Chapter 135: Chapter 135: Scumbag Behavior

Listening to Shane Warner’s logical analysis left Audrey Sutton completely stunned.

Shane Warner went on, "Just like when you got so drunk that you couldn’t think straight, yet when you saw me, such a fine man, you just shamelessly snuggled into my arms, hugging and kissing. That’s an uncontrollable physiological reaction."

Audrey Sutton, infuriated, retorted, "Quit acting all smug after getting what you wanted!"

Shane Warner then said, "You should be grateful it was me you bumped into. The bar was full of all sorts, and you dared to get yourself that drunk. Your bravery seems to have grown despite not learning your lesson."

Audrey Sutton let out a muffled "humph," picked up a piece of rib, and buried her head in eating.

She felt Shane Warner made a point and was indeed grateful the incident happened with him.

However, she just didn’t like his lecturing tone. She felt it takes two to tango. Even if she was causing a drunken scene, he, being a tall and strong man, could have completely stopped everything from happening.

Though the outcome didn’t really bother her, she didn’t like how Shane Warner pushed all the blame onto her.

What a jerk!

The jerk finished his lunch and went to the company, while Audrey Sutton, standing by the kitchen sink washing dishes, felt overjoyed inside.

It felt good to be back home again.

She once thought she might never come back.

Even if she did, it might just be the day she packed her things to leave.

Pea was chasing a paper ball on the floor, while General just lay on the sofa lazily flicking his tail and watching Pea.

After getting tired from chasing the paper ball, Pea lightly jumped onto the sofa and tried to steal General’s spot.

General, with his really good temperament, simply got up and gave Pea his spot, then lay down on the carpet next to the sofa.

If Shane Warner could be half as gentle and generous as General, it would be great.

After two consecutive days of heavy snow, the swimming pool froze over in the afternoon.

In the morning, when Audrey Sutton was heading to school, she held Shane Warner’s arm and tentatively tried stepping on the pool ice.

She pushed down a bit to test the thickness of the ice, but it was too thin and shattered with a slight touch.

The icy water instantly seeped into her Martin boot through the side zipper.

Audrey Sutton quickly lifted her foot, but it was too late; her sock was already wet.

Shane Warner said nothing and watched her with a look as if she were an idiot.

Embarrassed, Audrey Sutton turned around to go back and hurriedly changed her shoes before running back to him. Seeing him still waiting there, she smilingly apologized, "Let’s go."

He coldly mocked, "Did you bring your brains out with you this time?"

"You’re the one who didn’t bring your brain."

The car drove on the freshly cleared road, with small snow mountains piled on either side. Passing by a theater near the school, Audrey Sutton saw a large poster outside.

She missed the text on the poster, but could immediately recognize the woman in a black ballet dress: it was Clarissa Morgan.

Audrey Sutton subconsciously turned to glance at Shane Warner who was driving and noticed he was looking straight ahead, seemingly not noticing Clarissa Morgan’s performance poster.

"Just drop me off at that gift shop by the intersection," Audrey Sutton pointed to a spot not far away.

Shane Warner checked the road situation through the rearview mirror, gradually slowed down and pulled over, asking her, "Who are you buying a gift for?"

"Vanessa, it’s her birthday the day after tomorrow."

Hearing it was for a girl, Shane Warner didn’t ask further.

After seeing her walk into the store, he was about to turn the car to head to the company when he suddenly saw a man in a trench coat and mask enter the store, too.

Though he couldn’t see the man’s face clearly, Shane Warner instinctively thought of Simon Sue.

Contemplating this, he turned off the engine, got out of the car, and entered the gift shop.

The store was large, with shelves full of delicate and interesting little gifts on the first floor.

It was still early, so there weren’t many customers inside.

While Shane Warner stood at the entrance scanning around, he saw a black figure vanish at the top of the spiral staircase leading to the second floor.

He withdrew his searching gaze, then slowly started up the stairs.

Once upstairs, by a shelf filled with anime merchandise, he saw Audrey Sutton, and also saw the man in black.

The man removed his mask, leaned towards Audrey Sutton, and said something with a smile.

While Audrey Sutton had her back to Shane Warner, Simon Sue stood facing her. As Shane Warner approached, Simon Sue saw him.

Catching each other’s gaze, instead of relenting, Simon Sue, as if provoked, deliberately leaned towards Audrey Sutton in a suggestive manner.

Audrey Sutton instinctively leaned back to avoid Simon Sue’s approach. Meanwhile, a force from her waist pulled her backward, and her body fell into a firm embrace. Before she could turn her head to see who it was, a familiar voice came from above her head, "Haven’t found anything yet?"

After steadying herself, Audrey Sutton asked him slightly surprised, "What are you doing here?"

Noticing Shane Warner’s gaze lingering on Simon Sue, Audrey Sutton was momentarily at a loss on how to introduce him or explain before Simon Sue, with a pleasant smile, boldly extended his hand toward Shane Warner, saying, "President Warner, I’ve long admired you."

Shane Warner glanced at Simon Sue’s hand, courteously reached out to shake it, but almost immediately withdrew after just brushing Simon Sue’s fingertips, smilingly asked, "Are you Audrey’s classmate?"

That one word, "Audrey," caught Audrey Sutton a bit off guard.

Simon Sue nodded lightly, slightly correcting, "Friend."

Shane Warner chuckled, "I haven’t heard Audrey mention it, she’s always talking about those girls in her dorm, never thought there’d be a little guy too." 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦

Shane Warner’s words sounded poised yet targeted Simon Sue with the phrase "little guy."

Being an actor, Simon Sue’s ability to mask emotions was naturally good. Even though he sensed the subdued hostility and sarcasm in Shane Warner’s words, he pretended not to understand and retorted, "Among peers, you just connect, regardless of gender."

"Annoying!" Audrey Sutton spat these two words at Simon Sue and then quickly latched onto Shane Warner’s arm, walking away.

After passing two shelves, confirming Simon Sue wasn’t following, Audrey Sutton stopped and said, "He was just talking nonsense, I’m not even familiar with him."

Shane Warner responded with a bland "Oh?"

His tone carried three parts disbelief and seven parts skepticism, waiting for Audrey Sutton to continue.

Audrey Sutton looked around cautiously, then tiptoed close to Shane Warner’s ear, whispering, "I think he’s stalking me."

Shane Warner furrowed his brows, softly asked, "How long has this been?"

"It’s hard to say... He often appears at school, but every time we run into each other, he doesn’t do anything to me. I have no idea what he wants, just that he’s really annoying."

Seeing Audrey Sutton’s tone and demeanor as she spoke, Shane Warner could tell she was truly troubled.

And he previously misunderstood that she might like Simon Sue, but now it seemed she was being harassed.
