Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 134: Begging Me in Tears to Pick You Up
Thinking of this, Audrey Sutton hurriedly crawled out of bed in a panic.
As she reached out for the switch on the wall, the room suddenly lit up with a "click" even though she hadn’t touched it yet.
"Awake? Woke up hungry?"
Seeing Shane Warner, Audrey Sutton was momentarily stunned.
A myriad of information flashed through her mind instantly.
She first lifted the quilt to check and confirmed that something definitely happened last night.
Because not only was she unclothed, but she also felt aches all over her body.
After confirming, she looked at Shane Warner with a questioning and dissatisfied gaze, as if blaming him for something.
Shane Warner walked unhurriedly into the room, heading straight to the window, and said while pulling open the curtain, "It’s snowing."
Audrey immediately glanced at the window, only to realize that Shane was changing the subject. She hastily pulled him back on track, persistently asking, "What did you do to me last night?"
Shane turned after tidying the curtain, looked at her, and slowly retorted, "Don’t you remember what you did?"
Audrey was stunned. What did he mean by that? It sounded like she took advantage of him.
"I... I was drunk, what could I have done?"
"Don’t remember anything?" Shane pretended to frown unhappily.
He put in effort all night, yet she couldn’t remember a thing.
Audrey said nothing, but her face quietly turned red.
Upon waking up, she thought those images and sensations in her mind were a dream. Now, recalling it, they really had such an intimate night.
Even though the marriage might not last, he was a man she liked after all; thinking about it still felt quite wonderful.
Shane walked to the bedside, looked at her, and said softly, "You hugged me, asking me not to leave, and also said..."
"Said what?"
"Said you like me."
Audrey’s eyes widened in shock, and her face turned even redder.
Shane’s inner amusement didn’t show on his face, "No rebuttal?"
Audrey was stunned again.
Shane: "I made it up."
Audrey didn’t know how to switch her expression for a moment, stared blankly for three or four seconds before saying, "...I knew you were making it up, who the hell would like you!"
The amusement in Shane’s heart finally surfaced on his face, reaching his eyes, where he silently smiled.
Audrey came back to her senses and started scolding him relentlessly, "You opportunistic scoundrel! Hypocrite!"
Thinking quickly, she continued, "You... you have to compensate me, or you can forget about a divorce!"
"Divorce?" Shane leaned against the wardrobe, crossed his arms, and looked at her saying, "Let’s delay it for now. If you end up pregnant, it’ll be quite a hassle if you secretly have an illegitimate child for me."
Hearing those five words "Let’s delay it for now," the heavy stone in Audrey’s heart fell, even if only temporarily.
Determined, she said, "Who wants to have a child for you?! If I really get pregnant, I’d just... I’d just..."
Even she couldn’t bring herself to say the words "abort it," and Shane naturally didn’t believe she would do such a thing, "It’s past one o’clock, get up quickly and have breakfast, spare some time to wash your bed sheets."
After speaking, Shane turned and left the room.
Only then did Audrey hug the quilt and search on the bed sheets, seeing dark red stains on the pink sheets, and her face began to heat up again.
Fragmented images surged in her mind, making her hardly believe those things actually happened.
After changing her clothes, the first thing Audrey did was change the bed sheet; just seeing the blood stains made her feel extraordinarily ashamed.
She was a bit worried now that Shane might think she’s some kind of loose woman.
Outside the window, the snowflakes drifted, not accumulating much yet, just forming a thin white layer on the tops of tree branches.
When Audrey went downstairs, she saw hot dishes laid out on the dining table.
Smelling the aroma of the food, her stomach growled with a "gurgle" sound.
Seeing Shane coming out of the kitchen carrying soup, he glanced at her and softly said, "Wash your hands and eat."
Audrey peered at him, suddenly feeling like she had traveled back in time before their cold war began; he seemed perfectly normal now.
Though there still weren’t a large number of expressions on his face, the coldness in his eyes was gone.
They say alcohol causes trouble, but she felt last night’s drinks did her a big favor.
Otherwise, she would likely have still been hiding under the dormitory blanket, unable to eat or drink, and then gone to find him for a divorce on Monday with a dead heart.
However, his mood was truly unpredictable, mysteriously distant and cold, then inexplicably returning to normal.
Was it just because she had slept with him?
Perhaps men really do think with their lower half? Even someone as consistently sober and meticulous as him was no exception?
"Not hungry?"
His chilling voice snapped her back to reality; Audrey hesitated and then went to the faucet to wash her hands, sitting modestly by the dining table.
Only when he picked up his chopsticks to eat did she quietly pick up the chopsticks next to her, eating a couple of bites before glancing at him, afraid she might inadvertently trigger his cold war mode again.
"Why did you drink so much last night?"
Hearing his question, Audrey pursed her lips and replied, "...Flora broke up, she called us to keep her company."
"She broke up, so why did you get yourself drunk?"
With little confidence, Audrey mumbled, "...I was just drinking with her."
Shane elegantly picked up some food while saying to her, "Don’t you have any self-awareness about your limits?"
Audrey was silent for a moment, then couldn’t help but curiously ask, "How did you find me, anyway?"
Shane lightly raised his left eyebrow, feigned seriousness and said, "You called me, remember? Crying, and begged me to pick you up."
The action of chewing paused slightly for Audrey, she looked at him with skepticism, not quite confident as she questioned, "You didn’t make this up again, did you?"
"Why else would you be here now?"
On second thought, Audrey agreed, but she still felt he surely exaggerated; she certainly didn’t cry begging him!
"...And then what happened?" She was rather curious about how things developed to that point.
"Do you want the details or just the gist?"
Audrey blushed from his teasing look and then firmly asserted, "No need to think, you just took advantage of me being drunk!"
Shane chuckled softly, slightly tilted his head back, raised his hand to point at his cracked lower lip with his index finger, "You bit it."
Audrey: "..."
"There are more on my body. Want to see?"
After being embarrassed, Audrey refused to back down, she reached to pull down the collar of her turtleneck sweater showing the fresh hickeys on her neck accusingly, "Look for yourself! Also, I was drunk and not thinking straight, not only did you not stop me, you even... you even tortured me!"
"There’s something called a ’physiological response.’ It’s just a normal bodily reaction, like feeling thirsty and wanting to drink water, feeling hungry and wanting to eat, closing your eyes when sand gets in them, it’s involuntary." He explained in a tone like a seasoned professor giving a lecture, justifying his taking advantage of her.
