Married To The Last Ice Dragon-Chapter 69: Flattering
Her heart skipped a beat, causing her to wince and place her hand on her chest, where she could feel her heart beat.
The light sparkled in different colours until only ice blue and white remained visible. The woman’s face was lovely; she smiled, and strands of hair relaxed on her brow.
When Snowflake, who was in Sage’s arms, focused his gaze on the light, his eyes morphed into a reptile-like form, as did Cyrus’. Their eyes held the same pain, a deep unbearable pain and regret.
Sage looked at Cyrus, who had his hands clenched. "W..what happened to her?" She had to ask.
"I didn’t bring you to find out what happened to her, but to see her." Cyrus spoke in a harsh tone, then sighed and turned his gaze to Sage, who appeared curious and concerned.
His gaze softened slightly, but his eyes remained silver.
"Cyrus.." Her voice was hushed, and she rested her hand on his cheek.
Cyrus closed his eyes to feel the warmth of her hand. "Do not be concerned." He sighed and opened his eyes.
Snowflake jumped off Sage’s arms and walked to the edge of the cliff without blinking for even a second. The light reflected in his eyes, and Sage could see the exact same light reflecting in Cyrus’s eyes as if he were staring at the light.
"Your... your eyes!" She exclaimed quietly.
Cyrus smirked, grabbed her wrist, and drew her close to him, wrapping his arms around her waist. "I brought you here to see my mother, and you are not even going to say hello?" He inquired, his gaze fixed on her widened emerald eyes.
"W..what?" Sage stuttered, caught off guard by Cyrus’ sudden action of drawing her close to him.
Cyrus returned his gaze to the sky, and Sage moved slowly in the same direction. She screamed when she noticed the woman’s smile had widened.
"Did the light shift?" She yelled and pointed to it. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
Cyrus shook his head and rolled his eyes. "I can not believe she is teasing." He muttered.
Sage fixed her gaze on the woman’s features. She was stunning and appeared to be... alive?
Suddenly, the woman blinked.
Sage screamed and hugged Cyrus tightly. "She blinked Cyrus! She blinked!" She screamed loudly.
Cyrus smiled and wrapped his arms around her as she trembled. He frowned and narrowed his gaze to the light, where he saw his mother smiling and blinking like a living being.
"Come mother," He groaned lazily, and Sage, who was in his embrace, gasped in surprise.
"What?" She was taken aback.
Cyrus slowly unwrapped his arm around her, expecting her to break the embrace as well, but she hugged him tightly instead.
"T...tell me what’s going on!" She stuttered in terror.
"If you let go, you will understand." Cyrus soothed her by gently caressing the back of her head.
"Stop frightening her and come out, mother!" Cyrus expressed his displeasure.
"Oops!" A female voice chuckled.
Sage slowly released Cyrus’ grip and turned her wide eyes to the light.
Sage smiled as the light began to move and mix, creating different bright colours. The light suddenly spread out, creating tiny sparkles of various colours that synchronised with the stars in the sky.
Sage took a step forward, hands on her chest. It was the most beautiful thing she had ever seen in her life.
One of the lights flew towards her, and she slowly extended her arm, placing the light above her palm.
"Amazing!" She exclaimed with delight, smiling brightly.
Cyrus’ eyes widened slightly as he watched the scene. Sage’s flowing silky red hair, her white skin that gleamed under the colourful lights, the stars in her emerald eyes, and the bright smile on her pink lips brightened his dark cold world.
He had always preferred seeing her with a frown on her face, but her smile was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen.
"Sage..." He called out, exhaling.
That tone... the way he called her name... made her feel different. Sage’s eyes widened as she turned to face Cyrus. Their hair was blown to the side by the wind, which made the cold environment feel liberating and comfortable. Once again unreadable, deep emotions could be seen when one looked directly into those silver reptile eyes that suddenly changed to ice blue. She could tell that he was making an effort to suppress his feelings. .
For the first time in his life, Cyrus didn’t know what to say to Sage. He was totally speechless and his mind totally went blank.
Though he made an effort, he was unable to speak. Though his brain was unable to simply process any words, he didn’t feel like his throat was congested.
He groaned in frustration as he raked his fingers harshly through his hair. "Why am I experiencing this?" Sage, who was waiting for him to speak and had anticipation clearly visible on her face, was startled when he growled and turned away.
"Are you alright?" She asked worriedly and took a step towards him.
"He is." A female voice laughed behind her.
Sage’s eyes widened in surprise as she stiffly turned to look in the direction of the light and saw a woman. Her only colours were ice blue and white, making her completely bright. She had an ethereal, translucent appearance.
"I am relieved that my son has someone who worries as much as I do about him." Aurora laughed.
"Even her voice is beautiful!" Sage spoke aloud as she continued to stare at the woman.
"Flattering." Aurora laughed.
Sage grinned broadly. "It is great to meet you!" She shouted enthusiastically before squinting her eyes. "But what happened to you? Everyone believes you are dead.
"Wow! Very curious!" Aurora exclaimed with a clumsy chuckle.
With a grimace on his face, Cyrus turned to face them. "You can not show yourself anymore starting today." He spoke to his mother firmly.
Aurora let out a long sigh.
"What? Why?!" Sage queried in surprise.
"Because she is half dead, her soul and spirit are totally shattered."
