretending nothing had happened.

Behind her, the man who had kept his eyes tightly closed let a slight, unnoticed smile lift the corners of his mouth.

The message on the phone was from Simon Sue, initially asking Audrey if she could stop by his school to hand in some form, but upon learning Audrey wasn’t in town, he dropped the request.

After replying to Simon’s message, Audrey Sutton turned again to Shane only to find his deep, dark eyes unexpectedly fixed on her.

Startled with a sudden skip of the heart: "You... you’re awake?"

"Mm." He didn’t open his lips, speaking softly with a hint of tenderness.

Recalling her earlier stealthy act, Audrey suddenly felt a bit too shy to meet his gaze, "So... are you feeling better now?"

He nodded slightly without speaking, just staring at her motionlessly.

It was like the dazed and distracted feeling one might have upon waking, but his gaze made Audrey utterly uneasy.

Feeling quite guilty inside. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦

"Um... I have to head back today, I’ve packed some sweaters and scarves in your suitcase, remember to wear them warmly."

Shane Warner lowered his eyes before moving his gaze away from her, promptly sitting up in bed, flipping the blanket aside, and standing while saying: "Have dinner before you leave."

Audrey followed him to get out of bed and asked, "Do you have any plans?"

He walked towards the bathroom without turning back, saying: "I’ll have time in the evening to see you off."

Audrey watched the closed bathroom door and chuckled lightly, though she wasn’t that delicate, able to go to the airport alone to catch the flight, but having him to see her off was certainly preferable.

Sitting on the bed, she glanced at flight tickets for the evening; past midnight was the cheapest option, while flights around seven or eight o’clock neared two thousand. It depended on Shane’s schedule.

So, Audrey decided to wait and discuss with Shane when he came out; however, after nearly twenty minutes, he hadn’t emerged from the bathroom.

Recalling how he usually only needed a few minutes for a shower, it wouldn’t usually take long.

Besides, it had been quiet inside, worried he hadn’t fainted again?

With this possibility in mind, Audrey hastily knocked on the bathroom door: "Shane?"

"Mm?"

Hearing his response, Audrey breathed a sigh of relief but asked curiously: "What are you doing?"

No response came from inside, and after a few minutes passed, the sound of running water was heard, and soon he emerged from the bathroom.

Audrey, sitting at the bedside, scrutinized him. It had been about half an hour inside, yet he looked unchanged. Concerned, she asked: "Did you have an upset stomach? Why did it take so long?"

Shane Warner appeared refreshed, speaking while walking towards the wardrobe: "Looks like I need to give you a bit of tutoring."

Audrey looked at him, puzzled, not understanding why he suddenly brought up tutoring.

He fetched his clothes for the day from the wardrobe, approached the bedside and gazed at her, saying seriously: "Who told you going into the bathroom means having an upset stomach? Men have tasks in the morning."

He spoke rather delicately, but Audrey immediately understood what was going on. She had heard about the certain male response in the morning but hadn’t considered it earlier.

After hearing his explanation, her cheeks quietly reddened, realizing he had been doing something inside the bathroom, yet was now unabashedly "educating" her. Audrey admitted his face was indeed thick-skinned.

Not wanting to continue on this topic, Audrey pulled out her phone and asked him: "What time should I book the ticket for?"

Shane glanced at her phone screen and said: "Go with the one at Eight Ten, dinner won’t be rushed, and it won’t be too late arriving at Rivia."

"Eight Ten is so expensive, you don’t feel the pinch because it’s not your money, right?" Audrey scrolled down the page to the past midnight option, said: "I don’t know if you’re busy tonight. If you’re not busy, I’ll book this, anyway, I’m not in a hurry."

"No." He instantly rejected her suggestion, "You’ll arrive past Two or Three in the night. Are you planning to sleep during tomorrow’s exam?"

Audrey obediently purchased the Eight Ten flight.

Though she was somewhat a little rich lady now with manuscript fees, it seemed wasteful to spend nearly two thousand when the four hundred option would suffice.

"Ding dong—"

Having just completed the payment, WhatsApp rang twice, assuming it was a payment notification, she didn’t hurry to exit and check the messages.

She noticed from the corner of her eye Shane tossing his phone onto the bed, then began undressing his robe to change clothes.

He wasn’t at all shy despite Audrey sitting next to him, and Audrey pretended not to notice as she looked down at her phone.

Her face directed towards the phone screen, while her eyes secretly shifted towards Shane, admiring his well-built, firm body without any excess, a silent allure for Audrey.
