Kai flexed his hand and immediately felt the change.

His skin was tougher and felt denser. He tapped his forearm a few times, listening to the dull thud instead of the usual soft sound. Even at Level 0, the Gene Skill was still awakened!

"I guess it’s working," he muttered.

After feeling satisfied, he decided not to use his Skill points yet. He decided to check the system’s new feature...the World Chat.

As expected, the interface was empty. There was only one message displayed, the broadcast announcement.

The same message was then repeated two more times.

Kai stared at it for a moment. He couldn’t help but smile seeing this.

Curious about how this works, he tried typing a message.

The words appeared instantly in the chat window.

Of course, there was no reply. He was the only Level 20 Survivor in existence. But it didn’t matter... he had tested the feature, and it worked.

He finally lay on his bed to rest.

He may not be able to use the same trick to level up faster again, but he had already achieved his goal...

He was truly ahead of the other Survivors this time!

Kai exhaled slowly, as he imagined the future...

The World Chat was empty now, but it wouldn’t stay that way forever. Once others reached Level 20, the silence would break, and the channel would grow lively with voices from across the world.

He couldn’t help but feel a little excited about that. After, he’d be able to connect to other people, and perhaps, he could even find someone he knew!

In any case, after relaxing for some time, Kai finally turned his attention to another reward he had just obtained.

It was the Superior Gene Skill Awakening Token.

He checked it in his inventory. The item appeared as a coin, and it had intricate markings. Curious, Kai took it out.

Immediately, a notification appeared.

Kai frowned slightly.

They weren’t tailored to him at all, they were completely terrible.

The Stone Skin was bad since he had just learned the Bronze Skin. It was the same for Strong Instinct since he already had Keen Sense.

Still, he liked how it went.

"So that’s how it works... Superior Token doesn’t adapt to me. It just gives a pool of choices."

Nonetheless, Kai didn’t think too much and made a swift decision.

Without a doubt, he selected the Specter Step!

After all, he already had Spirit Pulse, so he felt that the Spark Burst was too much.

He stood up from his bed, stretching his arms before focusing. With a thought, he activated the skill.

For a split second, his vision blurred. His body moved so fast, and he felt himself shift sideways.

Soon, he reappeared a few meters away with a faint Spirit energy trailing behind.

’That’s 20 SP already...’

The sensation was strange... He felt like his body had skipped a beat in reality. Still, it was an awesome feeling!

Kai couldn’t help but feel excited as he realized how good it was!

"That... was fast."

He tried again after the 15 seconds had passed, this time aiming toward the door. His body distorted, and in an instant, he was standing right in front of it

Furthermore, he saw the afterimage linger for a heartbeat before fading!

The drain on his Spirit Points was noticeable, but not overwhelming.
