Chapter 162: Chapter 162: Are You Going to Be a Dad?

After the performance, Quentin invited Shane and Audrey Sutton to have dinner together, which was set at a five-star hotel behind the theater.

There were five tables in total, including the performers and some staff from Clarissa Morgan’s dance studio.

Audrey Sutton sat beside Shane, at the same table with Quentin, Clarissa Morgan, Simon Sue, their respective managers, and assistants.

"Shane, Audrey, try this, it’s a specialty here," Quentin warmly urged them.

Shane smiled and nodded, picked up a piece of meat from the plate with chopsticks, and placed it in Audrey Sutton’s bowl before getting his own piece.

Audrey Sutton didn’t know what kind of meat it was, she picked it up with chopsticks and looked at it before putting it in her mouth.

It was tender and fragrant, quite delicious. She picked up another piece with her chopsticks.

Clarissa Morgan said, "Audrey seems to have a good appetite, Shane, are you going to be a dad?"

Shane turned to glance at Audrey Sutton. Compared to some girls who deliberately ate small bites to seem ladylike and hide their appetite, he preferred Audrey Sutton’s straightforward eating style, "No, she’s still growing up, a good appetite is a good sign."

Talking about children, Quentin mentioned, "The other day, Clarissa was at home saying she wanted to see whose family would have kids first and even talked about arranging a marriage between them."

Shane looked indulgently at Audrey Sutton, with a smile on his lips said: "It’s still early, let’s talk about that when she grows up."

"But Shane, it’s about time for you to have kids," Clarissa Morgan said.

Shane was particularly sensitive about the topic of age lately. He didn’t bother to analyze whether Clarissa Morgan was simply chatting or not, he directly replied, "Miss Morgan should start considering children. After all, it’s women who bear children. A man being older isn’t a big deal, but older mothers face certain risks with childbirth."

Audrey Sutton held her teacup and managed not to laugh. Looks like Shane’s sharp tongue wasn’t targeted at her alone.

However, his tone seemed like genuine concern, which made Quentin show a slight hint of worry, he held Clarissa Morgan’s hand and said, "Last time we went for a check-up, the doctor said Clarissa’s body is quite frail. We’ve adjusted her diet well, but she’s lost weight because of the busy schedule for the performance. We won’t risk having children unless her health improves."

Audrey Sutton observed Clarissa Morgan’s pretentious smile and thought Clarissa likely had no intention of having children with Quentin.

Using Quentin’s financial support to advance her career, outwardly acting as Mrs. Sterling but secretly planning to change her surname to Warner.

Clarissa didn’t seem willing to continue on the topic and shifted the conversation to Simon Sue, who hadn’t joined much of the chatting: "Simon, now that we’re among friends, tell me honestly, do you have a girlfriend?"

Simon Sue picked up a napkin, wiped his mouth, and looked up with a smile: "Where would I get a girlfriend?" 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢

Clarissa Morgan: "On stage earlier, I thought you were about to announce your relationship."

Simon chuckled: "If I did that, I might lose my job."

"But listening to how you described it, I do know such a girl."

Simon hadn’t yet responded when Clarissa Morgan turned to Audrey Sutton and said, "Audrey resembles the kind of girl you described, but you’re too late, the role’s taken."

Both Shane and Audrey Sutton were taken aback, Simon looked at Audrey Sutton who sat opposite him, his mesmerizing gaze harbored a certain affection: "If I could meet someone like Mrs. Warner, I would have no regrets in this life."

Audrey Sutton was unsure if they were deliberately stirring things up, she simply leaned closer to Shane and said: "My husband feels the same way."

After speaking, Audrey Sutton turned to Shane and smiled sweetly, asking, "Is that right?"

"Just a little praise and your tail’s already up," Shane’s reply didn’t directly align with Audrey Sutton’s words, but his tone and affectionate gaze towards her reflected his love.

Audrey Sutton felt this was a good side of Shane, though he often teased her privately, he always saved face for her in public.

No matter how much Clarissa Morgan performed for him, it was just a one-man show.

Sometimes Audrey Sutton pitied Clarissa Morgan, knowing the man doesn’t like her, yet striving to win the love she believed in.

Audrey Sutton didn’t deny Clarissa Morgan’s love for Shane, but her persistence was uncalled for.

If it were her, after rejection, she might still try harder a few times.

However, if she knew he was married, no matter how much regret or dissatisfaction she had, she wouldn’t continue her pursuit.

If she continued and he cheated on her, Audrey Sutton would feel she didn’t get the Shane she loved anymore.

If he could cheat today, he might as well betray her tomorrow.

Therefore, she couldn’t understand Clarissa Morgan’s motives.

Audrey Sutton felt Clarissa was playing a big game; marrying Quentin was but a strong step towards her target.

Audrey Sutton’s priority wasn’t to figure out Clarissa’s intentions but to maintain her marriage with Shane. As long as she held Shane’s heart, Clarissa’s plans would be futile.

Ending the dinner was already ten at night.

Audrey Sutton, wearing high heels, held Shane’s arm and walked with Clarissa Morgan and Quentin towards the hotel entrance.

Trying to appear graceful, Audrey Sutton endured through the foot pain, hoping her steps wouldn’t seem unstable.

Others might not notice, but Shane did.

Reaching the hotel porch, he lowered his head and said to Audrey Sutton, "Wait here, I’ll bring the car over."

Audrey Sutton quickly nodded as walking was genuinely uncomfortable.

Clarissa Morgan glanced at Audrey Sutton, then told Quentin, "I’ll stay with Audrey here."

Quentin nodded, draping his coat over Clarissa Morgan’s shoulders: "I’ll go fetch the car with Shane."

Clarissa Morgan grasped the collar of the coat, smiling and nodding at Quentin.

Audrey Sutton tucked her hands in her coat pockets, looking at Clarissa Morgan’s man’s coat, then Quentin who was only in a thin suit, feeling a bit sorry for Quentin.

Being a girl herself, Audrey Sutton supported Quentin’s gentlemanly gesture, but knowing Clarissa was merely exploiting him made her feel it wasn’t worth it for Quentin.
