Mr. CEO's Ex-Wife: A Cunning Comeback-Chapter 266: Kane And Steph Are Missing
Chapter 266: Chapter 266: Kane And Steph Are Missing
After Daniel left, a slim man with gold-rimmed glasses stepped out of the office holding a document.
"Ashton, the meeting’s about to begin. Why did Mr. Wilson leave?"
"Kane and Stephanie are missing. He’s out looking for them. Mr. Jude, please handle the meeting from here."
Jude frowned. He didn’t like what he heard.
He was talented and capable, but also very logical and stubborn. When he first graduated, he refused to work under Daniel. He wanted to build his own career.
Later, he finally agreed to join Daniel’s company. But even then, he acted strictly as an employee. Most people didn’t know they were related.
Jude always talked to Daniel formally at work.
Jude was a workaholic. All he cared about was work. So he couldn’t understand Daniel’s actions.
How could he leave the office just for his kids? That’s careless and irresponsible. I’m not happy about this at all, he thought.
"Mr. Jude, Sir was away from Kane and Stephanie for six years. Please try to understand. He trusted you enough to leave everything in your hands," Ashton said, trying to explain the situation.
Jude’s face darkened. He replied coldly, "If everyone in the company walked out for family matters like he did, we might as well shut it down."
Ashton didn’t argue. He sent a message to Daniel while getting ready for the meeting.
A few moments later, Daniel called Jude.
"Handle it for now. You’ll lead the meeting."
"That’s not allowed. I’m only the managing director," Jude replied. He always followed the rules and wouldn’t overstep.
"Actually... you’ve just been promoted. You’re now the executive president of Wilson Group Of Companies."
"The board should be the one to decide who becomes executive president."
"Jude, I own the company. I have full control. If I want to appoint you, I can. Stop clinging to rules all the time. People have feelings too."
Daniel glanced at his phone. Kane had sent a message saying he was preparing a big surprise for Mommy. He also saw footage of Rowan picking up Stephanie.
That helped him relax.
Otherwise, he wouldn’t have had the patience to talk this long with Jude.
"It’s pretty strange hearing that from the Demon King of Easthan," Jude said. He wasn’t like Ashton. He often expressed his thoughts directly.
Daniel knew how Jude was, so he didn’t get upset.
"I’m more human now than I’ve ever been. Jude, you should start a family. Don’t live like a machine."
"You don’t need to worry about me, Mr. Wilson." Jude ended the call.
He couldn’t help but wonder if marriage really changed people.
Daniel used to be calm and logical. That’s why Jude enjoyed working with him.
But now, he was cheerful and talkative. He let emotions affect his decisions. Jude didn’t want to become like that.
"Mr. Jude, the meeting documents are ready." The secretary placed the file in front of him.
Jude adjusted his gold-rimmed glasses and looked at her carefully for the first time.
His stare made her nervous. She started to wonder if she had done something wrong.
Then Jude suddenly asked, "Ms. Parker, are you married?"
"No," she replied, confused but keeping her composure.

"Why aren’t you married?" Jude asked again.
Shiela held back the urge to roll her eyes. He’s the one who told her not to get married or have kids for five years if she wanted to work for him.
She didn’t even dare to go on a single date. And now he’s asking why she’s still single?
"There’s too much nonsense in marriage. I don’t want to waste my time on it. That’s why I never considered it," she replied.
"Do you want to give me a raise? Because that sounded like a solid answer," she joked.
"Great minds think alike," Jude replied with a nod before walking off with the meeting file.
Shiela took a deep breath, forced a calm smile, and followed behind him without losing her cool.
At the Sunshine Villa, Stephanie and Camille stared at each other for ten long seconds.
Camille was just about to speak when Stephanie suddenly burst into tears.
"Waa... Uncle Rowan, I’m scared." She reached out her arms, asking for a hug.
Rowan quickly lifted Stephanie into his arms and gently patted her back to calm her down.
He shot a displeased look at Camille and said, "Camille, don’t scare her."
Camille was stunned. She couldn’t believe what she was hearing. Then she asked, "Ro, where did you find her?"
She already didn’t like the little girl. Just like she couldn’t stand Chantelle’s son.
"She’s my friend’s kid. She’ll be staying here for a while. Be nice to her." Rowan didn’t mention that Stephanie was Chantelle’s daughter. He was afraid Camille might treat her badly.
"Ro, do you even have friends in Easthan?" Camille asked, clearly doubting him.
Could this girl be his illegitimate daughter?
She remembered how Ro insisted on coming back to Easthan with her, even though they had barely met.
Now it made sense; he came back because of this child.
She felt like she had uncovered a huge secret. With this, she could easily control him.
Their grandfather was very old-fashioned. He had made it clear he would never accept any illegitimate child into the Nelsen family.
"It’s just someone I knew from before," Rowan replied. "I’ll hire a nanny to take care of her. All you have to do is get along with her."
"Ro, don’t worry. I’ll get along with your daughter," Camille said with a fake smile.
Rowan didn’t respond. He ignored her tone and carried Stephanie upstairs.
Once they were gone, Anthony turned to Camille. "Ms. Nelsen, it seems Mr. Nelsen is quite fond of that child."
"Of course he is. How could he not be?" Camille replied, eyes narrowing.
Anthony added, "She looks just like Madame Nelsen."
"Madame Nelsen?" Camille’s eyes widened in shock.
Isn’t she supposed to be my biological mother?
It was crazy. Ever since she came back, she had never seen a single photo of her parents.
She didn’t even know what they looked like.
"Yes," Anthony said. "I heard your parents were childhood sweethearts. I once saw their photo in Old Mr. Nelsen’s room. That child really looks like Madame Nelsen."
Camille was bewildered and her face turned pale.
"Impossible! She’s dead. That can’t be her child!" Camille shouted.
"Ms. Nelsen, even if she isn’t Madame Nelsen’s daughter, she still looks just like her," Anthony said seriously. "If Old Mr. Nelsen sees her, he’ll treasure her. Your place in the family could be at risk."
