Mommy Wolf: Raise A Cub, Claimed By His Beast Daddy-Chapter 251: Going Home (III)
It took three days for Kael to finally reach the Beast Kingdom. He could’ve gone faster, but Jojo and Sisi insisted on resting twice on their way, and thus they were delayed so much.
Kael had been thinking about Sisi’s promise to return to the faerie land. At first, he really thought that Sisi would immediately return to the faerie land after Jojo was cured.
But she didn’t.
In fact, she even went with them back to the Beast Kingdom.
He wondered if this was just a one-time thing, or if she truly just got the blessing from her grandmother to continue living with them.
Naturally, Kael was unwilling to part with Sisi. Especially now that he knew she was his fated mate, he wanted to spend an eternity with her.
Or at least, spend the rest of their lives together until Sisi’s eventual passing, and then Kael would follow immediately, since he had no intention of staying once Jojo became an adult.
But the problem was...
The Dusk and Dawn Star’s lives were connected, so it had to be Jojo who died first, or else Kael would’ve technically killed his own son.
Kael had been wanting to ask Sisi about the clarity of her situation. But he got no chance so far, because Jojo was practically glued to his mother. He even asked Sisi to accompany him for a bathroom break, even though the boy had already restored his sight and could go to the nearest river on his own.
Thus, he decided to ask about this later once they reached the Beast Kingdom.
Unfortunately, the moment they reached the Beast Kingdom, the situation was far from ideal.
As Kael drew near the kingdom, he saw the beastmen trying to get rid of so many human corpses.
The stench of human corpses was unbearable for beastmen, especially for Kael, who had an extra-sensitive nose. His brows creased even deeper when he saw a fissure in front of the gate, alongside at least a hundred human corpses wearing armor piled up inside.
The beastmen who saw him quickly kneeled in fear. The captain of the beastmen soldiers around them greeted him first, "G-Glory to the Beast King! I-I-I will tell Sir Grishaw about your early arrival, My King!"
The captain was about to get the hell away because he didn’t want to be the one facing the Beast King’s wrath directly after seeing so many human corpses around.
"No need. I’ll go to the palace and talk to them," Kael said before leaping to the fortress wall.
His crimson eyes glinted with murderous urge as he wanted to know what had just happened.
He wanted to know immediately at first, but then realized that Sisi and Jojo were still with him, and he didn’t want them to see such a disgusting sight.
Sisi had been covering her nose with one hand and covering Jojo’s eyes and mouth with the other. Once they were far enough from the mountain of corpses, she asked, "What... what just happened while we were gone, Kael?"
"I’m not sure," Kael replied. "But I know it’s not good. Because our kingdom is closed off and has never had any conflict with the human kingdom. So, whatever happened while we were gone must’ve been handled very poorly."
"Vestor is the one responsible for managing the kingdom while we were gone. I’d love to inquire with him."
Kael leaped from one roof to another until they landed in the garden inside the Queen’s courtyard.
The servants panicked when they saw their King, Queen, and Crown Prince, and the Queen’s courtyard became lively in just a matter of minutes, with all the servants led by Diane, the raccoon maid, kneeling in front of him.
Kael shifted back to his beastman form and picked up the cloak from Sisi’s hand.
He draped it on his shoulder while Sisi carefully snapped the button on his chest one by one. She also did the same for Jojo, who was still distressed over the dirt stains on his cloak.
"All of you need to take care of the Queen and Crown Prince. No need to cater to me now, I’ll go to the throne room."
"I will go with you, Kael," Sisi said decisively.
"Wuuuu... can I go too?" Jojo asked. He knew that he wasn’t allowed to go to the throne room, but he didn’t want to be left alone.
Sisi pinched the boy’s cheek. "You have Tutu by your side. Why don’t you eat lunch with her while your Daddy and I handle some kingdom matters, hmm?"
Jojo pouted but nodded in the end. He actually wanted to throw a tantrum because he didn’t want to be separated from Sisi, but all the maids were here, and he was too ashamed to do so.
Thus, he reluctantly walked to the main chamber, followed by Diane and plenty of maids, while Sisi and Kael went to the throne room to inquire about the situation.
The news about the Beast King and Mistress Sisi’s sudden arrival spread like wildfire inside the palace.
Everyone got busy trying to make sure their station would look spotless, without any problem that might get them scolded for it.
Once he entered the throne room with Sisi, all the high-ranked beastmen were already kneeling inside.
Kael walked to the throne, and Sisi thought that she could just stand next to it.
But Kael grabbed her waist and sat her on his thigh, making sure that everyone in the throne room knew that her position in the Beast Court was the same as his, so her words were equal to his.
Sisi tried to struggle at first, because this was very abrupt, but Kael whispered, "Stay put, sweetheart. You are half of me, and so you have the same power as I do as the ruler of this kingdom."
In the end, Sisi stayed put and waited for Grishaw to finally walk to the front and kneel while reporting everything.
"This subordinate has been incompetent, My King!" Grishaw admitted without hesitation.
