Mercenary's War-Chapter 1982 - 1959: The Unspeakable Thing
The person in the white lab coat was pushed in front of Gao Yang, nodded at Gao Yang, and then the man dressed in black tactical gear, holding a submachine gun in his right hand, tall and strong with a face full of scars, didn’t look like a good person at all.
"The boss told me to send him to you. He’s a key figure, so look after him."
Gao Yang felt a lot like a movie villain, and after examining the man in the white coat for a moment, he nodded and asked, "Who is he? A doctor?"
The strong man shook his head, pushed the man in the white coat, who wore glasses and had a scruffy beard, looking to be about fifty years old, trembling all over, took off his glasses and was wiping them. The strong man gave him a shove, nearly sending the glasses flying.
The helicopter rotor was still spinning, creating quite a bit of noise. At this moment, a fourth person dressed in black combat gear came down, using a flatbed cart to push a blue plastic barrel out of the helicopter. The first two passengers who had alighted helped hold the barrel, then the three of them together pushed the cart towards Gao Yang.
The barrel was less than one meter tall, and its diameter was only about fifty or sixty centimeters, not very large, limiting what it could hold. Gao Yang couldn’t understand what he had been waiting for, what kind of thing Uriyangko had gone to such lengths to acquire. If it was a skunk bomb, then this barrel was indeed too little.
Retracting his gaze, Gao Yang looked at the white-coated man in front of him and extended his hand, saying, "Please introduce yourself."
The man in the white coat put on his glasses, tried to look around, but quickly forced himself to turn his head back and, lowering his head, said timidly, "My name is Grischenko, I’m a chemistry professor at Kharkiv University, and also the director of the National Kharkiv University Chemistry Laboratory. I don’t know, I don’t know, what to say in my introduction."
Gao Yang furrowed his brow, looked at the strong man, and shouted, "Your boss, why did he bring him here?"
The strong man spread his hands, shook his head, and said, "I don’t know either. Our boss instructed us to go to the National Kharkiv University to seize something, which is that barrel. Then he told us to deliver the barrel and him together to you. He said you would know what to do."
The blue barrel was delivered to Gao Yang’s front. Gao Yang looked at it; it was a very solid sealed barrel, with only a formula printed in white letters on it. So he immediately asked the professor, "Tell me, what’s inside this barrel?"
Grischenko glanced at the barrel, hesitated for a moment, then whispered, "This is a thing whose name cannot be said, a chemical product."
Gao Yang shrugged his shoulders and smiled, "Never heard of it, chemical weapon? What are its effects and uses?"
Grischenko opened his mouth, was dazed for a moment, and then nodded, "This stuff is non-toxic, its most notable feature is the stench, but it can absolutely be used as a weapon, because its stink is weapon-grade, beyond human endurance, incredibly powerful."
"Oh..."
Gao Yang nodded, nearby, several people looked at each other with faces suddenly enlightened. Ivan snapped his fingers and laughed, "F**k! I thought it was a lethal chemical weapon, just stench?"
Grischenko swallowed and nodded, "Yes, just stench, but the power is astonishing."
Ivan shook his head and frowned, "I’m familiar with all chemical weapons and quite familiar with chemical products that can be used as weapons. Why haven’t I heard of this nameless thing? Is it so powerful? A weapon of mass destruction?"
Gao Yang spread his hands, frowned, "Then let’s call this nameless thing the ’King of Stink Bombs.’ How powerful is it, the key is how to use it?"
Grischenko nervously said, "The ’King of Stink Bombs,’ its chemical formula is very simple, its manufacture is also simple; any country with a basic chemical industry can produce it. Precisely because of this, even the name of this thing is taboo because, though it’s not a weapon of mass destruction, it can cause even more serious consequences."
Ivan smiled, "You’ve got to be kidding me, just stench, right?"
Gao Yang said seriously, "Stench, powerful stench, how potent is this thing, professor, do you know the skunk bomb? Is it more potent than the skunk bomb?"
Grischenko couldn’t help but laugh out loud, "Skunk bomb? I know that one, let’s say, these things cannot be measured by universal stink concentration. If the stink value of a skunk bomb is one hundred, then this thing is one million, unable to be measured, unable to be measured!"
Including Gao Yang and several people around him, they simultaneously gasped.
Knowing how potent the skunk bomb is, Gao Yang couldn’t help but pinch his nose, and he shouted, "You’re exaggerating."
Grischenko exhaled, pointed at the blue barrel, and shouted, "In our experiment building, a third-year student inexplicably took some of this stuff for an experiment, and then something terrible happened. That student mishandled it, causing a small explosion; the explosion didn’t matter, but it led to this stuff being released explosively."
He shivered uncontrollably and continued, "The student escaped, and within a minute, everyone on the same floor was driven out by the stench. Then, within three minutes, the whole building evacuated, vomiting, convulsing, streaming tears. Then, half the campus caught the stench, someone thought it was a terror attack and called the police. Once the police and firefighters arrived and learned what had happened, the firefighters went in but immediately came back out. Then they went in wearing air tanks, but there was no solution whatsoever, so they left quickly."
Ivan looked at the blue barrel and shouted, "Is it really that powerful?"
Grischenko spread his hands, "Let me finish. The experiment building kept releasing the stench continuously, impossible to enter or get close to. Later, the school had people wearing fully sealed protective gear with air tanks go in to apply cement and paint, covering the leaked floor thickly. The results weren’t great, so the school re-sealed the entire building in cement and paint layers. The smell was mostly covered, but unfortunately, it was still impossible to work pleasantly inside. After half a year, the school had to completely seal off the building and abandon it. That’s the power of this thing."
Gao Yang pointed at the blue barrel and loudly said to the people around him, "That’s it, this is the truth!"
Grischenko timidly raised his hand, then said loudly, "Sir, I want to remind you, the ’King of Stink Bombs.’ During the major accident caused by its leak at our school, the amount used was roughly one hundred grams, and inside this barrel is all of Ukraine’s supply of this stuff, a total of ten kilograms! If you’re thinking of using it as a weapon, I advise you to be cautious because its power is truly immense."
