Modern Weapons Cheat in Fantasy World-Chapter 35: Finishing the Job
Marcus waited for five seconds before the goblins now fully exposed themselves in front of the three sentries.
They kept pushing forward, crowding the narrow exit. Some climbed over each other just to get closer to the opening. Weapons raised. Screeching. No sense of spacing.
Perfect.
Five seconds later, Marcus tapped the screen.
The sentries activated.
The barrels spun up first—a rising mechanical whine that lasted less than a second.
Then they opened fire.
The left and right M134s unleashed a stream of rounds that cut across the entrance in a tight crossfire. At the same time, Marcus pressed the trigger of the M2 Browning.
The impact was immediate.
The first row of goblins dropped before they even stepped out. Bodies snapped back from the force. Some were thrown against the rock walls, others collapsed where they stood.
More kept pushing from behind.
They ran straight into it.
Rounds tore through the choke point, hitting anything that moved. The narrow entrance worked against them. They had no room to spread, no way to dodge.
A constant roar of gunfire.
Shell casings fell from the JLTV turret, clinking against metal before dropping to the ground. The miniguns on both sides maintained a steady stream, their fire overlapping perfectly at the center.
Goblins tried to rush through.
None made it past the entrance.
Some attempted to retreat, but the ones behind kept pushing forward, forcing them back into the line of fire.
The ground at the mouth of the cave started to pile up.
Bodies stacking.
Blood spreads across the dirt and stone.
It was a massacre, and Marcus is enjoying every moment of it. This is what would happen when modern weaponry exists in a fantasy world. The fantasy creatures such as goblins would be obliterated easily by modern weapons built for war.
And in just a minute, 70 goblins were killed instantly. Marcus checked if there are still those who survived and he detected no movements.
That should settle the population inside the caves...
Wait, there’s more coming.
Could it be that there are more goblins in the cave? He remembered playing a specific game in his real world where there is a lore about goblins, that they reproduce in such a way that didn’t follow normal limits.
The mass at the entrance started to bulge outward.
Goblins began forcing their way through the pile, climbing over the dead, using them as footing.
One broke through.
Then another.
Then five.
Then ten.
This time, they didn’t hesitate.
They poured out.
Not in a clean rush like before, but in waves—some low, some jumping over the pile, others squeezing through gaps.
Marcus didn’t rush it.
He adjusted the turret alignment from inside the vehicle, centering the reticle on the opening.
The sentries picked them up first.
The moment the new wave crossed the threshold.
The M134s spun back up and opened fire.
The crossfire resumed instantly.
The front line of goblins dropped again, cut down before they could spread out.
But more kept coming.
Climbing over the dead faster now.
Some used the pile as cover, ducking low before pushing forward.
Marcus narrowed his eyes slightly.
"...They adapted."
Not much.
But enough to change the flow.
He brought the turret slightly lower and engaged.
The M2 roared again, the heavier rounds punching straight through the bodies stacked at the entrance.
The pile broke apart.
And with that, the goblins behind lost their cover.
The kill zone opened again.
Bodies dropped in quick succession.
The entrance became a funnel once more.
Once the second wave was cleared, Marcus waited if there would be a new wave approaching. He waited for five minutes, and then ten minutes, and then fifteen minutes. Nothing seemed to come out.
"That must be all of them...No."
That’s not all of them as he didn’t remember killing the shaman. It must be still inside the cave, and must be the one controlling the goblins.
"Seriously? I’m going inside there...?" he asked himself.
No, why would he risk his life inside when he could just take care of the shaman inside the comfort of the JLTV Oshkosh? He recalled there is a drone used where it has a bomb attached and then control it to a target and detonate on impact.
Marcus opened the system again.
The interface appeared in front of him.
He went straight to the drone section.
Scrolled past the recon units, and saw it.
[Loitering Munition Drone – 15,000 MC
Type: Explosive
Control: Remote
Payload: High-Explosive Charge
Detonation: Manual / Impact]
Marcus paused for a second.
"...That’ll do."
He selected it.
[Purchase confirmed! Item is now transferred to your inventory!]
The balance updated.
[Balance: 12,809,540 MC → 12,794,540 MC]
Marcus reached into his inventory and pulled it out.
The drone was slightly larger than the recon one.
Fixed wings.
Compact body.
A small warhead mounted at the front.
He set it down beside the JLTV.
Then grabbed the controller.
"Let’s finish this."
He powered it on.
The motor spun up with a sharper sound compared to the recon drone.
The feed appeared on the screen.
Marcus guided it forward.
The drone lifted and flew straight toward the cave entrance.
The drone entered the cave.
Dark again.
Then the feed shifted.
Night vision.
Marcus kept it low this time.
Closer to the ground.
Following the path the goblins used.
The bodies were still there.
Stacked near the entrance.
The drone passed over them.
Into the tunnel.
Then deeper.
The wider chamber came into view again.
But now, it is quieter.
Marcus slowed the drone, scanning the place.
And moments later, he saw a flicker of movement.
A figure stepped into view.
The shaman.
Still alive.
Holding the staff.
Looking toward the drone.
Marcus didn’t hesitate.
"...Found you."
He angled the drone slightly.
Locked the trajectory.
The drone accelerated.
Straight into the chamber.
The shaman reacted. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
Raised its arm.
A faint glow forming again.
Too late.
Marcus kept the drone steady.
Closing the distance.
Five meters.
Three.
One.
"Detonate."
The screen flashed white.
Then cut to static.
The sound followed a split second later.
A dull explosion echoed from inside the cave.
Dust burst out of the entrance.
Fragments scattered.
Then silence.
Marcus lowered the controller slightly.
"Done. This job is easy."
