Marrying His Nemesis: Kicking My Scumbag Fiancé Away!-Chapter 105: Identical Bracelet
Ethan Sterling slowly squeezed out three words through his teeth.
"Nathan Foster!"
Nathan Foster was the lawyer Chloe hired because he was going to investigate the situation with Zenith and help Caleb Thorne with the lawsuit. Ethan Sterling had given him all the relevant information.
"Mr. Foster, this..." Sean Hale was stunned, "It couldn’t be him, right?"
"Whether it is him or not, ask and you’ll know."
Ethan Sterling gripped the letter, opened the car door, and sat in the driver’s seat.
The champagne-colored Cullinan made a neat U-turn and drove toward the city.
Sean Hale hurried to his car and also drove to follow behind Ethan Sterling’s car.
But given his speed, how could he catch up to Ethan Sterling? He was soon left behind.
Racing back to the Sovereign Villa District.
When Ethan Sterling parked his car in front of the Foster Villa, Nathan Foster was just returning with Chloe Foster after changing the bandage on his hand.
Seeing Ethan Sterling, Chloe Foster smiled and approached.
"Ethan!"
Ethan Sterling ignored her, his eyes fixed intently on Nathan Foster.
"Get in the car!"
"Ethan, you’re..."
Nathan Foster grabbed Chloe’s arm and handed her the keys.
"You go inside first, I need to talk to Ethan Sterling for a bit."
Chloe Foster took the keys and walked into the villa.
Nathan Foster walked over, opened the car door, and sat in the passenger seat, "I just called, Seraphina didn’t answer, is she okay?"
Ethan Sterling let out a light snort, "Her brother who was originally going to appeal, suddenly gave up the appeal. Do you think she’s okay?"
Nathan Foster also frowned, "I’ll go to the prison tomorrow to have a good talk with Caleb Thorne and see if there’s any room for recovery."
"No need." Ethan Sterling coldly interrupted him, "From this moment on, you are no longer Caleb Thorne’s lawyer!"
"I know it was wrong of me to interfere in your and Seraphina’s private matters before, but you can’t just act impulsively. I understand this case the best and am the most likely to help Caleb."
"Really?" Ethan Sterling scoffed coldly, "Wasn’t it you who made him give up the appeal?"
"I’ll say it again." Nathan Foster spoke with weight, "I did not tell Caleb Thorne about you and Seraphina’s marriage."
Ethan Sterling grabbed the letter from his pocket and slapped it on him.
"Then how do you explain this?"
Nathan Foster opened the envelope in confusion, and upon seeing the copy of the marriage certificate of Ethan Sterling and Seraphina Thorne inside, he was also shocked into silence.
"This..."
"The only ones who could have gotten their hands on this copy are either my people or your people." Ethan Sterling turned his face, his eyes fixed steadily on Nathan Foster’s face, "I can guarantee my people will never betray me, how about you... Attorney Foster!"
Nathan Foster, holding the copy, pondered for a moment.
"I’ll investigate thoroughly and give you an explanation."
Ethan Sterling took a deep breath, raised his right hand, and extended three fingers.
"I haven’t told Seraphina about this yet. I’ll give you three days. I hope you can provide me with a reasonable explanation within three days."
Nathan Foster had a regretful expression.
As a lawyer, he had the duty to protect the client’s privacy.
Moreover, this matter concerns Caleb Thorne’s innocence.
No matter who did this, the information got out from his place, and that was his failure.
"I’m sorry, Ethan, I really didn’t imagine..."
Ethan Sterling coldly interrupted him.
"Get out of the car!"
"Okay, within three days, I’ll get to the bottom of it."
Nathan Foster pushed open the car door and slipped the envelope into his pocket as he got out.
Ethan Sterling entrusted all the information to him because he trusted him, and he had let him down.
Nathan Foster knew very well that if he couldn’t provide a reasonable explanation for this matter to Ethan Sterling.
The friendship they’ve had over the years could end here.
Not only would he lose Ethan Sterling as a friend, but he would also lose the trust of Seraphina and Caleb Thorne, the siblings.
Watching Ethan Sterling leave, Nathan Foster stuffed the envelope into his pocket and walked into the Foster Villa.
He went to his study on the second floor, pulled out the drawer, and took out Caleb Thorne’s related documents to browse through.
No one had seen his documents and files except for his assistant.
This assistant had been with him for a few years, was always dependable and trustworthy, and would never do such a thing.
Who could it be...
The door was gently knocked, and Chloe Foster came in holding a cup of hot coffee and placed it on his desk.
"Brother, did you and Ethan get into a fight over me again?"
"How could it be?" Nathan Foster smiled back at her, "It has nothing to do with you, don’t overthink it."
Noticing the silver bracelet on her wrist, Nathan Foster was taken aback.
"Is this bracelet new? I’ve never seen it before."
"Oh..." Chloe Foster retracted her hand, "I’ve had it for a while, just never wore it much."
Nathan Foster didn’t pay much attention, "Go... rest early, aren’t you going to the orchestra tomorrow?"
Chloe Foster nodded and walked toward the door.
Nathan Foster thought of something, raised his face, "Chloe?"
"Hmm?" Chloe Foster turned her face at the door, "What is it, brother?"
"You..." Nathan Foster feigned a casual tone, "You didn’t tamper with your brother’s documents, did you?"
A flicker of panic flashed in Chloe Foster’s eyes, but she quickly masked it.
"No, why ask?"
"Nothing, there’s just a document I can’t find. Maybe I left it in the law office. Go to sleep, I’ll keep searching."
Chloe Foster helped him close the door and left, and Nathan Foster leaned back on the chair, rubbing his face with his hand.
It was truly odd, who could have tampered with his documents?
...
...
As New Year’s approached, the orchestra was clearly busier with performances.
As the head of the violin section, Seraphina Thorne also became increasingly busy.
In addition to being responsible for the rehearsal and performance of the violin section, she also had to make time to prepare for the Paganini Violin Competition finals.
The date of Seraphina’s overseas competition just happened to coincide with the orchestra’s New Year’s concert,
Because Seraphina had to go abroad for the competition, her position needed to be filled by other musicians.
After discussing with the conductor, Seraphina specially gathered a few young violinists from the orchestra.
Previously on leave due to a hand injury, Chloe Foster was also among them.
"The main reason for asking everyone to come today is to arrange the New Year’s concert performance. Since I am going abroad for the competition, a musician needs to replace me."
Seraphina handed out the prepared program list to everyone.
"This is the entire program for the New Year’s concert. Anyone familiar with all the pieces can raise a hand to sign up."
Claire Clayton was the first to raise her right hand, "Seraphina, count me in."
Seraphina nodded, "Anyone else?"
The musicians exchanged looks but all shook their heads.
"Then... count me in too!"
Chloe Foster smiled, raising her left hand.
Today she wore a light oatmeal-colored sweater with batwing sleeves. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
Due to the raising hand motion, the sleeve slipped up, revealing a slender section of her arm and on it, a silver bracelet embedded with blue gemstones.
Taking note of the bracelet on her wrist, Seraphina’s hand holding the pen slightly froze.
Chloe Foster’s bracelet was identical to the anklet Ethan Sterling had given Seraphina.
