Chapter 261: Chapter 261: I’d Rather Die

"Camille, that doesn’t change the fact that he’s married. You’re the Nelsen family’s daughter. Don’t be so stubborn. There’s someone better out there for you."

"I don’t care! I only want him! Ro, if you won’t help me, I’d rather die!"

She screamed and ran toward the window.

Luckily, the bodyguard pulled Camille back just in time.

"Fine... I’ll let you stay," Rowan said. "But if you ever try to hurt Chantelle again, no one will be able to protect you. Not even me. Not even Grandpa. He loves you, but not more than he loves the Nelsen Corporation."

His words hit hard. Camille’s face turned pale. She clenched her fists, trying to hide her anger.

Meanwhile, at the rose castle in Skeynia, Joseph sat on the couch looking miserable.

Half of his hair was burned, and his body was covered in burns too.

He held a burnt necklace tightly in his hand and his eyes were filled with hatred.

"Sir, Madam’s favorite garden is gone. Not a single flower is left," Fred reported and his injuries were even worse than Joseph’s. He looked upset.

"We were so close to killing Daniel tonight," Fred said. "But because you couldn’t bring yourself to hurt Chantelle, everything fell apart."

Joseph clenched his jaw. "Daniel Wilson... well done," he muttered, then kicked the coffee table in front of him.

The glass shattered across the floor.

"Our deal with the Nelsen Corporation is officially over. Chantelle ruined it."

"How does Chantie know the Nelsen family?" Joseph shouted and his voice was full of anger. Nothing went right for him today.

"Chantelle and Camille don’t get along. Mr. Nelsen took Camille to apologize to her at Phoenix International yesterday. The Nelsen family thought we were the ones who started the fire."

"They believed we nearly harmed both of them, so they cut ties with us."

"What does that have to do with Chantie?"

"She had someone look into our finances. That gave the Nelsen family a reason to end all cooperation with us."

"It’s your failure that you left traces behind. Don’t blame her for that."

Joseph slowly calmed down.

Fred waited a while before speaking. "Sir, your father will hear about what happened today. I’m afraid you won’t be able to hide that you didn’t kill Daniel because of Chantelle."

Joseph narrowed his eyes. "Are you threatening me? Huh? Planning to tell my father?"

He tapped his fingers on the armrest and stared at Fred with a cold, deadly look.

Fred dropped to his knees. "Sir, I’m loyal to you. I would never betray you. I’m just worried."

"The last person who tried to judge me was fed to the sharks," Joseph threatened him.

Fred trembled as his body drenched in sweat after hearing Joseph’s words.

He stayed kneeling and was scared to get up without Joseph’s permission.

Twenty minutes passed in silence before Joseph finally spoke again.

"Now that the Nelsen family is involved, it’s time to activate our pawn inside their circle."

"Yes, Sir," Fred replied and felt relieved.

"And about Lone Wolf, he’s no longer under our control. We don’t need to show any mercy to him or his brother. They’re not with us anymore." Joseph said while his eyes glinting angrily.

"He’s got powerful people protecting him. It won’t be easy to take him down."

"He’s made enemies all over the world. No one will know it was us," Joseph growled. "If you can’t even handle this small matter, then get out of my sight!"

Frustrated, Joseph stormed upstairs and leaned against the bathroom door.

His mind replayed the moment Chantelle fell from the glass-plank road. His heart started to beat fast.

She even called Lone Wolf to save Daniel when things got dangerous.

Did she really think she could escape from me?

If he had been colder, he could’ve messed with her parachute. She’d be badly hurt or maybe even dead.

Chantie, is Daniel really that important to you?

The next morning, Chantelle woke up later than usual.

As soon as she opened her eyes, she saw Daniel’s handsome face right in front of hers.

That’s when she realized she was lying in his arms.

"You’re awake?" Daniel mumbled, eyes still closed. "Stay with me a little longer." He pulled her closer and held her tightly.

Chantelle blushed inwardly and her heart was pounding hard.

"Where are the kids?" she asked softly.

"Kane took them out to play," he replied.

"When did you come back?" Chantelle asked. She noticed his eyes were red. She felt the urge to reach out and touch his eyebrows.

"About an hour ago. Rowan hurt his foot, so he asked me to come to the hospital so he could explain his side. He said Camille’s actions don’t represent the Nelsen family."

Daniel had a headache, but he wasn’t sleepy anymore.

"Is he hurt badly?" Chantelle asked. She remembered seeing him get off the plane carrying Camille. He seemed fine then.

"You care about him that much?" Daniel’s expression darkened.

He hadn’t told her Rowan was badly injured while helping the old couple.

Would she be worried if I told her Rowan was badly injured?

Just thinking about Rowan’s charming face made Daniel feel jealous.

"He’s donating five million dollars to our charity. It’s normal for me to care," Chantelle said with a playful blink.

Camille caused me trouble, so I’ll use her brother. That’s only fair.

"Hmph, it’s ten million now. What, are you planning to visit him in person?" Daniel shot her a sharp look.

Chantelle smiled on purpose. "Ten million? Of course, I’ll have to visit him! He’s such a generous donor; I have to make sure he’s doing well."

"I’ve never seen you this happy when I gave you all my money," Daniel said as his hand slid around her waist.

Chantelle tried to move away, but then she realized he was turned on. She froze and held her breath.

"Hm?" Daniel leaned in and kissed her warm, red earlobe.

Chantelle’s mind went blank, and her face turned bright red.

"Who says I wasn’t happy? Of course, I’m happy when someone gives me money," she replied as she swallowed hard.

"How are you going to return the favor?" Daniel asked, leaning in again until the tip of his nose touched hers.

"What do you want?" Chantelle asked, thinking maybe she could give him some high-tech gear.

Don’t men like that stuff?

"What do you think?" Daniel smirked, then lightly bit her earlobe.

"Daniel, don’t..." Chantelle said, pressing her hand against his chest to push him away.

But Daniel didn’t stop. His jealousy toward Rowan was growing in his heart.

Right now, he just wanted to remind her that she was his wife.

He kissed her gently, starting from her earlobe and moving down to her chest.
