Chapter 34: Chapter 34: Inviting You into the Trap

"No way!" Ye Xiu refused decisively. "Listen to me. Without my command, no one is to act on their own."

The Ghost Doctor’s heart trembled. As one of the Thirteen Protecters under Huang Quan, he knew full well the consequences of defying Huang Quan’s orders. Moreover, he knew Ye Xiu’s goal was to toy with his enemies, making them suffer a fate worse than death in despair, fear, and helplessness. If it were merely about killing his enemies, he wouldn’t need anyone’s help. Huang Quan was the most professional assassin in the world.

"Then what should I do?" the Ghost Doctor asked.

"Like this..." Ye Xiu explained his plan. It wasn’t much of a plan, really; it just required a little cooperation from the Ghost Doctor.

"Alright, I’ll go tell Ming Yue right now." After hearing the plan, the Ghost Doctor left.

Ming Yue was waiting anxiously outside the door, desperate to know how serious Ye Xiu’s injuries were. Seeing the Ghost Doctor emerge, she asked impatiently, "Divine Doctor, what’s wrong with Brother Ye?"

"Sigh..." The Ghost Doctor put on an expression as if his own father had died, patting Ming Yue’s shoulder and shaking his head with another sigh.

In this plan, he only had one line—no, one word. He would have to showcase his acting skills through his expression and his eyes!

And it worked. His acting completely fooled Ming Yue.

From Ming Yue’s perspective, the Ghost Doctor’s expression, mannerisms, tone, and consoling pat all indicated that Ye Xiu’s injuries were extremely serious. Otherwise, with the Ghost Doctor’s medical skills, he would never have appeared so hopeless.

Once she realized this, Ming Yue joyfully ran downstairs to greet their visitors. Since Ye Xiu’s injuries were so severe, there was no longer any need for her to keep up the act.

"Sigh..." Gazing at Ming Yue’s departing figure, the Ghost Doctor lamented bitterly, Such a grand play, and I’m only cast as a walk-on role. I barely have any presence at all.

Ming Yue ran down to the entrance of the hospital building, anxiously awaiting the arrival of those who were coming to execute Ye Xiu.

"Miss Ming," Huang Xinming, who was mopping the floor nearby, sidled over and whispered, "When are you finally going to get rid of Ye Xiu? I’m about to die from exhaustion!"

Huang Xinming was responsible for cleaning the entire Shenghe Medical Academy and Hospital all by himself. He could only sleep for an hour a day and had to clean even during his meals, but he still couldn’t finish it all. He was about to collapse from exhaustion!

"Ye Xiu will die today for sure!" Ming Yue declared, her joy plain to see.

"Really?" Huang Xinming asked.

"Would I have any reason to lie to you?" Ming Yue retorted contemptuously.

This convinced Huang Xinming. He was so moved he nearly burst into tears. His days of suffering were finally coming to an end.

Less than fifteen minutes passed before Ming Yue and Huang Xinming saw four people approaching from a distance. Leading the group was a woman who, despite her age, still possessed a certain charm, and she walked with an arrogant air. The other three were men—one young and two middle-aged.

"Li Bingliang?" Ming Yue recognized the only young man among the four. "What are you doing here?" she asked in surprise.

Li Bingliang was the young master of Ruiding Pharmaceuticals and one of Ming Yue’s suitors. Of course, that wasn’t important. What mattered was that Ruiding Pharmaceuticals was one of the masterminds behind the false accusations against Ye Xiu, and it was they who had first proposed hiring hitmen to kill Ye Xiu’s mother and grandparents. Ming Yue was surprised because, among all the conspirators, Ruiding Pharmaceuticals was the third most powerful. They should be commanding the entire operation from behind the scenes. Why would they send their young master, Li Bingliang?

"Ming Yue, it’s been a while. You’re more beautiful than ever," Li Bingliang said with a faint smile. Pointing to the woman and the middle-aged men beside him, he introduced them, "This is Mrs. Zheng Yiwen, wife of Ye Zhong of the Ye Family from Yunluo City. These two are Yue Chengfeng and Luo Senyuan, renowned Eighth Grade Grandmasters from the Ancient Martial Circle. They’ve come to capture Ye Xiu."

After speaking, he leaned close to Ming Yue’s ear and whispered, "With Ye Xiu in the Ye Family’s hands, there’s no chance he’ll survive!"

Ming Yue was, of course, aware of the relationship between Ye Xiu and the Ye Family, as well as the grudge between Ye Xiu and Zheng Yiwen. She knew that falling into the Ye Family’s hands meant a terrible fate for him. But on this momentous day for eliminating Ye Xiu, what did Li Bingliang mean by suddenly bringing people from the Ye Family?

I can’t figure it out! But there’s no time to dwell on it now!

She quickly and humbly greeted Zheng Yiwen, "Mrs. Ye, hello. I am Ming Yue of the Ming Corporation."

"Hmph. How is Ye Xiu now?" Zheng Yiwen asked arrogantly.

"He’s lying in his room. The Ghost Doctor personally examined him earlier, and his expression was grim. It seems Ye Xiu is so seriously injured that even the Ghost Doctor isn’t confident he can be cured," Ming Yue said.

"Just as I expected. Lead the way!" Zheng Yiwen smiled. The side effects of a drug that can defeat an Eighth Grade Grandmaster in a single move must be immense.

"This way, please!" Ming Yue quickly led the way.

Zheng Yiwen, Yue Chengfeng, Luo Senyuan, and Li Bingliang followed closely behind her.

Huang Xinming hesitated for a moment before following them, feeling extremely agitated. In the past, even billionaires would have greeted him, but Zheng Yiwen hadn’t given him so much as a glance. The slight infuriated him, strengthening his resolve to kill Ye Xiu and make a comeback. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶

The group arrived at the door to Ye Xiu’s hospital room.

Huang Xinming said, "Mrs. Ye, before you take Ye Xiu away, can you let me beat him up first to vent my anger?"

"And you are?" Zheng Yiwen asked.

"I’m Huang Xinming," he replied.

Zheng Yiwen seemed to understand. She was aware of Huang Xinming and had heard he’d been tricked by Ye Xiu. She said, "Alright, go on in and give him a beating. Just remember, don’t hit his head or his hands."

"Yes, yes, thank you!"

Hearing Zheng Yiwen agree, Huang Xinming was ecstatic. He charged into the room with his mop, while Zheng Yiwen and the others stayed outside. They had no desire to witness the ugly sight of Huang Xinming taking his revenge.

"Ye Xiu!" Huang Xinming burst into the room. Seeing Ye Xiu lying on the bed looking half-dead, his expression twisted into a savage, crazed sneer. "What goes around comes around. I bet you never imagined you’d end up in my hands, did you?"

He walked to the bedside, snapped the mop handle in two with a kick, and swung the wooden stick at Ye Xiu’s legs. He couldn’t even be bothered with words anymore; he just wanted to beat Ye Xiu senseless.

However, the half-dead Ye Xiu suddenly vanished from the bed.

Huang Xinming froze. Where did he go?

SMACK!

Suddenly, a sharp pain erupted on the back of Huang Xinming’s head. He spun around to see Ye Xiu standing behind him, a faint smile on his face. He looked anything but half-dead.

"You... you..."

"That’s right. I was faking," Ye Xiu grinned before kicking Huang Xinming in the mouth. He then slammed him to the ground and began raining a flurry of savage blows down on his face.

Huang Xinming was speechless.

Outside the room, Zheng Yiwen and the others listened to the pig-like squeals of pain. They all began to laugh, thinking that Ye Xiu’s injuries must truly be severe if he couldn’t even handle a nobody like Huang Xinming.

A flicker of suspicion appeared in Ming Yue’s eyes. Those screams don’t sound like Ye Xiu’s.

"Alright, you two go in and stop Huang Xinming. Then bring Ye Xiu out," Zheng Yiwen said to Yue Chengfeng and Luo Senyuan after more than ten minutes.
