Chapter 267: Chapter 267: I’ll Make Him Pay For It

Anthony was nervous. If Camille’s position was threatened, his own future would be in danger too.

"No wonder Ro wants to bring her back," Camille muttered and her voice shook angrily. "He wants to win Grandpa’s favor."

Years ago, Grandpa had taken her for a paternity test because she looked a bit like Madame Nelsen. Ever since then, he had always doted on her.

She couldn’t allow a girl who looked so much like Madame Nelsen to appear in front of Grandpa.

"Before the girl goes back to Carcosa, Ms. Nelsen, we should..." Anthony leaned in and whispered in her ear.

Camille was taken aback. She was utterly baffled and unsure about Anthony’s suggestion.

Meanwhile, Rowan was on a call with Daniel.

"Mr. Nelsen, why did you take my daughter?" Daniel asked coldly as he held back his anger.

"Steph was lost. She called me and asked me to pick her up," Rowan said flatly. He didn’t like Daniel, especially after hearing what Stephanie told him.

"Thank you, Mr. Nelsen. I’ll come get her immediately," Daniel replied. He didn’t want to waste time arguing. He just wanted to see his daughter.

If Rowan hurt Steph even a little, I’ll make him pay for it. Daniel clenched his fist at the thought.

"Of course, you can take Steph if she wants to go with you." Rowan looked at Stephanie. She stared at him. He crouched down and turned on the speaker.

"She’s my daughter. Of course, she wants to come home with me," Daniel said with a cold snort.

Then he heard Steph’s voice through the phone.

"I don’t want to go back home. I want to stay with Uncle Rowan. Don’t come here."

Daniel felt hurt by her words. "Steph, I was wrong yesterday. I shouldn’t have yelled at you. You’re my daughter. It’s not right for you to stay at someone else’s house."

"Did Mommy say she wants to marry you again? If she didn’t, then you’re not my daddy. I don’t want to go home with you. If you come here, I’ll run away."

Rowan took the phone. He could still hear Daniel trying to persuade Stephanie into going back.

Rowan quickly interrupted Daniel’s words, saying. "Mr. Wilson, you heard her. Steph doesn’t want to leave. Why not let her stay with me for a few days?"

"Never," Daniel knew Rowan had feelings for Chantelle.

I won’t leave my daughter with you!

Just then, Chantelle called him as he was arriving at Sunshine Villa.

"Steph’s with Rowan?"

"I’m on my way to get her. Don’t worry." Daniel was angry.

Rowan, how dare you talk behind my back to my wife?

"We can let her stay at Rowan’s house for a few days. I already talked to Rowan," Chantelle said. Stephanie had called her, asking to stay at Rowan’s place for a bit.

At first, Chantelle didn’t agree. But Stephanie threatened to call her godfather and ask him to take them all back to Carcosa.

Her godfather was a tough and hot-headed man. Chantelle didn’t want to drag him into this.

So, she agreed and called Rowan to thank him. She also asked him to take care of Stephanie.

She trusted Rowan deeply. And since Stephanie was clever and quick-witted, she wasn’t too worried about leaving her there.

But Daniel didn’t feel the same. He couldn’t stand Rowan. He’d rather die than let that man look after his daughter.

"I don’t agree. I won’t let my daughter stay at some stranger’s house."

"Daniel, you can’t change Steph’s mind now."

"I’m her dad. She has to do what I say."

"I don’t think you should push her," Chantelle said but she hesitated, thinking Daniel might get angry.

Making Princess Steph angry wouldn’t end well.

"Rowan’s a good man. I believe he’ll take good care of her."

"You’ve only known him for a few days, and you already trust him?" Daniel’s voice was full of frustration.

Chantelle didn’t want to keep arguing. She tried one last time to convince him, then ended the call.

Daniel arrived at Sunshine Villa.

Camille was excited when she heard he was there.

She smiled brightly and asked, "Daniel, did you come for me?"

"No. I’m here to pick up my daughter," he said without even glancing at her.

Camille quickly followed him. She had a bad feeling.

"Your daughter? Since when do you have a daughter?"

Could it be that little girl is Chantelle’s child again?

"Steph, I’m here to take you home," Daniel said, still ignoring Camille.

Rowan came out, holding Stephanie in his arms. They stood on the second-floor corridor. Daniel’s heart sank when he saw them.

He rushed upstairs and reached out to take Stephanie.

But she turned away and wrapped her arms tightly around Rowan. She didn’t want Daniel to touch her.

"Steph, come home with me. You can punish me however you want once we’re back, okay?"

"I don’t want to. I like it here. I like Uncle Rowan." Stephanie had grown to enjoy being around Rowan.

"Steph, I’m your daddy." Daniel’s heart was aching.

What do I do if my daughter likes the man I hate most?

"My godfather said if Mommy and I aren’t happy here, he’ll come and take us back." Her tone was serious.

This was the second time Daniel heard her mention her godfather. It crushed him. Just the thought of another man being with Chantelle all these years tore him up inside. But he didn’t show it to others.

"Chantelle sure knows how to find men wherever she goes," Camille said with a sneer.

Daniel gave her a cold stare. She bit her lip and looked down.

"Auntie, do you not have enough men? Is that why you’re saying bad things about my mom?" Stephanie snapped back.

Camille barely hold her temper and yelled. "Not enough men? That’s you, not me!"

"Camille Nelsen!" Daniel and Rowan shouted at her together.

"Don’t let me hear you insulting my daughter again!" Daniel glared at her with fury in his eyes.

Rowan also felt Camille had crossed the line. He said sternly, "Camille, apologize to Steph. She’s just five. How could you say that to a child?"

"She started it!" Camille rolled her eyes. She had been spoiled all her life, but ever since she came to Easthan, it felt like everyone was against her.

I’m not apologizing to this brat, she thought stubbornly.

"If you hadn’t insulted Chantelle, Steph wouldn’t have said anything to you," Rowan replied.

"Ro, you’ve only known this little girl for a few days. Why are you defending her? Could she be your and Chantelle’s secret child?" Camille blurted out her thoughts.

Everyone froze in shock.

Daniel’s anger flared again.
