Mr. CEO's Ex-Wife: A Cunning Comeback-Chapter 345: Get Ready
Chapter 345: Chapter 345: Get Ready
Stephanie raised an eyebrow. "Are you trying to rush me to open it?"
Kane quickly shook his head. "No, not at all. Take your time."
Kane made a funny face at Stephanie just as she turned her back.
Railer watched them, feeling a little envious of how playful they were with each other. Still, he kept a serious look on his face, like he wasn’t a kid at all.
Stephanie unlocked the door with her fingerprint, mostly for Railer’s sake.
When the door opened, Railer walked into an elegant, modern room. It was filled with electronic gadgets and even robots.
"Pearce, open the game room," Stephanie said.
"Opening the game room now."
As soon as Stephanie gave the command, the doors behind the computer room slid open, revealing a game room that looked like a high-tech playground.
Kane ran inside and jumped into a bumper car. He waved at Railer. "Rai, come join me!"
Railer didn’t move. He looked at Stephanie and asked, "Pearce? Who’s that?"
"Pearce is the name of the AI system here. It was also the name Mommy gave you when Daddy took you away. She used it as a promise to bring you back." Stephanie quickly explained.
Back when they were still in Carcosa, Kane and Stephanie had no idea that Railer existed. That’s why, when they returned to Easthan, Kane pretended to be him.
Chantelle only told them the truth later on.
Railer felt something awaken in his heart. Kane noticed he didn’t seem interested in playing, so he gently held his hand and started showing him around the room.
"Look at this computer," Kane said. "It has the latest tech. Our godfather gave one to each of us. I used to think this extra one was for Mommy, but she barely used it. I always wondered why. Turns out, she was saving it for you."
He pointed to the suits on display. "And these are our superhuman suits. They’re super strong, fireproof and can’t be damaged. Each of us has one."
Kane grinned and walked over to the bumper car. "Have you ever ridden one of these? I picked the dark blue color myself. Do you like it? It can even transform!"
Kane climbed back into his black bumper car and started playing with the steering wheel. The car quickly transformed into a cool-looking robot.
"Rai, get into that one," he said excitedly. "We can even battle each other! Steph always cries when she loses, so I can’t go full force with her!"
Railer was still a kid, after all. At five years old, no child could resist something that fun. After hearing Kane’s words, he finally climbed into the other bumper car.
Stephanie patiently showed him how to control the car, but Railer picked it up quickly. He was smart and learned quickly.
Soon, the two boys were having a blast with their transforming cars while Stephanie sat at her computer.
Her computer was pink, and the wallpaper was a photo of Xander.
As she stared at his face, memories of their time in Carcosa came flooding back.
She clearly remembered how strongly she had opposed Chantelle and Kane siding with Daniel. She kept warning them not to be fooled, reminding them that Daniel was the enemy and her godfather was their real family.
But in the end, she became close to Daniel too.
Now, thinking about it, she couldn’t help but feel guilty toward her godfather.
Even so, she couldn’t forget the image of Daniel lying on the floor when Chantelle took her away earlier. She felt bad for him too.
Who was she supposed to choose?
Stephanie moved her mouse without thinking, scrolling through her photos. Most of them had Xander in them. Anyone who didn’t know better would think they were a real family.
Then she saw a photo that had both Xander and Joseph.
They used to call him "Uncle Jo," and he had always been kind to them. But not long after, he vanished without a trace. Kane once told her the next time they saw him was in Easthan. Like Trenton, Joseph had turned against their Mommy.
"Uncle Jo..." Stephanie whispered. Then suddenly, something popped up in her mind.
Their godfather and their dad weren’t the same person. Their godfather loved them like an uncle, while their dad was connected to them by blood. She realized she could love them both.
It would be nice if the two of them could be friends one day.
"Oh no! I lost! How is this possible? This doesn’t make any sense!"
Stephanie turned toward the voice and saw Kane’s robot getting beat up by Railer’s.
"Steph, help me! Come save me!" Kane shouted, but before she could react, Railer finished him off and left his robot lying on the ground.
"I admit defeat!" Kane said as he crawled out of his bumper car. Then he looked at Railer and asked how he managed to beat him.
Railer patiently explained his strategy.
Just then, Stephanie walked over with three glasses of milk. "Do you guys want something to drink?"
Kane was already thirsty from all the talking. He grabbed his glass and drank half of it in one go. Then he burped and said, "No wonder Mommy always bought things in threes. I used to think she wanted to play with the toys too, but she was actually saving them for Rai."
"You didn’t realize that because you’re too stupid," Stephanie rolled her eyes. She had figured it out a long time ago. Chantelle never used those things and didn’t let anyone else touch them either. It was clear she had bought them for someone special.
Stephanie had tried asking her about it before, but Chantelle never gave a clear answer. She would just stare out the window, lost in thought. After a while, Stephanie stopped asking her.
"Get ready. We’re going to visit him now," Chantelle said as she knocked on the door.
Railer was still moved by the fact that Chantelle had always remembered him, even when he wasn’t with them in Carcosa. Without asking where they were going, he silently followed them into the car.
Chantelle had thought about telling Railer to stay home since they were visiting someone he didn’t know. But she was worried he might overthink it, so she decided to bring him along.
"Rai, do you know our godfather?" Kane, as usual, couldn’t stay silent and started talking to Railer in the car.
Railer blinked and slowly shook his head.
