Jian Luo shook her head and closed her fingers, clenching the button in her hand.
“My sister asked me the same question once, but I’m clear, I like him. There was a time I was kidnapped, and the guy demanded Black Jack to bring all his property shares as a ransom for me. That day, he really did show up. For such an arrogant person, it was the first time he knelt down for someone. Bai Jue once told me that all the gentleness of Black Jack’s life was given to me. I thought he was just joking at first. Until that day I was kidnapped, the moment I took a bullet for him, I realized my feelings for him were not merely friendship or familial love, but I liked him.”
In fact, he was quite grateful to Braus. If it wasn’t for him, maybe he wouldn’t have realized his feelings for Black Jack so quickly.
Listening to him, Mo Xiao felt a complexity welling up in his heart.
He also wished for his son to be happy, but could two men really spend a lifetime together?
Jian Luo looked out the window and gently touched the scarf around her neck, and it seemed like she could still smell his familiar scent.
…
“Jian Qing, I’m going to distribute relief supplies, do you want to come with me?” Zhan Mingyan came out of the room and ran into Jian Qing.
“Alright.” Jian Qing responded.
When the two got downstairs, Quan Yimo and others were just about to go out too.
“Xiaojing, where are you guys heading to?”
Quan Jingwu kissed her forehead in front of everyone, “We’re going to check out the forest side, where are you going?”
Luckily everybody had gotten used to their public display of affection over these days, so no one was bothered by this scene.
“We’re going to distribute relief supplies with Mingyan,” she replied.
“Be careful.”
“Hmm.”
Zhan Mingyan was kicking at a small stone, seeming a little depressed.
“Something on your mind?”
Jian Qing brushed the stray hair away from her ear and softly asked.
“Jian Qing, I’m increasingly confused about myself.” Zhan Mingyan looked up and sighed softly.
“I like Quan Jingwu. When you first arrived, I saw his tenderness towards you and I felt heartbroken. But for some reason, these feelings seem to be fading now.”
Upon hearing this, Jian Qing raised her lips in a slight smile, “Rather than saying you like Xiaojing, it’s more like you admire and respect him.”
“What do you mean?” Zhan Mingyan stopped in her tracks and looked at her.
“Are you afraid of Xiaojing?” Jian Qing asked.
Zhan Mingyan nodded without hesitation, “In Beijing, who in our generation isn’t afraid of him? When he was in the troops, everyone was super afraid of him. We all called him Jingwu, the King Yama, behind his back. Even my grandfather was somewhat intimidated by him. He was our idol in the troops whom everyone admired and respected.”
“Jingwu, the King Yama?” Jian Qing couldn’t help laughing, “Indeed, quite vivid and imaginative.”
“Because he was in the troops, I strived to be someone who matches his level. So I rejected the other path my family had planned for me and instead joined the troops. I thought at least there I could be closer to him. But I did not expect that he would leave the troops.” Zhan Mingyan said with disappointment.
Jian Qing pursed her lips, “Mingyan, what do you think of being a military doctor? Do you like it?”
“Of course, my major was also medicine before. Being a military doctor is tough, but I really like it.” She replied affirmatively.
If it weren’t for her fondness, she would’ve given up being a military doctor when Quan Jingwu had left the troops.
“Have you considered that you may not be so much in love with Xiaojing, but rather you admire and fear him?” Jian Qing said.
Zhan Mingyan lowered her head, a hint of confusion flashed in her eyes.
Is that so?
So now when she sees the two of them together, she doesn’t feel as heartbroken as before.
“Let’s go.” Jian Qing said softly.
Zhan Mingyan responded with a ‘hmm’ and kept thinking about Jian Qing’s words as they walked.
When the two arrived at the place where the relief supplies were being distributed, the townspeople were already lined up there. The townspeople had been receiving relief supplies here lately, so the queue was in good order without any chaos.
“Miss Jian, Miss Zhan!”
The members of the Falcon Team greeted Jian Qing and Zhan Mingyan when they saw them.
“We’re here to help.” Zhan Mingyan rolled up her sleeves and said.
Jian Qing tied her hair into a ponytail and started to help carry things.
“Miss Jian, this stuff here is heavy. We can handle it. Why don’t you and Miss Zhan go to the back warehouse and help organize the supplies that just arrived?” The man tipped his hat and said.
“Jian Qing, let’s go to the warehouse.” Zhan Mingyan wiped the sweat off her forehead and said.
Jian Qing handed the bag of rice in her hand to the townspeople. She glanced subtly at the man speaking and then followed Zhan Mingyan to the warehouse.
The crude warehouse was filled with household items and food, all mixed together in chaotic heaps.
“Oh my gosh, sorting all this out is a big project.” Zhan Mingyan looked surprisedly at the mess inside the warehouse and exclaimed.
Jian Qing laughed lightly, picked up a few bags of food casually, and placed them on the temporary rack.
Seeing this, Zhan Mingyan also quickly started working.
Suddenly, the warehouse door closed.
“What’s going on?” Zhan Mingyan froze for a moment and reflexively looked at Jian Qing.
Jian Qing’s gaze turned icy, a chilly curve hanging on the corner of her lips.
“Is there any point in hiding now that you’re here?”
“Ha ha ha, you’re really as astute as they say, Jian. Truly unparalleled.” A creepy voice echoed in the warehouse, inducing chills.
Zhan Mingyan threw down what she was holding and got close to Jian Qing.
She looked around vigilantly, “Who is it, come out.”
The small back door of the warehouse creaked open. Jian Qing’s ears perked up, and she looked over without thinking, a gloom clouding her eyes.

Iverson!
The man leading the way had a burly figure wrapped in black clothes. The terrifying scar on his face gave off a ferocious aura. His brown eyes occasionally flashed an intimidating gaze, making one feel like they were being targeted by a poisonous snake.
There were also three or four men following him, but Bian and Matt were not among them.
“Miss Jian, long time no see!” Iverson looked at Jian Qing with a glint of depredation in his eyes.
Zhan Mingyan glanced at Jian Qing, a trace of confusion arising in her heart.
Miss Jian?
Does Jian Qing have another identity?
“Heh!” Jian Qing scanned Iverson and his men with her deep black and shimmering eyes, a derisive snort slipping from her lips.
“Iverson, you finally dare to show up.”
“As Miss Jian takes the trouble to come, naturally I should welcome her.” Iverson played with his black glove, his voice gruff.
“It seems like you came prepared.” Jian Qing’s glance was calm, her voice ice-cold.
“Such ingenious people like Miss Jian really are a rare find indeed,” Iverson lowered his voice, his gaze aggressively landed on her.
