Marrying His Nemesis: Kicking My Scumbag Fiancé Away!-Chapter 124: The Troubles of Married People (Part 2)
Seeing the divorce agreement in his hand, Sean Hale jumped in surprise and quickly tried to stop Seraphina Thorne.
"Ma’am, you’ve really misunderstood President Sterling. He has never done anything to betray you, I can vouch for it with my character."
Ivy Langley sneered, "You’re in cahoots with him, of course you’d speak on his behalf!"
"Don’t make trouble!" Sean Hale pushed Ivy Langley aside and stood seriously in front of Seraphina Thorne, "I’m serious, you must trust President Sterling, he has done everything for you and Zenith, he truly never intended to harm you."
"Then please tell him, if he truly cares about me, he should sign the agreement and give me my freedom." Seraphina Thorne stepped into the elevator, "Ivy, let’s go."
Giving Sean Hale a glare, Ivy Langley forcefully pressed the close door button.
...
...
In the following days, Ethan Sterling did not appear.
Since Chloe Foster was absent, Seraphina Thorne had to fill in for her, spending several days busy with the New Year concert activities.
Coincidentally, the weekend was New Year’s Day, after giving her students tutoring in the morning, Seraphina Thorne had a quick lunch and immediately rushed to the rehabilitation center to visit her father.
She arrived at the ward but did not see her father.
After inquiring with the nurse, she learned that her father was training in the training room.
Following the nurse’s directions, she arrived at the training room of the rehabilitation center.
Through the glass wall, she immediately saw her father sitting at the table, trying to scoop cooked beans from a bowl with a spoon.
"Very good, don’t rush, yes... very good... take it slow!"
Ferris Caldwell, in a white coat, stood in front of him, speaking gently and encouragingly.
"Keep your hand steady!"
Under Ferris Caldwell’s guidance, Theodore Thorne painstakingly scooped up a bean and brought it to his mouth.
Standing outside the window, Seraphina Thorne watched her father’s actions and showed a delighted smile.
From initial coma to now being able to eat independently, Theodore Thorne’s progress was noticeable.
Ferris Caldwell, with his back to the glass wall, hadn’t noticed Seraphina Thorne.
Seeing Theodore Thorne finish a bean, he encouraged again.
"Very good, let’s try it again!"
Theodore Thorne had already spotted Seraphina Thorne, raised his left hand, and waved at her through the glass window with a radiant smile on his face.
Following his gaze, Ferris Caldwell turned his face and saw Seraphina Thorne, immediately smiling and gesturing for her to come in.
As Seraphina Thorne walked in, Ferris Caldwell immediately explained the situation.
"Mr. Thorne’s recovery is going well, he can now basically eat independently."
"I saw it just now." Seraphina Thorne supported her father’s shoulder, "Dad is the best."
"My daughter, little... Sera... the... the best!" Theodore Thorne smiled, raised his left hand, and gave a thumbs-up.
"I know, your daughter is a world champion, of course, she’s the best." Ferris Caldwell looked at the weather outside, "We’ve practiced enough today, it’s pretty nice outside, you can push him out to enjoy the sun."
"Okay."
Seraphina Thorne smiled in response, took the blanket, helped Theodore Thorne cover his legs, and pushed him out of the training room.
Theodore Thorne raised his right hand and pointed to the open space on the garden side, "Tonight, there will... be fireworks!"
"There’s going to be fireworks, so I’ll stay tonight and celebrate New Year’s Eve with you." Seraphina Thorne smiled.
Worried about Theodore Thorne catching a cold since it’s winter, Seraphina Thorne only pushed him around the garden for a short circle before returning to the ward.
Father and daughter played chess in the room for a while, then the nurse came in and pushed Theodore Thorne off for electrotherapy.
Seraphina Thorne checked the training room but didn’t see Ferris Caldwell, so she turned and went to the inquiry desk.
"Excuse me, which office is Dr. Caldwell in?"
"You mean Dean Caldwell, right? His office is upstairs, 602."
Dean Caldwell?
Seraphina Thorne looked surprised, "Isn’t he working part-time here?"
"It’s sort of part-time." The nurse explained with a smile, "This rehabilitation center is just a subsidiary of the group, Dean Caldwell usually works at the main hospital and occasionally comes here to check."
"Oh, I see, thank you." Seraphina Thorne thanked them and went upstairs to room 602.
Sure enough, she saw the metal nameplate with the words "Dean’s Office" written on it.
Raising her right hand, she gently knocked on the door.
"Come in."
Inside, Ferris Caldwell’s voice came as expected.
Seraphina Thorne pushed the door open and entered, only to find him sitting in front of a desk, making a video call on the computer.
Seeing Seraphina Thorne, Ferris Caldwell raised his right hand, signaling her to stay silent.
"Mom... I have work here, I’ll hang up first."
Through the computer speakers came the voice of a middle-aged woman.
"I don’t care, I’ve already made arrangements with people. If you dare not to come, I’ll break off my relationship with you."
"Alright, alright!" Ferris Caldwell raised his right hand, "I promise, I’ll definitely come, okay?"
"That’s more like it."
Disconnecting the video, Ferris Caldwell sighed softly and leaned back on the chair.
"I really can’t handle my mom, always trying to set me up with girlfriends." He gestured for Seraphina Thorne to sit down, got up to pour her a cup of hot tea, "I really envy you married folks, I don’t have to be pressured to marry every day like I am."
Seraphina Thorne curled her lips, "Marriage has its own troubles."
"That’s true." Ferris Caldwell sat on a small sofa, "Speaking of which, if I hadn’t seen your husband that day, I wouldn’t have believed you got married so young."
Not wanting to elaborate, Seraphina Thorne smiled and changed the subject.
"My dad mentioned there’s a New Year celebration tonight, I want to stay longer to spend time with him; can I leave a bit later?"
"Technically, it’s not allowed, but... it’s a holiday right?" Ferris Caldwell blinked, "I’ll give you a green light."
"Thank you."
Ferris Caldwell laughed, "You’re someone who really likes to say thank you."
Hearing this, Seraphina Thorne inadvertently thought of Ethan Sterling.
He hated her saying "thank you" and "sorry" the most.
"By the way." Ferris Caldwell remembered something, "If you want to invite your husband to come along, it’s okay."
"No need, he’s on a business trip."
Just as Seraphina Thorne finished speaking, her phone vibrated in her bag.
The screen prominently displayed Ethan Sterling’s call.
Seeing Ethan Sterling’s call on the screen, she stood up and walked out of Ferris Caldwell’s office.
"Sorry, I need to take a call."
Exiting Ferris Caldwell’s office, Seraphina Thorne answered the call and brought it to her ear. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
"Seraphina, where are you?"
"If you want to discuss the divorce, have your lawyer talk to Ivy."
"No, I have something very important to discuss with you, where are you? I’m coming to find you."
"There’s nothing left for us to discuss!"
Seraphina Thorne lowered her right hand and hung up the call.
Turning her face, she saw Ferris Caldwell standing not far in the hallway.
"I didn’t mean to eavesdrop on your call." Ferris Caldwell explained with a smile, "The restaurant called, dinner is ready."
"It’s nothing," Seraphina Thorne smiled self-deprecatingly, "The troubles of married life."
"It’s really true, as they say, people outside want to come in, and people inside want to get out." Ferris Caldwell shrugged, "Come on, let’s not talk about these things during the holidays, let’s eat dumplings and watch fireworks."
Seraphina Thorne pushed Theodore Thorne upstairs to the restaurant, where they ate dumplings with other patients, medical staff, and watched fireworks.
Returning Theodore Thorne to the ward, she carefully helped him with the blanket.
The door to the ward was pushed open, Seraphina Thorne thought Ferris Caldwell had come.
Turning her face, she saw Ethan Sterling standing at the door.
Taking a breath, Ethan Sterling spoke with a deep tone.
"Tonight, I must discuss something with you!"
