Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 107: Probably Because I’m Good-Looking
Audrey Sutton asked again, "Then why wasn’t Shane Warner with her at the time?"
Phoebe King said proudly, "My brother Shane is a smart man, his ability to spot green tea bitches is top-notch. A woman like Clarissa Morgan would have other men falling at her feet."
Audrey Sutton chuckled. Indeed, up to this point, she was satisfied with Shane Warner’s handling of Clarissa Morgan’s situation.
But she also realized how hard he was to settle with before marriage, suddenly a bit relieved that she only had a secret crush on him without taking any actual action. Otherwise, would she have ended up like Clarissa Morgan?
"Since Shane married you, he will definitely be responsible for you, so you don’t need to worry too much about those wildflowers, Shane knows his limits."
Audrey Sutton nodded, and then Phoebe King got up to find Faye Xavier and the others.
Although Phoebe King’s words were reassuring, Audrey Sutton didn’t feel happy inside.
From what Phoebe King said, Shane Warner was only responsible for the marriage, and it had nothing to do with love.
This person could be her, or it could be someone else.
If back then Laura Yates had married him, then he would be treating Laura Yates the same way now.
Thinking of this, Audrey Sutton felt stifled.
After having her fill, Audrey Sutton walked over to Shane Warner.
A few people were sitting around the table drinking and chatting.
Seeing her approaching, Shane Warner moved Faye Xavier, who was sitting beside him, aside and beckoned to her, "Come over."
Faye Xavier immediately stood up and looked at Audrey Sutton with a grin, "Sis-in-law, please sit down. We were just talking about you!"
Audrey Sutton walked over and sat beside Shane Warner, slightly embarrassed, asked, "Talking about me?"
Faye Xavier laughed mischievously, "Yes, we were just discussing how Master Shane managed to woo you."
Upon hearing this, Audrey Sutton turned to look at Shane Warner, anticipating his response.
Everyone’s gaze fell on him, and he solemnly said, "Probably because I’m handsome."
Audrey Sutton: "..."
Well, she’s not wrong. When she approached him for marriage, she did say, "At least you’re handsome."
"Hahaha, young girls indeed get attracted by looks. I remember when I was young, I also got together with Old Man Linton because he was handsome. It wasn’t until after we married that I realized looks can be useless."
"How can it be useless?!"
Faye Xavier quickly interrupted, "Enough with the driving, sis-in-law is still young."
Audrey Sutton blushed a little and remained silent, although she had plenty of such conversations in the dorm, she felt a bit shy in front of so many strangers.
Even though she didn’t speak, she couldn’t help but wonder if Shane Warner was also just a pretty face.
Quentin Sterling walked over with Clarissa Morgan in his arms and sat down next to them, asking, "What are you chatting about so happily?"
As soon as he finished speaking, before anyone could answer, Miles Sterling stood up with his companion beside him and said to Shane Warner with a light smile, "Shane, I’m heading back first. Happy birthday."
Shane Warner knew about the discord between Miles Sterling and Quentin Sterling, so he nodded, "Let’s get together another day."
Quentin Sterling looked thoughtfully at Miles Sterling leaving, then casually asked Audrey Sutton, "Audrey, didn’t you go shopping with Vanessa to buy a gift for Shane the other day? Why didn’t you give it today?"
Shane Warner raised an eyebrow slightly and turned to Audrey Sutton, "Did you buy me a gift?"
Audrey Sutton originally planned to give it to him privately after the event, but since the topic was brought up, she took the opportunity to take the gift she had prepared from her small bag.
Under everyone’s attention, she handed the box to Shane Warner with a hint of shyness and bashfulness on her face.
Shane Warner smiled slightly, curling one corner of his lips and taking the box.
He had always assumed Audrey Sutton didn’t know it was his birthday before coming here, so he hadn’t expected her to prepare a gift for him in advance.
There was a feeling of having raised a daughter for many years, who finally learned to be filial.
"May I open it?" he asked her, looking down.
Amongst all the gifts, he was most curious about the one in his hand.
Audrey Sutton nodded with a smile, watching him open the gift with a mix of expectation and anxiety.
Firstly, she feared he might not like it; secondly, because Clarissa Morgan also gave him a watch, and hers is several times more expensive.
As Shane Warner took the watch out of the box, a male voice beside them said, "Clarissa’s gift is a watch too, it seems."
Audrey Sutton vaguely heard these comments, and still felt a little worried, timidly asking Shane Warner:
"How is it? Do you like it?"
Before Shane Warner could answer, a male classmate who was quite familiar with Clarissa Morgan joked, "Seems like it might not be to Shane’s liking anymore, he just said he was used to his own watch."
Then a girl added, "And Clarissa’s watch is more expensive."
Faye Xavier chuckled, "If you’re not gonna wear it, Master Shane, you can give it to me."
Shane Warner stayed silent, only removing the watch from his left wrist with his right hand before saying, "It’s not about the price, but about how it suits me. My wife knows me better. This watch is a new model. I was planning to buy it myself, and she gave it to me."
Audrey Sutton didn’t know if Shane Warner was really planning to buy that watch, but his words at this moment definitely gave her a lot of face.
Especially in front of Clarissa Morgan.
Shane Warner took off his own watch, looking down at Audrey Sutton, "Aren’t you going to help me put it on?"
Audrey Sutton realized it a moment later, smiling foolishly, and hurriedly took the watch to put it on his wrist.
There was no excessive physical contact, yet she felt inexplicably a bit of ambiguous tension.
Even just his half-exposed wrist, with slightly protruding bones, drew artistically rendered lines extending to his fingers. It was a pair of beautiful hands that satisfied the desires of hand-lovers, and Audrey Sutton blushed unknowingly staring at his hands.
Having never worn a watch before, she fumbled a bit before successfully strapping it onto his wrist.
In a soft voice, Shane Warner told her, "I like it very much."
Even though his face didn’t show obvious smiling, and his tone was flat, there was an unmistakable affection for Audrey Sutton in his words.
It carried an underlying sentiment of loving everything about the person you love. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
Faye Xavier teased nearby, "No matter what Sis-in-law buys, even if it’s a toy watch from a roadside stall, Master Shane will cherish it."
Quentin Sterling, missing the story between the two watches, laughed, "If a husband’s gift wasn’t well-received, he’d be kneeling on the keyboard, durian, and washboard in succession at home."
