Chapter 33: Chapter 33 Huang Quan’s Book of Life and Death

"It’s a congenital heart condition. The fear and extreme emotional fluctuations from the car accident sent her into temporary shock. Don’t worry, she won’t die!" Ye Xiu announced with a comforting smile after examining Song’er’s condition.

"Yes, that’s right! My daughter has a congenital heart condition..." The middle-aged woman burst into tears of joy when Ye Xiu pinpointed her daughter’s illness.

The young man, the doctor, and the onlookers all breathed a collective sigh of relief. If Ye Xiu said she wouldn’t die, then Song’er really wouldn’t die. When it came to medical skills, they trusted him.

Ming Yue’s expression turned grim. She had originally hoped to use this car accident to smear Ye Xiu’s name. But it ended up helping him instead?

Ye Xiu, unaware of their thoughts, confirmed Song’er’s condition and placed his right hand on her chest over her heart.

"What are you doing?" Seeing that Ye Xiu wasn’t treating his sister but seemed to be taking advantage of her, the young man flew into a rage and lunged forward to kick him.

However, Ye Xiu remained motionless. The young man, on the other hand, was thrown back by an invisible force emanating from Ye Xiu, landing hard on the ground.

"You beast! Let go of my daughter!" The middle-aged woman lunged forward, clawing at Ye Xiu.

After a moment of confusion, the doctor and the onlookers became furious. This scumbag! We thought he really wanted to save Song’er. It turns out he was just using it as an excuse to molest her because she’s pretty.

Ming Yue was thrilled. She yelled, "Ye Xiu, are you insane? Is this really the time to be acting like a pervert?"

The onlookers pointed at Ye Xiu and hurled insults.

"Scumbag!"

"Beast!"

"Animal!"

"Ah..." Just as the crowd’s insults reached a fever pitch, the unconscious Song’er suddenly opened her eyes with a cry.

SLAP!

She struck Ye Xiu across the face.

"You pervert!"

Seeing that the girl had not only woken up but also had the strength to slap someone, the surrounding shouts came to an abrupt halt.

The middle-aged woman who had been clawing at Ye Xiu froze. An awkward expression spread across everyone’s faces. So... he was massaging her heart to save her, not to assault her. We all misunderstood him!

Ming Yue was mortified. She wished she could slap herself. Not only had her loud accusations failed to tarnish Ye Xiu’s reputation, but she had probably earned his disgust.

"Song’er, you’re awake! You really woke up! You scared your mother to death..." Realizing what had happened, the middle-aged woman hugged Song’er, laughing and crying.

Song’er looked around with a dazed expression. "Mom, what happened?"

"It’s nothing, it’s nothing..." The middle-aged woman wiped her tears, smiling foolishly as she let go of her daughter. "Song’er, quickly, thank your benefactor. If it weren’t for him, Mom would have lost you for good."

"Ah?" Song’er was incredibly embarrassed. So this pervert was actually a doctor. She said awkwardly, "Um, I’m sorry, I didn’t realize..."

"It’s fine," Ye Xiu said with a smile.

"Um, Divine Doctor Ye, I’m so sorry. I completely misunderstood you..." the middle-aged woman apologized, thoroughly ashamed.

"Divine Doctor Ye—oh no, Brother Ye, I was an idiot to kick you in my panic. Please, kick me a few times to vent your anger..." the young man said, overcome with shame and awkwardness.

"There’s no need to apologize. Your reactions were perfectly normal, given the situation," Ye Xiu said calmly, then turned and walked away.

Ming Yue hurriedly followed, feeling as though she had swallowed a fly.

Meanwhile, Song’er’s family and the onlookers watched Ye Xiu’s retreating figure with thoughtful expressions. He accomplished the deed and left without asking for fame or recognition. Is this really the same infamous Ye Xiu from all those years ago?

Someone remarked, "He disappears for ten years and then suddenly shows up again. Even after being cursed out by so many people and attacked by the patient’s family, he still insisted on saving her. He must be planning a comeback."

"A comeback won’t be that easy. The entire nation hasn’t forgotten his crimes."

"Even if he’s a changed man, it can’t erase the fact that he poisoned hundreds of people."

"A leopard can’t change its spots. Even if he manages a comeback, he’ll just go back to his old ways."

The onlookers chattered amongst themselves. Although they were embarrassed for having doubted and obstructed him, their deep-seated contempt for Ye Xiu remained. His past crimes were simply too numerous to count.

After Ye Xiu and Ming Yue got into the car, Ming Yue asked, "We caused that accident. Isn’t leaving like this a hit-and-run?"

"The accident had nothing to do with us. If I hadn’t wrenched the wheel, that truck would have hit your car first," Ye Xiu said weakly, feigning a half-dead state again.

Ming Yue froze. Recalling the truck’s trajectory, she broke out in a cold sweat. Ye Xiu saved my life? And I wrongly accused him of causing the accident, even gloating at the chance to smear his name. What a way to repay my savior!

She felt no gratitude toward him, however. Seeing Ye Xiu gasping for breath and looking half-dead, Ming Yue thought, So he really was just putting on a brave face during the rescue.

When the car arrived at Shenghe Medical College, the Ghost Doctor had already sent someone with a wheelchair to wait at the entrance.

Ming Yue dragged Ye Xiu out of the car, plopped him into the wheelchair, and pushed him inside Shenghe Medical College.

Shenghe Medical College wasn’t just a school; it also housed Shenghe Hospital. The students attended classes while simultaneously serving as doctors. Because its student body was composed of the medical elite, Shenghe Hospital had earned a reputation as the best hospital in the country, and perhaps even the world.

As they approached the hospital entrance, Ming Yue saw Huang Xinming sweeping the floors, and her heart skipped a beat. Huang Xinming had been a nationally renowned expert in cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, yet now he was a janitor. If Ye Xiu doesn’t die, my fate and the fate of the Ming Family might be even worse than his.

Upon arriving at the ward, Ming Yue had just helped Ye Xiu onto the hospital bed.

The Ghost Doctor rushed in, dropped to his knees beside the bed, and cried, "Master, what’s wrong? Please don’t scare me like this!"

What in the world? Dude, can’t you act a little more naturally? This over-the-top performance is going to give us away.

The Ghost Doctor, realizing his acting was off-key, stood up and said to Ming Yue, "Please step outside. I need to give my Master a thorough examination."

"Okay." Ming Yue nodded and left.

Only then did the Ghost Doctor ask in a low voice, "Master, what is this act all about?"

"Zheng Yiwen has come to Jin Ye City," Ye Xiu said, his voice cold. "The Ye Family is convinced I defeated Yue Chengfeng by using drugs, so they believe I’m now suffering from a severe backlash. If I don’t play along, what if Zheng Yiwen becomes too afraid to show her face?"

At the mention of Zheng Yiwen’s name, an astonishing killing intent erupted from the Ghost Doctor. He knew better than anyone that Ye Xiu’s entire life had been derailed because of her. If Zheng Yiwen hadn’t seduced Ye Zhong, Ye Xiu and his mother would never have been cast out of the Ye Family, and none of the subsequent tragedies would have occurred. Zheng Yiwen was the true source of all of Ye Xiu’s suffering.

The Ghost Doctor had seen Huang Quan’s Book of Life and Death. Zheng Yiwen’s name was on it, marked for death by Huang Quan.

"If she won’t come to you, you can go to her," the Ghost Doctor said, his voice laced with killing intent. "If you’re too busy, I can do it for you."
