Marrying His Nemesis: Kicking My Scumbag Fiancé Away!-Chapter 106: The Crestwood Hotel, 603, I’ll Wait for You
Seeing the bracelet on Chloe Foster’s wrist, identical to her own, Seraphina Thorne spaced out for a few seconds before quickly coming back to her senses.
"Is there anyone else?"
Each brand’s jewelry has an unknown number of identical pieces, and Seraphina hadn’t thought much about it.
The other musicians looked at each other and shook their heads.
Being able to substitute for Seraphina, to participate as the second violinist in the New Year’s concert.
It’s undoubtedly a very rare opportunity for these young musicians.
However, the New Year’s concert has a vast repertoire, and not everyone has the ability to seize this chance.
"Currently, only Chloe and Claire Clayton meet the requirements," Seraphina looked up from the form in her hand, "Why don’t you two discuss your strengths?"
Chloe looked sideways at Claire. "I just joined the orchestra and am not familiar with things yet. Let Claire handle this New Year’s concert."
Giving up such a rare opportunity, Claire was naturally a bit embarrassed.
"No, no, we’re all musicians in the group, so let’s compete fairly."
"I’m serious," Chloe smiled, holding Claire’s arm. "I have other plans for the New Year’s concert. Otherwise, I’d be competing with you hard for it."
Both Claire and Chloe are excellent violinists, and Seraphina initially struggled to choose.
Hearing Chloe say she has other plans made her secretly breathe a sigh of relief.
"Since it’s like that, let Claire take my place and handle this year’s New Year’s concert."
"Thank you, Chloe, for giving me such a rare opportunity." Claire smiled gratefully at Chloe. "Don’t worry, Seraphina, I’ll give it my all and won’t let you or the orchestra down."
"Alright, I believe in your ability," Seraphina stood with her materials in hand. "Then it’s settled, I’ll go notify the conductor now."
"Wait a minute, I’ll go with you," Chloe followed her with her bag. "Just right, I need to go up to the HR department."
The two went upstairs together, and Chloe affectionately linked arms with Seraphina.
"I feel my bracelet is a bit loose, Seraphina, can you help me adjust it?"
Seraphina agreed, unclasped her bracelet, and helped her adjust its tightness.
"Is this okay?"
"It’s great." Chloe shook her arm. "Seraphina, are you mad?"
"Mad?" Seraphina smiled. "Whether to participate in the concert is your personal freedom. Why should I be mad?"
"It’s not about that..." Chloe reached out her fingers, fiddling with the bracelet. "I mean, about Ethan Sterling and me."
"You and Ethan?" Seraphina stopped walking. "What do you mean?"
"Well..." Chloe looked surprised. "Didn’t Ethan tell you this bracelet is a gift from him?"
Seraphina felt a bit surprised, initially thinking the bracelet was specially bought for her, not expecting he gave Chloe the same one.
She felt a bit awkward inside but didn’t show it on her face.
"Ethan and Nathan are best friends. You are Nathan’s sister, so you are also like a sister to Ethan and me. It’s just a bracelet from a brother to a sister. I, as your sister-in-law, am not that petty."
Chloe laughed. "As long as you don’t mind."
While talking, they came to the second floor, and Seraphina pointed to the right.
"The HR department’s office is over there."
"Oh..." Chloe looked at the office next to her. "I’ll go over now, see you later."
Chloe waved at Seraphina and turned towards the HR department office.
Holding the materials, Seraphina went to the conductor’s office and explained the New Year’s concert arrangements carefully.
"Claire is a very talented musician. I believe she will be able to perform well at the concert."
Conductor Tristan Quincy smiled and nodded. "Claire is diligent and hardworking, indeed a good choice. Alright, it’s decided then. When you have time, guide her a bit." 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞
"No problem," Seraphina agreed with a smile.
After taking leave of Tristan Quincy, she headed downstairs and returned to her office, pushing the door open.
She immediately saw Ethan Sterling sitting behind the desk, flipping through her music sheets.
"What brings you here?"
"The company wasn’t busy today, so I came to pick you up after work," Ethan glanced at the time. "Are you ready to leave?"
"Give me a moment," Seraphina said, collecting the handwritten music sheets on the desk and packing them into her backpack. "Let’s go!"
As they walked out of the office together, Chloe just happened to be leaving the orchestra as well.
Seeing Ethan, she quickly pulled her sweater down to cover the bracelet on her left wrist.
"Ethan, you came at the right time. My brother can’t pick me up tonight. Can I hitch a ride with you?"
Ethan’s tone was indifferent, "Seraphina and I are going out for dinner. It’s not on the way."
"Besides, I’d be eating alone no matter when I get back, which is such a bore. Why don’t I treat you two to dinner? I heard there’s a French restaurant nearby with great dishes, and I remember you love roasted snails, Ethan!" Chloe smiled as she clung to Ethan’s arm. "Seraphina, you don’t mind, do you?"
Seraphina’s eyes swept over Chloe’s hand on Ethan’s arm, "I think maybe another day. I’m not a fan of French food."
Chloe still had an innocent and naive expression, as if she hadn’t caught on to the underlying meaning. "No worries, we can have Chinese food instead."
Ethan frowned, pulling his arm away from Chloe’s hand. "I’ve booked a couple’s dinner, and we can’t add a seat. If you like French food, I can ask Sean Hale to join you."
Chloe lifted her eyes, giving him an indignant look, but soon smiled again.
"Alright, I understand. I won’t trouble you then. Enjoy your meal."
Watching them get in the car, Chloe waved at them from the roadside.
Her lips curled up, but her smile didn’t reach her eyes.
Ethan didn’t look at her and turned the car into the drive.
Glancing at the rearview mirror reflection of Chloe, Seraphina withdrew her gaze.
"Have you found out about my brother’s situation?"
Ethan frowned, shaking his head lightly.
"Still not entirely certain yet. Be patient for a few more days, and I’ll get to the bottom of it."
As for the letter, after much consideration, Ethan decided not to tell Seraphina yet.
Right now, it’s still unclear who sent the letter.
Deep down, Ethan couldn’t quite believe that Nathan Foster would do something so despicable.
If he were to tell Seraphina recklessly, he feared she might misunderstand.
The two of them went to the restaurant Ethan had booked, and while waiting for the food to arrive, Ethan’s phone suddenly rang.
The screen showed a WeChat message from Nathan Foster.
"The Crestwood Hotel, 603, I’m waiting for you."
"Your dishes are ready," the server came over and placed the ordered dishes on the table.
Justin Sterling locked his phone screen and slid it into his pocket.
"Honey, I need to step out for a bit after dinner. Can you drive yourself home?"
"Will you have time after dinner? If you won’t, you can go now. I don’t mind."
"No matter how important it is, I have to finish dinner with my wife first." Ethan pushed the sweet-and-sour fish towards her. "Come on, eat up while it’s hot."
Not wanting to delay him, Seraphina quickly finished her dinner.
When they left the restaurant, Seraphina deliberately handed him the car keys.
"It’ll be more convenient if you have the car."
"You’re the best," Ethan said, escorting her to the curb, and flagging down a taxi to put her in. "Call me when you get home!"
Waving to Seraphina, he drove her car towards The Crestwood Hotel.
He reached room 603 and knocked on the door.
After a moment, the door was pulled open from the inside.
Standing there was not Nathan Foster, but Chloe Foster.
