Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 106: President Warner’s First Love
Audrey Sutton actually felt a bit sorry for Vincent Warner, sensing that he harbored guilt and wanted Shane’s forgiveness, while Shane’s attitude was very firm.
Regarding her brother’s incident back then, what exactly is the truth?
Was her brother’s death really related to Vincent Warner?
From what Audrey Sutton currently knew about Vincent Warner, he didn’t seem like someone who would resort to any means for personal gain.
Under the bright yellow lights, desserts, snacks, fruits, and various drinks were arranged on the long table.
As Audrey Sutton made her selection, she caught a glimpse of a figure in white from the corner of her eye. Turning her head, she saw it was Lan Irving.
Lan Irving held a plate, filling it with cut fruits as she said, "Long time no see."
Audrey Sutton looked around. Not many people were eating, and despite the long table, Lan Irving squeezed next to her, clearly seeking her out deliberately.
Audrey Sutton then smiled, looked at Lan Irving, and said, "Yes, Shane hardly goes to Starfield nowadays, so I don’t need to go there to find him, and indeed, it’s been a while since I saw Secretary Irving! I’ve missed you."
Lan Irving chuckled softly, "I once thought he truly loved you, but just now, I changed my mind."
"Oh?" Audrey Sutton didn’t know what Lan Irving was about to say, but she knew nothing nice would come from her.
Lan Irving put down the plate, unzipped the pearl clutch in Audrey’s hand, and pulled out the phone.
As she swiped through the phone, she said, "Have you ever heard of Clarissa Morgan?"
Audrey Sutton smiled lightly, "I’m all ears."
"She is supposedly President Warner’s first love. Did you know that?"
"Let me correct you," Audrey Sutton interrupted with a light laugh, "They were university classmates. Miss Morgan was merely one of his pursuers, not a first love."
Lan Irving seemed surprised that Audrey knew this, "Then do you know President Warner still keeps in touch with her? Do you think she’s at his birthday party today just because she’s Quentin Sterling’s wife?"
"Why else?"
Lan Irving handed the phone to Audrey Sutton’s face, her tone soft with a hint of gloat, "This is what I just captured."
Audrey Sutton looked at the photo on the phone. Although it was just their backs, it was obvious that the man and woman were Shane and Clarissa Morgan.
The background appeared to be the balcony they passed just now. What were they doing alone in such a secluded place?
Just looking at the photo was enough to stir the imagination, and Audrey Sutton’s mind ran through every possibility.
Despite her inward unease and musings about what those two did when meeting alone, she acted unconcerned and said to Lan Irving, "They were university classmates; it’s not strange to chat a bit when meeting. I’m not that petty. You can’t be too controlling with a man; it’ll backfire. Remember this, Sis Irving, you’ll need it someday when you’re married."
Lan Irving: "Marriage is like drinking water; whether it’s warm or cold, only you know. Pretending to be happy is just self-deception."
"Sis Irving, you said it yourself, whether it’s warm or cold is our own affair, so there’s no need for you to worry about my marriage."
Saying this, Audrey Sutton elegantly carried a plate of snacks and turned to walk away.
Even if she herself was suspicious about what they did when meeting alone, she would never show anxiety in front of Lan Irving, as that was exactly what Lan Irving wanted to see.
Some people are just that idle, not minding their own business but always doing things that neither benefit themselves nor others.
Shane had introduced her to his friends earlier. Audrey Sutton didn’t know any of them. If she had to listen to his conversations with them, which were of no interest to her, it would be boring. So, she found a table without any people to sit at with her plate of snacks.
Quietly observing those two women who seemed to want to snag her man.
"Jealous much!"
Audrey Sutton was taken aback and then saw Phoebe King sitting across from her.
Unlike the other girls at the event, Phoebe King wasn’t wearing a fancy dress.
She wore a simple T-shirt with a black leather jacket and tight jeans, her hair tied in a ponytail, a motorcycle helmet in her hand, embodying the word: cool.
"Sister Phoebe, why are you here?"
Phoebe King chuckled, "I came to see if there might be a romantic encounter."
Audrey Sutton teased, "Aren’t you someone else’s romantic encounter?"
"You’ve got quite the sweet mouth. By the way, next time call me Brother Phoebe, not ’Sister Phoebe,’ it’s so cheesy."
Audrey Sutton nodded and immediately said, "Hello, Brother Phoebe."
Phoebe King leaned closer with a mischievous smile, asking softly, "I heard you have several brothers, each very handsome. Interested in making me your sister-in-law?"
"I’m interested, just not sure if my silly brothers can be so lucky."
"Phoebe." Clarissa Morgan walked over, "Didn’t expect to see you here?"
Phoebe King turned to see it was Clarissa Morgan, greeting her with a big smile, "Oh, it’s Clarissa! Didn’t expect you still kept in touch with Brother Shane."
Clarissa Morgan smiled, "Didn’t expect to see you here either."
Audrey Sutton watched the two, saying nothing, just thinking Clarissa Morgan’s social circle seemed wide, like she knew everyone.
After the two exchanged a few pleasantries, Clarissa Morgan left.
Phoebe King instantly dropped her fake smile and whispered to Audrey Sutton, "You know about her and Brother Shane, right?"
Audrey Sutton was taken aback and probed, "You mean how she used to chase Shane?"
Phoebe King nodded, "Yeah, she used every trick and scheme, but my Brother Shane didn’t pay her any mind. But you should watch out for her, this woman is like a performer with a lot of tricks up her sleeve."
Audrey Sutton originally thought Phoebe King’s relationship with Clarissa Morgan was genuinely good, but it seemed Phoebe, despite her carefree exterior, understood everything clearly inside.
"Did you have a fight with Shane?"
Audrey Sutton took a bite of her dessert, shook her head, and said, "No."
"I saw you both doing your own things, thought maybe you had a quarrel."
Audrey Sutton smiled, "I’m not familiar with his friends. Let them have their get-together, meanwhile I was hungry, so I came to grab something to eat."
"True, sometimes you can’t keep too tight a grip on men. It’s important for both to maintain their circles, as long as he doesn’t misbehave. Other men might not be trustworthy, but my Brother Shane would never cross that line."
This wasn’t the first time Phoebe King firmly vouched for Shane Warner, prompting Audrey Sutton to curiously ask, "Why are you so sure?"
"You don’t know how exaggerated Clarissa Morgan was in chasing him—she nearly threw herself into Brother Shane’s bed."
