Chapter 700: Buried Beasts.

In fact, anyone wielding an element with the same power output as Lady Evergreen wouldn’t have been easy to trap like that.

Someone wielding even the element of water would be able to cut off the vines and plant roots with blades made of water. But the gem kings only had their hands, so it was easy to bind and drag them.

The gem kings were still resisting the thick vines and roots with all of their power. Their resistance caused the ground to quake for miles. Cracks spread from the place where they were buried into their surroundings.

Many vines and tree trunks snapped as they kicked and punched. They were like great giant beasts trapped underground. Even the ground didn’t want to keep them. So if Lady Evergreen dared to relax a little bit, the four of them would jump out and become free. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶

But Lady Evergreen didn’t give them the chance to escape. She was very focused and was quick to replenish the vines and tree trunks, so the four of them remained trapped no matter how hard they struggled.

With four of the gem kings incapacitated, Thunder Drake was able to focus all of his power on a single gem king. As someone who could take down two gem kings on his own, it goes without saying that a single gem king is doomed in a fight with him.

Thunder Drake fought as if he were angry. But he was really very.

The death of so many disciples of the sect and the destruction of a mobile fortress had put him in a very bad mood, so he held nothing back as he pummeled the first gem king.

The fight wasn’t a fair fight by any means. Not only was Thunder Drake’s body much stronger than his opponent’s, so the gem king couldn’t harm him, but the gem king also had to deal with the occasional vines pulling his arms and legs and generally interfering with his ability to resist.

So the fight was also a two-on-one. To top things off, Thunder Drake had the assistance of lightning on top of his physical power and could use it to damage the gem king or bind his arms and legs.

The poor gem king stood no chance whatsoever. He was shattered into pieces by Thunder Drake’s punch, little by little.

In less than 5 minutes, the first gem king was felled. Then Thunder Drake moved on to the next gem king.

Thunder Drake didn’t rest at all. Once he was done with the first gem king, Lady Evergreen freed a second gem king for him to fight.

Now that she only needed to trap three gem kings, not four, Lady Evergreen had more energy to spare. She used this extra energy to interfere in the fight between Thunder Drake and the gem king. So this fight was even more unfair than the first one.

While the two patriarchs were working on killing the gem kings, Arthur was struggling to cling to life. He was in a bad state because of the self-detonation of the sun king.

When the Sun King and the five hen kings breached the barrier shield of the mobile fortress, the two avatars of the patriarchs had stepped forward to fight, while the soldiers in the mobile fortress had chosen to run away.

Their decision to escape was a decision they made out of common sense. They were essentially bait used to lure in the enemy. But once the enemy was successfully lured, they had to run for their lives so that they wouldn’t be killed during the upcoming fight.

They didn’t know what was going to happen, but they didn’t want to stick around to find out. This was before the Sun King felt threatened and decided to explode.

So they had been escaping before the explosion happened. Even so, the explosion still killed the majority of the soldiers on the upper decks of the mobile fortress.

Arthur had been using the Overclock talent to escape. He used the lightning element to enhance the speed of his mind and body. So he was in his fastest state when he was escaping. He took running for his life seriously.

Even without the Overclock Mode, he was the fastest person in the division. So with the Overclock Mode, he had left everyone in the dust. Despite all of these, that explosion still nearly killed him.

He had practically become a bolt of lightning as he streaked away from the Sun King, the five gem kings, and the two patriarchs. But the ocean of expanding heat and fire created by the explosion still overtook him and carried him along with it.

The explosion flung him away. And because he used his body to shield the formation breaker, he landed face-first onto the ground with his body nearly burned down to his core.

By the time he landed on the ground far away from the burning mobile fortress, most of his body had become a piece of burning charcoal. So not only had his body been burned into black charcoal, but even the charcoal wasn’t spared and was being burned continuously.

The fire from the explosion burrowed deep into his body like worms and was consuming him from the inside out. The fire refused to go out even when it burned his flesh to a crispy charcoal. It was clear that it wouldn’t stop until he had been burned to ashes.

He wasn’t exposed to the explosion for up to five seconds. But by the time the force of the explosion died down, his two had been burned into blackened charcoal stumps, and there were cracks all over his body.

Most of his back that had made contact with the explosion was also gone. His torso was also quickly being turned to charcoal.

Fortunately, most of his head was intact. There were cracks on his head that made it look as if he was about to shatter, but he was still conscious enough to feel the immense pain of being burned alive.
