Chapter 69: Chapter 69: Do You Want to Divorce Me? (Part 1)

Seraphina slowed down the car, taking a closer look.

On the second-floor balcony, the man who looked very much like Ethan Sterling had already walked into the room.

Parking the car by the side of the road, Seraphina turned her face, looking in the direction of the Thorne Villa with some confusion.

Buzz—

Her phone suddenly rang, and seeing Tristan Quincy’s name on the screen, Seraphina quickly answered the call.

"Commander Quincy, you were looking for me?"

On the other end, Commander Quincy’s tone was gentle.

"Seraphina, when you get back to the group, come to the office and see me."

"Okay."

Seraphina agreed and hung up the phone.

She glanced twice in the direction of her villa and gently shook her head.

She had only called Ethan Sterling that morning. If he had bought her house, he would have told her. She must have been mistaken.

Seeing that it was getting late, Seraphina restarted the car and drove out of Sovereign Villa District.

Upon returning to the orchestra, she went straight to Tristan Quincy’s office.

"Come, come!" Seeing her, Tristan Quincy smiled and waved her over, "Seraphina, have a seat!"

He had her sit on the sofa and personally poured her a cup of hot tea.

"How are you adjusting to the orchestra lately?"

"Pretty well." Seraphina smiled, taking the cup, "Thanks for your concern, Commander."

"That’s good." Tristan Quincy settled into a sofa across from her, "The reason I called you over is to discuss something. Felicity Shaw has left, and now the violin group needs a leader. Do you think... you could take over her role?"

"This..." Seraphina was a bit surprised, "Isn’t it a bit inappropriate?"

In terms of seniority, she was just a newcomer.

Becoming a group leader in such a short time, Seraphina couldn’t help but worry about the group gossip.

Tristan Quincy observed her expression, "Do you have any concerns?"

Seraphina pursed her lips and spoke honestly, "I’m worried the others in the group might have opinions."

Tristan Quincy laughed, "Do you think I want you to take this position because of... Mr. Sterling’s influence?"

Her silence confirmed his guess.

Tristan Quincy chuckled.

"Seraphina, when I first recruited you into the group, did I have you come in through the backdoor?"

Seraphina shook her head.

"Then... during your time in the orchestra, have I given you any special treatment?"

Seraphina shook her head again.

"From the first time we met at the banquet, I knew about your relationship with Mr. Sterling," Tristan Quincy spread his hands, "So... why would you think I’d suddenly become someone who curries favor?"

"This..." Seraphina quickly stood, "Commander Quincy, that’s not what I meant."

"This decision was not mine alone, but the result of discussions among several leaders in the group. We chose you as this group leader because among the newcomers, you are the most outstanding one."

Tristan Quincy nodded understandingly.

"I can imagine your concerns. But Seraphina, you need to understand, our group is currently cooperating with Mr. Sterling on the concert hall project. Given your current status, whether you take this position or not, there will be rumors."

He handed her the contract prepared on the table, speaking earnestly.

"From the first time I saw you, I knew you were a strong and hardworking girl. You can choose to avoid because of their doubts, or prove with your competence that you deserve this seat... The choice is in your hands."

Holding that thin supplementary contract, Seraphina looked at the kind elder in front of her.

Tristan Quincy was right, no matter what decision she made.

Because of her status as Ethan Sterling’s wife, there were bound to be doubters in the group.

She couldn’t live her whole life under others’ scrutiny.

As Ethan Sterling said, avoidance doesn’t solve problems.

"Commander Quincy..." She straightened her back slowly, "I won’t let the group leaders and you down, I will do my utmost to lead the violin group well."

"That’s the spirit!" Tristan Quincy smiled, patting her shoulder, "Seraphina, keep up the good work, I believe in your ability."

"Thank you!" Seraphina smiled as well, "Then... I’ll go handle the paperwork in the personnel office."

"Go ahead!" Tristan Quincy waved his hand lightly, watching her walk to the door, then called her back, "In the coming days, our group will recruit another violinist, if you have suitable classmates or friends, feel free to recommend them for the interview."

Seraphina agreed and left the Commander’s office.

She went to the HR office and signed the additional agreement.

She quickly packed her things and moved into the office that originally belonged to Felicity Shaw, the violin group leader.

The news quickly spread throughout the group, with most of the musicians congratulating her.

"Seraphina, congratulations!"

The violinist Claire Clayton, who had helped her before, also smiled and offered congratulations.

Of course, there were inevitably some sarcastic remarks.

"We’ve been here two or three years and can’t compare to someone who’s been here one month."

"Yes, indeed, working well is not as good as marrying well!"

"Just been here for a few days and already got Felicity Shaw out, better not mess with her!"

...

Claire Clayton couldn’t stand it and wanted to defend Seraphina, but Seraphina held her back.

"I don’t care what you all think."

Standing in front of everyone, Seraphina looked around her.

"However... starting today, I hope everyone can cooperate with me at work. Otherwise, if I could edge out Felicity Shaw, you... won’t be an exception! You can all leave early today, but make sure to come for rehearsal on time tomorrow morning."

The once noisy space suddenly quieted.

Claire Clayton stood beside, discreetly giving her a thumbs-up.

Seraphina glanced at everyone, feeling secretly amused.

Buzz—

A vibration came from her pocket.

Seeing Ethan Sterling’s name on the screen, Seraphina quickly stepped out into the hallway to answer.

"Turn around."

The man’s voice came from behind her.

Seraphina turned her face and noticed he was standing not far in the corridor.

"What are you doing here?" Holding her phone, Seraphina walked towards him, eyes full of unexpected joy.

"My wife missed me, so of course I came over as soon as I finished up," Ethan Sterling winked at her, "Team Leader Thorne, what you said just now was great."

Knowing he heard her reprimanding the others, Seraphina gave a self-mocking smile.

"Being a bad woman occasionally doesn’t feel too bad."

"That’s not bad!" Ethan Sterling placed his hands on her shoulders, "It’s just the jungle law of the workplace. Now that my wife has been promoted, should we go celebrate?"

"Let’s not talk about that now!" Seraphina grabbed his arm, "Come to my office, I have something important to discuss with you."

Bringing Ethan Sterling to her office, Seraphina immediately took out the document she got from Adrian Chamberlain and handed it to him.

She explained the visit to the prison and her encounter with Adrian Chamberlain.

Ethan Sterling looked at the document in his hand, then raised his eyes to hers.

"So... Adrian Chamberlain means that if you leave me and be with him, he’ll give you this document?"

Seraphina nodded.

"Then..." Ethan Sterling stood up, placing both hands on the desk, looking into her eyes, "Are you going to divorce me?"
