Chapter 142: Chapter 142: Outshining Clarissa Morgan

Audrey Sutton walked to the company downstairs, looking at the increasingly heavy snow, she called Flora, who’s in the midst of a heartbroken single period, and asked her to go shopping together. She wanted to get a new outfit to completely change her everyday style.

Next time she meets Clarissa Morgan, she definitely wants to outshine her.

The last trauma that rich second-generation brought Flora must’ve been significant to make her stay single for so long without the heart to start a new relationship.

Now she just squats in the dormitory every day soaking her feet while watching dramas and sometimes learns to play games with Barry Barrett.

When it comes to shopping, Flora is basically unstoppable no matter the weather.

Audrey made a call and Flora immediately came out.

Upon hearing that Audrey wanted to change her style, Flora said, "What’s up? Has your Third Young Master changed his taste?"

Audrey stubbornly said, "I just want to change my style myself, not to please anyone."

Flora made a couple of "tsk tsk" sounds, with a look that says she sees through it but won’t tell.

After shopping for an afternoon, they were definitely rewarded.

Previously, most of Audrey’s clothes were light-colored everyday wear styles, but today she bought mostly dark-themed queen styles.

The next day, Saturday, Audrey didn’t have to go to school, so Shane didn’t call her to get up.

He prepared breakfast for her and left it in the microwave, then headed out for work.

Audrey heard him leaving but stayed snuggled in bed, not wanting to get up.

She played on her phone until past ten before lazily climbing out of bed to start preparing lunch.

Once the dishes were almost ready, Audrey ran upstairs to change clothes and doll up.

She wore the black mermaid long dress she bought yesterday, high-neck and long-sleeve, perfectly outlining her waist and hips.

Her black hair was slightly curled, and her petite face, already delicate, was further enhanced by makeup, her fair face showing a cherry pink, and cherry-colored lips adding a touch of cool elegance.

She simply draped a uniquely styled wool coat over her outfit, grabbed the lunch box, and stepped out in high heels.

Standing outside the door for a moment, Audrey shivered in the cold wind.

She took a deep breath to muster the courage to step out.

At the intersection, she hailed a cab and soon arrived at the company downstairs.

Audrey, not yet warmed by the car’s heater, got off and faced the baptism of snow and wind.

Unable to resist a shiver, she thought to herself, does Clarissa Morgan naturally radiate warmth? She felt like she was about to turn into a snowman.

She walked to the company’s porch and saw a group of people dressed in suits coming out from inside. Despite the cold, Audrey immediately straightened herself, standing tall and pretending to be noble and unfazed, and walked into the company with them.

After passing them, she heard someone behind her discussing, "Wasn’t that lady just now Third Young Master’s wife?"

People inside the company chuckled as they answered, "Yes, she was."

"Indeed a perfect match of talent and beauty, born to be together, so compatible!"

Listening to others’ praises, Audrey’s lips secretly curled up; she felt that the cold she endured was worth it.

She got into the elevator, and only then, with no one around, did she hurriedly rub her purple fingers.

Standing in the elevator looking at the mirror, she was especially satisfied with her look today, unable to resist internally celebrating, envisioning that Shane should be amazed when he sees her later, right?

"Dingdong—"

"President Warner, Second Young Master said to hand this proposal over to you for review."

"Put it in my office."

As the elevator door opened slowly, Audrey heard the conversation outside the elevator.

Shane happened to pass by the elevator, and upon seeing the girl inside, initially thought he had the wrong person.

After sizing her up and down, he couldn’t help but frown.

He reached out to take the file bag from the person reporting next to him and said quietly, "You have nothing else here, go get busy."

That person, being sensible, nodded, turned around, and left immediately.

Audrey, lips pursed, smiled a bit shyly and walked out of the elevator, standing bashfully in front of him, glanced at him, and asked, "...Are you done? How about eating first?"

Shane didn’t look at the lunch box she was holding, just sternly glanced at her exposed ankles under the dress, "What’s wrong with you?"

His serious tone left Audrey momentarily stunned, as she heard him continue, "What are you wearing?"

Audrey looked down at her outfit, looked up at him, and asked, "Doesn’t it look good? I bought it new when shopping yesterday."

He suddenly squatted down, slightly lifted her long dress hem, and touched her ankle. Feeling the icy touch, confirmed she wasn’t wearing any "body warming artifact", but just a skirt that clearly didn’t keep warm, his face immediately soured. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦

Audrey at first didn’t react to what he was doing and just happened to see some company employees leave from the elevator next to her. Her feet instinctively moved back a bit while he straightened up and reprimanded her, saying, "Is this weather suitable for this outfit? Did you leave your brain at home again?"

"...Hello Third Young Master, hello Madam." Two girls coming out of the adjacent elevator, forced a smile to greet them, Audrey blushing, awkwardly smiled back at them, and Shane immediately scolded, "Still have the face to laugh?!"

The two girls sensed something wrong and quickly hurried away.

"Keep your voice down, you’re embarrassing me..." Audrey frowned discontentedly, "Many girls dress like this on the street, and besides, if they’re selling this kind of clothes in this weather, it means they’re meant to be worn now."

Shane saw her earnest look and asked, "You’re not cold, right?"

Audrey quickly shook her head, "Not cold."

Shane watched her shiver while nodding and couldn’t help but find it both amusing and irritating.

Who knows what’s gotten into her head, usually dressed in down jackets and overcoats, but today dressed so lightly, with makeup and curled hair.

She indeed looked good, but it wasn’t necessary.

Even normally dressed in a big overcoat with a ponytail and bare face, she looked quite nice.

Not sure who’s gotten to her, she seemed like a different person.

Shane took a breath, grabbed her wrist and walked into the office, asking, "Do you have an event this afternoon?"

Audrey shook her head, "Nope."

"Then why are you dressed this way?"

"...Just because there’s time over the weekend to dress up." Then she tentatively asked him, "...Do you think I look good?"

Shane glared at her with a cold face, and said nastily, "Short skirts look better."

Audrey heard the sarcasm in his words, and sullenly closed her mouth.

Anyway, she thought her outfit today looked quite nice; too bad she didn’t bump into Clarissa Morgan, that old manipulative woman.
