Chapter 68: Aurora

"There are a lot of old books." Sage said walking behind Cyrus, trailing her fingers on the books.

"Older than you think. Majority of them contain information about the ice dragons’ history." Sage rushed to Cyrus’s side, hugging his arm.

"I do not think I can read as much as you." She said this while blinking at him.

"You can try but you can never arrive at my level." Cyrus smiled and patted her on the head.

She let go of his arm and shook his hand away from her head. "I need your nanny’s books right now." She expressed her displeasure.

"Her name was Megan." He sighed and stood in front of a shelf, raising his hand and removing three large books before turning to face Sage, who looked surprised.

"Hands out." Cyrus gave the order, and she hesitantly extended her hands.

"Here are your books." He said this, placed the books in her hands, and walked away.

Sage groaned as she gripped the heavy books. "Help!" She screamed.

Cyrus smirked, walking away without turning back at her.

"Cyrus!" She shouted in frustration.

.

Sage grunted placing the books on the table beside the fire place. She and Cyrus had returned to the room, and Cyrus was lying on the bed with his eyes closed.

He had been quiet ever since they walked out of the library, and her arms were aching from carrying the heavy books all by herself.

Looking away from the books, she walked towards the bed and stood in front of it staring at Cyrus who looked like he had fallen asleep. She caressed her chin wondering if he had really fallen asleep.

"Cyrus?" She called and climbed the bed crawling towards him. "Cyrus..." She called again as she got closer and leaned her face close to his. "Are you asleep?" She probed his cheek.

He didn’t move, his chest rose and fell slowly, and she smiled mischievously.

"So unpredictable. I wonder if you admire me as much as I admire you. How can someone be this beautiful?" She pushed the strands of his hair that were relaxed on his face. She traced her fingers from his brow to his gleaming red inviting lips. "What terrible thing did you do to want my fire core so badly?" She asked, her fingers caressing his lips.

Sage blew air into her mouth and moved her gaze to his shirt’s ropes that her fingers were itching to untie.

She held the rope, untied it swiftly, and caressed her fingers on his milky hard chest. "You know everything there is to know about me. You even know her... Lianna and that she is a mage.. my aunt is a mage." She spoke hesitantly, chewing her lower lip.

"Do you want me to touch you like you touched me, Cyrus Dragos?" She asked in a deep seductive whisper and kissed his chest.

In their silver reptile form, Cyrus’ eyes flew open. His breath was shaky, and his gaze was fixed on the woman with the intoxicating emerald eyes.

"Don’t your hands hurt?" Cyrus asked quietly.

Sage smiled, a naughty smile that caused his brain to malfunction for a moment.

He swallowed hard and wrapped his arms around her and made her lay on him properly positioning her.

Sage gasped as she felt something hard poke her abdomen.

"Not today," Cyrus said quietly, smiling.

"W..what?" Sage felt hurt.

"Do not worry, parrot; I just want to show you something or maybe someone." Cyrus unexpectedly stated.

Sage smiled as he spoke in a calm tone. She got off him and tied the shirt’s rope back.

Cyrus was glad that his shirt was large and long enough to cover the bulge. His parrot was about to force him to come out of his shell.

They both got out of bed, put on coats, and stared at each other.

Cyrus could see apprehension and curiosity in those gleaming emerald eyes.

"Where are we going?" She inquired.

"To the mountain’s cliff," Cyrus replied, taking her hand in his. "Do not worry, I am not going to push you off."

Sage’s smile quickly faded, and she burst out laughing nervously. "Oh.. okay.."

They exited the mansion, followed by Venus, Ares, and Snowflake, who was in Sage’s arms.

The sky was orange, and parts of the clouds were dark, indicating that night was approaching. Sage’s interest in what Cyrus wanted to show her grew with each step they took away from the mansion.

She was certain it was significant, but what did he mean by "something maybe someone?" Could it be someone they were going to see?

"You are thinking too much." Cyrus said, jolting her out of her reverie.

"I have no choice." Sage said pouting.

Cyrus grinned. "Did you give pleasure to him?" He asked unexpectedly and cleared his throat.

"Pleasure to who?" Sage was perplexed.

"Darren." Cyrus unexpectedly replied and Sage halted her steps with her eyes widened almost popping out of their sockets.

Cyrus came to a halt and turned to face her. "Is it an awkward question?" He asked flatly.

"Yes, very," Sage said nervously, lowering her head.

"So, did you?" Cyrus asked anticipating an answer.

"Not at all... Our relationship is quite complicated..." Sage trailed and raised her head to see displeasure boldly written on Cyrus’ face. "Nothing is happening between us!" She exclaimed, followed by a deep sigh. "I promise."

"All right," Cyrus said as he turned away and began walking away.

Sage inhaled and walked alongside him. When she thought about Darren, she wasn’t sure if she missed him or not, but he was still someone in his life.

It was soon nighttime. The sky was clear, cloudless, and full of twinkling stars. Sage was taken aback by its beauty.

Cyrus laughed as he saw Sage smiling as she looked up at the sky and said, "You will see something more beautiful than that."

"Really?!" Sage gasped and turned to face Cyrus, who was wearing a proud smile.

They soon arrived at a cliff, and Sage noticed that the air was much colder than it had been at the mansion.

She halted her steps but Cyrus and his panther walked closer almost making Sage believe that they were going to jump off.

"Cyrus!" She called with a panicked gasp.

Cyrus turned to look at her then laughed and walked back to her.

He stood behind her and closed her eyes with his hands. "Calm down," he said quietly.

"W..what?" Sage stuttered and clutched his wrists.

"Just a minute more." He whispered.

Sage could feel his hands getting colder, her chest rose being afraid that she was going to freeze her eyes or something.

"Cyrus?" she asked, swallowing.

He immediately removed his hands from her eyes, allowing her to see the beautiful northern lights, but what drew her attention the most was that the light was in the form of something or someone?. A woman’s face, and she appeared to be extremely familiar. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎

"I have seen her before! The vision! The ice sculpture!" She exclaimed in surprise and looked at Cyrus, who was staring at the light with pain in his eyes.

"Aurora, my mother."
