Married To The Last Ice Dragon-Chapter 70: Release and duck
Hearing that, Sage gasped and covered her mouth with her hands.
"Oh my goodness! I am so sorry!"
"Why are you apologizing? You are not the cause of her current situation," Cyrus spoke bluntly.
Sage looked at him and scowled. "I am apologizing because I feel bad." She then moved her gaze to Aurora, smiling.
"You feeling bad won’t solve anything so, it is better you feel nothing." Cyrus walked past her and towards his mother, speaking sternly.
Sage stood there, enraged. She then sighed, puzzled as to why Cyrus had suddenly become rude. She stood motionless, staring at the mother and son with no intention of approaching them. She wanted that they have their moment.
Aurora stood at the very edge of the cliff, and Cyrus stood in front of her, his hands in his pockets. He had a glum expression on his face and didn’t seem to want to speak to her.
"Have you been eating well?" Aurora asked worriedly and outstretched her arm towards his cheek.
"Yes," Cyrus lips twitched as he replied.
"That is good." Aurora sighed with relief at the same time dropping her arm.
"You seem worried than usual, what is the matter." Cyrus asked titling his head to the side.
"When last did you switch to your dark state my son?"
Cyrus narrowed his eyes suspiciously. "Two days ago, why?"
"You will find out yourself but you have to restrain Snowflake for the meantime." Aurora replied and Cyrus frowned.
"Keeping me in suspense won’t give me a reason to restrain him."
"Yes, but he is one of the strongest guardian beast and I am sure you know that over centuries, his power had killed a lot of heirs because they couldn’t control the power he gave them." Aurora ended her words with a deep sigh. "The dark state.. no one knows why he connected his soul to yours but it is..."
"I can control him mother, I am still Cyrus in my dark state." Cyrus interrupted and turned away.
"Of course," Aurora said with a smile.
Cyrus stared at Sage who stared back at him. She looked nervous and slightly uncomfortable.
"I apologize, I brought you here to see her but instead I am shunning you."
Aurora froze in shock. "Did Cyrus Dragos just apologize to someone?!" She exclaimed.
Sage laughed at her reaction and walked towards them.
Cyrus held her hand and turned to face his mother. "Why are you acting surprised?" He asked his mother, frowning.
"Because you have never apologized to anyone, not sincerely." Aurora replied and scoffed.
Sage laughed at Cyrus who rolled his eyes.
"I shall take that as an insult." Cyrus hissed.
"Hmph. Childish." Aurora teased.
Sage smiled, enjoying the company of the mother and son. Their relationship was strange, but she felt love and care even though Cyrus wasn’t good at expressing it.
"If he hurts you, you can just scream out my name or bite him." Aurora advised Sage, giggling.
"What?!" Cyrus exclaimed in shock.
"In order not to disturb you, I shall bite him. My teeth are almost like fangs." Sage said confidently.
"Fangs?" Cyrus scoffed in disbelief.
"You are such a beauty just like.."
"You should leave now, you will drain yourself if you stay for too long." Cyrus suddenly interrupted.
"O..oh." Aurora nodded then cupped Sage’s face smiling at her.
Her palms felt like cold just like Cyrus’ and felt normal than she expected.
Sage stared deep into those light filled eyes that were capable of blinding her. "Is there a way I can help you?" Sage inquired, her voice sad.
Cyrus’ eyebrows shot up at her question.
"Take care him, stay with him even when he tries to push you away. I know I sound selfish my dear, but please do not leave his side." Aurora spoke with so much grief that made Sage heart feel heavy.
Aurora let go of Sage and took a step back. She moved her gaze to the proud demon panthers, then to the nine-tailed fox, who had a bored expression but held something sinister in his silver reptile-like eyes.
"Mother!" Cyrus raised his voice that tingled with fear.
Aurora nodded. "Very well," She immediately glowed brightly.
Cyrus pulled Sage close to him and made sure she buried her face in his chest.
Aurora glowed brighter and brighter. Cyrus and his guardians did not blink as they stared at her, and Cyrus’ expression became softer and softer.
Immediately Aurora vanished, Cyrus outstretched his arm towards the direction she was standing. "Mother!" He called out in fear, his eyes exposed pain.
Sage hugged him tightly while he clenched his hand into a fist and returned the hug closing his eyes shut.
"Calm down," She whispered.
Cyrus’ eyes immediately flew opened, turned into their sliver reptile form.
"Release and duck." He suddenly said with a low growl.
Sage immediately broke the hug and squatted.
A blast suddenly fired from the forest towards them. Cyrus dodged the blast, raised Sage, and hugged her tightly, closing his eyes shut, while his demon panthers let out furious snarls and ran into the forest.
Sage was shocked and confused. "What just happ..ened?" Her voice shook.
"It is our last night here." Cyrus revealed and opened his eyes.
"W..why? I thought we are supposed to spend one week?" She questioned totally perplexed.
Cyrus broke the hug and smacked his lips against hers, kissing her until she gasped for air. Sage’s vision blurred as a result of the aggressive kiss, and just as she was regaining her clear vision, Cyrus flicked her forehead and darkness swallowed her.
Cyrus carried Sage in his arms and glared at his bored looking nine tailed fox. "You did not say Hello to my mother." He grumbled.
The nine tailed fox titled his head to the side and snarled at Cyrus.
"Pathetic!" Cyrus snapped at the fox, turned to face the cliff, walked to the very edge, and returned to look at the nine-tailed fox.
"Join them, or you won’t have any dinner tonight."
Snowflake narrowed his eyes at Cyrus who smirked and turned his head away. "Go now!" Cyrus yelled and jumped off the mountain cliff with Sage in his arms.
