Chapter 701: Back From The Brink.

His golden core was also intact, so he hadn’t suffered irreparable damage. He also had enough consciousness to do something to stop the process of being converted into ashes by the fire burning him.

The first thing he did was to activate Overclock Mode again. This caused lightning to rush out of his core into his body.

The lightning washed over every inch of his remaining body. This removed the terrifying worms of fire clinging to his body. This immediately removed most of the pain he was feeling.

The lightning energy doused the fire and saved him from the fate of being turned into ashes. Then he activated the Wood Vessel Sigil technique and let the life force in the vessel sigil spread all over his body.

He had a wood-based body. This made it easy for the fire to burn him. But it also made it so that the life force worked well on him. The life force began healing him of his terrible injuries by regenerating his lost flesh.

The regenerated flesh was green like the fresh buds of plants. But they soon became violet after the energy from his core was infused into them.

Arthur lay there for a while as he recovered. His limbs were slowly restored, and his empty, blackened husk of a body became full and healthy again.

When he was done, he turned over to lie on the ground with his back. In his arms was a flickering white disc.

The formation breaker usually floats above his head like a little halo. But when he activated the Overclock Mode the first time, he held the formation breaker because he was too fast, and it couldn’t keep up with him on its own.

When the explosion happened, he had held the formation breaker in his arms and shielded it with his body. This made it completely intact. But his other artifacts weren’t so lucky.

The hammer and the storm of blades were always placed on both sides of his waist, while the violet bow was placed at his back. This positioning made the violet bow take the brunt of the explosion.

He doesn’t know where the violet bow is currently because it had been shattered when the explosion struck him. The hammer and storm of blades had been dropped somewhere on his way here because the material he used to anchor them to his clothes had been burned.

A quick sweep with his divine sense showed him the current state of the hammer and the storm of blades. The two of them were still functional, but their forms had been disfigured by the fire.

From a preliminary examination, he determined that the hammer was damaged by 10%. This was because it was mostly a block of metal.

As for the storm of blades, it wasn’t so lucky. More than half of its structure had been crushed and twisted.

Lastly, there is still his armor suit. As the main reason he is still alive, the armor suit had to sacrifice itself. It had become tattered garbage hanging loose on his body in blackened patches.

While he was scanning his environment, he saw the other survivor. This person was Thor.

Thor had replaced his flesh with metal and was wearing an armor suit, so he hadn’t been damaged as much as Arthur. Only the part that faced the explosion was twisted and scorched.

This scorched part is his back. It was what Arthur saw when he rose from the ground.

Thor hadn’t been damaged like him, but it was more difficult for him to heal his injuries. So even though Arthur had been near death earlier, he looked hale and hearty now, while Thor looked as if someone had roasted one of his body.

Thor was looking at the fight between the patriarchs and the five gem kings when Arthur walked up to him.

Thor glanced at him and said, "I didn’t think you would die, but you looked awfully close when I saw you earlier."

Arthur grimaced when he thought back to his previous state. He said, "It was painful. Painful enough to kill. If my mind wasn’t strong enough, the pain would have caused me to black out."

Thor chuckled and said, "If it is any consolation, it is that the people who caused you so much pain will not live for much longer."

Arthur used his mind to lift the hammer and the storm of blades and pull them over to himself as he said, "What will make me consoled is to kill the Sun King myself."

What he said made Thor laugh. Then Thor gritted his teeth in anger and said, "I want to tear that guy apart, too."

Arthur sighed and said, "Unfortunately, he is too strong. We are not his match at all. Especially if he can create another supernova like the last one."

Thor nodded in agreement and said, "He is indeed strong. It makes me admire and hate him."

Then he shook his head as he said, "It is such a shame that we’re enemies. If we could work together, I have so many projects that could use the help of a living star."

Arthur’s eyes lit up when he heard about using the sun king for projects. He said excitedly, "Right? I was thinking of using him as an energy source."

Thor laughed when he heard Arthur’s idea. He said, "That would be one hell of a power source."

Then he said, "I was thinking of using him as a forge. But now that you mentioned using him as a power source, I’ve gotten the idea to use him as the ammunition for the Spear of Light by siphoning the fire and heat from him."

The two of them chatted while the two patriarchs shattered the bodies of the five gem kings. Then they went to put out the fire in the mobile fortress and save those who were still alive deep within it.

The two patriarchs didn’t stop their vengeful actions after killing the five gem kings. They first performed a soul search on the heart core of the five gem kings and they were very rough while doing it.
