Chapter 508: 493, I have prepared a gift for you_1
“Jian Qing, I have prepared a gift for you, which I believe you’ll certainly appreciate.”
He reached into his pocket and produced a small remote control.
Jian Qing’s eyes narrowed, “What are you planning?”
“I have planted a bomb in this vicinity, laced with a virus reagent. I believe Jian Qing knows how terrifying the consequences will be if the virus reagent is spread on a large scale,” Iverson nonchalantly played with the remote control.
Jian Qing responded with a cold smile, “Out with it, what are your terms?”
“Straight to the point!” Iverson laughed, “It would be a bother to you both to come with us.”
“Jian Qing, don’t agree to his terms.” Zhan Mingyan pulled her sleeve anxiously.
If Iverson took Jian Qing to threaten Quan Jingwu, it wouldn’t bode well.
“Don’t worry.” Jian Qing gave her a reassuring glance, her confidence easing Zhan Mingyan’s nerves.
Jian Qing’s frosty gaze pierced Iverson. “I can agree to your terms, but how can I trust that you will keep your promise after allowing us to leave? If you detonate the bomb in secret, it would be a devastating loss for me.”
“Does Jian Qing even have a bargaining chip to negotiate with me now?” A hint of triumph flashed across Iverson’s eyes.
“Heh!” Jian Qing’s face was indifferent, she replied scornfully, “Do you think you’re the only one with bargaining chips?”
“What do you mean by that?” Iverson’s face showed a flicker of caution.
“We’ve decoded the chip inside Jikin. If I’m not mistaken, you should have other chips in your possession, am I right?” her cold voice asked.
“So what if we do?” said Iverson, his face revealing nothing, but his mind filled with tumultuous thoughts. At this moment, he wished he could kill Jikin.
Useless trash, he had exposed the secret of the chip.
“Iverson, give me your remote control. We’ll come with you. You vastly outnumber us and you’re armed. On balance, we’re at a major disadvantage. So, how about it?” Jian Qing put forward her terms.
With a mocking look, Iverson eyed her. Even if she was at a disadvantage now, he dared not underestimate her.
Who in the underworld didn’t know about the ruthless and cunning tactics of the newly appointed head of the Jian Family? One careless move, and one might easily fall into her trap.
She was smart, but he wasn’t a fool either.
“So, what do you think?” Jian Qing’s eyes shimmered subtly, she continued, “Since you have the guts to come here today, I’m assuming you know that most of our men have moved to the forest. If we continue to delay, and they return, you might miss your chance.”
Zhan Mingyan watched Jian Qing in confusion, not understanding her strategy. Weren’t they supposed to buy time and wait for Yimo and the others to return and provide backup?
With a guarded look, Iverson stared at Jian Qing. Eventually, he made his decision, “Alright, I agree.”
Having said that, he tossed the remote control her way.
Jian Qing caught the remote, flipping it with her fingers. Within a few seconds, she had dismantled it.
Iverson glanced at the small parts scattered on the ground, his gaze toward Jian Qing intensified.
This was the type of woman perfectly suited for a man like him.
“Let’s go,” said Jian Qing.
“Please, Jian Qing,” Iverson stepped aside.
Jian Qing, with a stoic expression, led Zhan Mingyan towards him.
“It’s alright, don’t be afraid.”
Zhan Mingyan nodded, gripping her arm.
It was evident that Iverson came well-prepared. They knew the town’s routes and took Jian Qing and Zhan Mingyan through backstreets, avoiding any disturbance.
Upon arriving at their destination, Jian Qing’s gaze deepened. These people sure knew how to hide.
No one could have guessed their base would be located in the center of the forest, hidden deep underground in a tunnel.
Inside the tunnel, small lights along the walls flickered. Footstep echoes rang throughout like a heartbeat.
“Jian Qing, your presence here is quite unfortunate,” Iverson opened the cell door and led them in without allowing any objections.
Jian Qing shot him a cold glance, leading Zhan Mingyan into the cell.
“Close the door,” Iverson commanded.
The man guarding the doorway slammed the cell door shut. Iverson’s gaze turned somber as it landed on Jian Qing before he turned and left.

“Guard them.”
“Yes, sir.”
“Jian Qing, what do we do now?” Zhan Mingyan looked around the gloomy cell, growing increasingly panicky.
Even though she had always lived in the military camp, she was just a military doctor. This was her first experience in such a predicament; it wouldn’t be true to say she wasn’t scared.
“Don’t worry, they likely won’t harm us anytime soon,” Jian Qing inspected the lock on the cell gate, a flicker of something crossing her eyes.
Haha, Iverson, capturing me will surely be your greatest nightmare.
“Jian Qing, that man seems to fear you. Have you met him before?” Zhan Mingyan needed to divert her attention; she was too nervous.
“No,” Jian Qing replied, “I just glanced at his file once and committed his annoying face to memory.”
“…”
“So why does he seem so afraid of you?”
Jian Qing’s eyebrows lifted, “He probably finds me intimidating.”
“You still manage to joke in a time like this,” Zhan Mingyan looked at her helplessly.
Was she aware that they were captives and held by none other than Iverson himself?
“Let’s wait and see. Xiaojing will come to rescue us,” Jian Qing reassured her, carefully studying their surroundings.
“This place is so secluded, can they really find us?” Zhan Mingyan voiced her concerns. She wasn’t sure if they would die of starvation before they were found.
“I might not know about others, but I trust Jingwu,” Jian Qing said with a faint smile, completely confident in him.
She believed in their shared understanding.
Zhan Mingyan looked at her. The woman’s extraordinary beauty was aglow, her cold eyes reflecting a warm light.
She could sort of understand now why the cold-hearted Jingwu was attracted to her. She had an irresistible charm, a gaze that was hard to look away from, even Zhan Mingyan found herself drawn towards her.
“Bian, where is Matt?” Iverson entered another secret chamber where Bian was injecting a person in a cell with the reagent.
“He hasn’t returned yet?” Bian set down the syringe, furrowing his eyebrows.
Usually, Matt would have returned earlier after rescuing Jikin.
“Could the mission have failed?”
Iverson’s eyes glinted maliciously. “That idiot Jikin actually exposed the chip. I suspect he even revealed our hideout at the church.”
“What, he exposed the chip?” Bian exclaimed in shock.
How could Jingwu and his men have known about the chip hidden inside his body?
