Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 155: A Momentary Novelty
Stephen Sutton didn’t speak directly to Phoebe King but asked Audrey Sutton instead, "You two know each other?"
Audrey Sutton nodded a few times, "She’s Shane’s distant cousin."
Stephen Sutton glanced at Phoebe King as if he were a teacher looking at a troublesome student who never learns, with an unmistakable disdain.
Only then did Phoebe King belatedly ask Audrey Sutton, "Is he your teacher?"
Audrey Sutton nodded, "He’s not just my teacher; he’s also my big brother."
Phoebe King was taken aback, then laughed, "Well, that’s good."
Stephen Sutton, who was usually gentle with others, didn’t relax his brow for a moment; clearly, he didn’t want much to do with Phoebe King. He turned away, holding Audrey Sutton’s hand, "Let’s go, class is about to start."
Phoebe King didn’t insist on following, just watched Stephen Sutton’s back with a silly smile, thinking that since he’s Audrey Sutton’s older brother, she wouldn’t have trouble finding him again.
After walking some distance, Stephen Sutton said to Audrey Sutton, "Keep your interactions with people like that to a minimum."
Hearing this, Audrey Sutton could tell how poor Phoebe King’s impression was on Stephen Sutton. But she thought Phoebe King was quite a straightforward and generous girl.
"Why are you so biased against her, big brother? What did she do to you?"
"Just keep your distance! Don’t learn from her bad behavior!"
Seeing Stephen Sutton’s hesitation, Audrey Sutton just nodded obediently and didn’t press further.
In her heart, she still felt there was some misunderstanding between the two of them. Although she hadn’t interacted much with Phoebe King, she felt that Phoebe King wasn’t bad enough to be annoying.
Following Stephen Sutton to the office to get strawberries, he didn’t feel at ease letting Audrey Sutton, with her injured foot, return to the teaching building alone. Not bothered by the trouble, he escorted her back to the classroom door, coincidentally meeting Flora. Seeing Audrey Sutton had a friend to accompany her, he finally left to handle his own business.
In class, Audrey Sutton received a bombardment of messages from Phoebe King.
What’s your brother’s name?
How old is he?
He doesn’t have a girlfriend, right?
Could you give me his phone number?
Audrey Sutton couldn’t help but chuckle. She kind of understood Phoebe King’s feelings, similar to how she felt the first time she met Shane Warner, eager to know a lot about him.
Only Phoebe King was clearly more direct and bold, not hiding her affection at all.
On one hand, there was her brother’s advice, and on the other was Phoebe King’s friendship, leaving Audrey Sutton hesitant about whether to betray her brother.
Thinking that he’s now the main target of their mother’s matchmaking but is still single, and he hasn’t shown interest in any female teachers at the school.
Maybe letting Phoebe King pursue him wouldn’t be a bad thing. Whether she becomes her sister-in-law or not doesn’t matter; even if they aren’t meant to be, maybe she could awaken her brother’s romantic side.
After all, she’s just playing the role of a matchmaker, and how things develop is up to them.
Thinking this, Audrey Sutton sent Phoebe King her brother’s basic information along with his phone number.
Audrey Sutton was initially worried that Phoebe King would relentlessly call her brother once she got his number. She was thinking about how to politely suggest to Phoebe King not to be too aggressive.
Phoebe King then sent a message saying: But he doesn’t seem to like me now. If he finds out I called, he’ll be even more annoyed.
After a few seconds, Phoebe King added: Does he teach you too? When is his class? Take me to sit in on one.
Audrey Sutton replied, "There’s one tomorrow morning."
...
At noon, Shane Warner came to the school to see Audrey Sutton and check on her injured foot, and they had lunch together.
During the meal.
Audrey Sutton said, "Let me tell you something."
Shane Warner replied, "Mm."
Audrey Sutton smiled and said, "Sister Phoebe wants to be my sister-in-law."
Shane Warner paused while picking up some food, then skeptically asked, "Her?"
Audrey Sutton chuckled, "Actually, I don’t know Sister Phoebe that well yet. I just want to ask if she’s someone who’s very casual about relationships?"
Shane Warner, unreserved, commented, "Quite a few exes."
"Really? But she’s pursuing my brother now, and she seems pretty sincere."
"Just a fleeting interest," Shane Warner analyzed indifferently, "But your brother won’t fall for it. This business will cool off in a few days."
Audrey Sutton pondered. Although Phoebe King was quite different from the sister-in-law she envisioned, she had held some hope for them. Now hearing Shane Warner’s analysis, it felt like a bucket of cold water was poured over her.
"Focus on your studies and mind your own business."
Audrey Sutton pouted, lowered her head, and continued eating in silence.
Inside, she had an impulse to express her genuine feelings and thoughts to Shane Warner.
Whether it was Phoebe King or Clarissa Morgan, their courage in love was something she should learn from.
But she was cluttered with worries, even after nearly half a year of marriage, she still couldn’t see through Shane Warner’s thoughts.
Sometimes she felt he might like her a little, but he never said a kind word to her.
He took care of her well, but always treated her like a child, a little sister.
She feared that if she confessed her feelings, he would react like her brother did to Phoebe King, with annoyance.
Men’s minds are indeed hard to guess. If the saying "a woman’s pursuit of a man is a veil apart" is true, then it’s a thick veil!
After lunch, Shane Warner returned to his office, and Audrey Sutton went back to her dorm for a nap.
In the afternoon, heading to class, she saw Simon Sue under the teaching building with his manager and assistant. He probably also had a class that afternoon.
Audrey Sutton hadn’t seen Simon Sue at school for a while, but had heard from Barry Barrett that Simon Sue seemed to be filming some reality show in another province, so he hadn’t been to school recently.
Meng Qingyun’s Christmas Eve performance was approaching, and Simon Sue was a special guest. They were both people she didn’t particularly like, and Audrey Sutton was still more eager to shop and date Shane Warner alone, though that seemed unlikely.
However, watching a performance together could also be a kind of date. Being with him, Meng Qingyun’s irritation didn’t matter much.
"Sutton, do you know Simon Sue?" Barry Barrett asked when they entered the teaching building.
"No," Audrey Sutton answered without thinking.
Barry Barrett was puzzled, "I thought he looked at you several times just now; I assumed you knew each other privately."
"He also attended the auction The Sterling held last time, didn’t I tell you all then? I still suspect he and Clarissa Morgan are in cahoots."
"Really? I don’t think Simon Sue is that deep-minded, just a sunny big guy."
Audrey Sutton secretly rolled her eyes, thinking if Simon Sue was just a big guy, then there probably wouldn’t be any bad people in this world, his public persona had long collapsed in her eyes.
