Chapter 156: Chapter 156: Showing Off My Wife

Although Simon Sue’s image isn’t good, Audrey Sutton isn’t sure if he and Clarissa Morgan are in cahoots. It’s better to be cautious.

Audrey Sutton only has one afternoon class because she has trouble walking due to a foot injury, so Shane sent a driver to pick her up from school.

After class, Audrey didn’t go back to the dorm with Barry Barrett; instead, she waited for the car at the foot of the academic building.

Even though her foot is only sprained, it still hurts a bit because walking strains the injured muscles and bones.

Standing by the roadside, she supported herself on a nearby pillar and carefully moved her ankle.

Perhaps there was a traffic jam, as the second class began but the driver hadn’t arrived.

Audrey yawned and continued to read the comments section of her comic book.

"Hey!" As the sound reached her ears, someone also patted her on the shoulder.

Startled, Audrey turned to see Simon Sue standing behind her wearing a mask. Before she could roll her eyes, he brazenly said, "Waiting for me?"

Audrey didn’t want to talk to him, turned away, and continued to ignore Simon Sue, clearly showing her dislike.

Simon Sue seemed oblivious and cheerfully stood behind Audrey, saying, "It’s been a while; I’ve missed you."

Audrey couldn’t take it anymore and harshly warned Simon Sue: "Do you believe I’ll get my husband to beat you up!"

Simon Sue chuckled lightly, saying, "Still the same as before."

In the past, she often said to others: "Do you believe I’ll get my brother to beat you up!"

Audrey found his words inexplicable, but she already felt he was bizarre, not a good person, so it’s best to interact and speak less.

She tucked her phone into her clothes pocket and limped to the roadside, looking around.

Simon Sue followed again: "What’s wrong with your foot? Did your husband beat you?"

Audrey pretended not to hear or see, turning away and ignoring Simon Sue.

Two passing girls on the roadside pointed at Simon Sue, seemingly recognizing him, and his agent’s call came in right then.

"Take care of yourself." After saying this, Simon Sue walked away.

Only after a few seconds did Audrey look back to confirm he had left, feeling relieved. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢

She found Simon Sue’s strange behavior puzzling. Saying he approached her with ulterior motives made no sense as neither she nor Shane were connected to showbiz; claiming he was plotting with Clarissa Morgan to ruin her marriage with Shane seemed childish. Saying Simon Sue genuinely liked her was even less believable.

She considered herself reasonably attractive but not to the extent of turning heads universally.

Capturing Shane’s attention felt like an immense stroke of luck; thinking a national idol would fall for her seemed impossible.

But eliminating all these options, Simon Sue’s reasons for approaching her remained unexplainable.

Could it be... Simon Sue had issues?

While pondering this, the driver finally arrived.

Audrey got into the warm car, and the driver said, "This is from Third Young Master, who asked me to buy it for you."

Audrey looked at the paper bag the driver handed over; she recognized the logo from a milk tea shop opposite his company.

"Thank you." Smiling, she accepted it, took the milk tea out, and it felt warm in her hands.

"Thank Third Young Master; he specifically told me which shop to go to, saying you like the taste from there."

Audrey, a bit surprised, smiled, "Really?"

The driver started the car, smiling kindly, "It’s well known he spoils his wife; it’s genuine."

Audrey smiled, put the straw into the cup, and took a sip of the warm milk tea.

He must have asked for less sugar since this cup wasn’t as sweet as she usually drank, yet it felt much sweeter inside.

Although such "wife spoiling" is generally overstated, having this perception around her was excellent for Audrey.

After all, it sounds better than "new wife neglected" or "marriage in name only."

This cup of milk tea, whether a gesture or truly recognizing her preference, is something she can accept either way.

Regardless, the fact that he remembered which shop she liked, among so many tea shops opposite his company, showed he cared about her.

Audrey directly asked the driver to take her home; she didn’t go to Shane’s company.

In a good mood, Audrey planned to cook a delicious meal for Shane to enjoy when he returned from work.

She left the kitchen to discover it was nearly six, and seeing Shane hadn’t returned, Audrey reached into her coat pocket on the sofa for her phone and saw an unread message from Shane: "I have a client meeting tonight; want to join me for dinner?"

He sent the message near five.

Audrey hurriedly replied with a voice message: "I just saw your message; I thought you were coming home for dinner. I’ve already cooked."

Shane was already at the dining table, wondering why Audrey hadn’t replied yet.

She’s usually glued to her phone, responding almost instantly to his messages, so he wondered if his invitation wasn’t sincere enough or if something upset her earlier.

Seeing her reply now, he immediately opened it.

As Audrey’s voice played from the phone, the table of six people paused, all eyes on Shane.

A man across the table, appearing in his forties, teased, "Third Young Master’s wife is really virtuous. Unlike my wife, who can’t cook or do housework, only knows how to play mahjong all day."

Shane was engrossed in Audrey’s message, not considering others around him initially.

Fortunately, Audrey didn’t say anything negative; it became a great point for him to flaunt his wife.

Feeling slightly proud, he intentionally replied in a casual tone, "She fights over cooking at home, and the taste is just okay."

"I heard your wife is only twenty, for a young girl, being willing to cook is quite commendable."

Usually, mentioning Audrey’s age would evoke a grimace from Shane.

Today, Shane replied, "Yeah, she’s like a kid at home."

It sounded like complaining, but the words carried his adoration and subtle bragging.

Soon after, Audrey sent a photo of a table with six dishes, full of color, aroma, and flavor.

Looking at the elegantly plated but tasteless delicacies on the table in front of him, Shane suddenly wanted to go home.

"Third Young Master, you’re fortunate; The Suttons’ precious little princess is willing to cook for you. A little temper is nothing."

"That’s right, Third Young Master. Age doesn’t matter when women throw fits. Look at my wife, over forty, constantly crying, fighting, and being irrational daily. But you’re stuck with her; it’s exhausting. Your young girl is doing well."
