Married To The Last Ice Dragon-Chapter 66: A melted heart?
Even with the cloudy sky, the next day was bright and sunny, and the forest echoed with a certain maiden’s happy laughter as well as a lazy groan.
Sage was making a beautiful snowman this time. He was wearing a yellow furry scarf that she had brought from the mansion, as well as a large white hat.
She cast a glance at Cyrus, who had been battling in building his snowman for hours. He wasn’t putting forth any effort, and each time the snow scattered, he groaned in frustration and laziness, and Sage burst out laughing.
Venus, Ares, and Snowflake sat next to the dragon ice sculpture and watched the couple as if they were watching a play. Snowflake, as usual, bore a bored expression, whereas the demon panthers both bore proud expressions.
Cyrus’ crooked ball disintegrated once more, and Sage burst out laughing. "You are not putting any effort." She burst out laughing.
Cyrus turned to face her, a sly grin on his face. "Is that so?" He inquired, his gaze drawn to the noseless snowman she had created.
Sage gasped as she realised what Cyrus was planning. She stood in front of the snowman, waving her arms at Cyrus.
"Do not do what I think you will do." She snarled at him.
"I do not think you know what I am thinking parrot," Cyrus said sinisterly, his sly smile still on his face, and took a step towards Sage, causing her to jolt backwards and fall on the snowman, completely destroying it.
Cyrus burst out laughing, while Sage screamed angrily. "Cheat!"
"It is not a competition parrot," Cyrus joked.
Sage, who was watching him laugh, smiled. He appeared to be having a lot of fun, perhaps even too much fun. She snatched a piece of snow and fired it directly at Cyrus’ face.
Cyrus froze in his laughter, while Sage burst out laughing and stood up, dusting the snow from her dress.
"We are even now." She laughed and approached him, dusting the snow off his face.
Sage was flustered when Cyrus’ lip twitched and he grabbed her wrist, placing her palm on his cheek. "Let us work together to build your monstrosity." He murmured, and an unsteady frown appeared on her face.
His words made it difficult for her to decide whether to smile or frown. She finally chose a bright smile.
Cyrus and Sage collaborate to create the perfect snowman. They stood in front of it, proudly smiling, but their gaze was fixed on the empty space where a nose should have been.
"What should we use for the nose?" Cyrus inquired, caressing his chin.
"Usually carrots imported from the Waveil Empire." Sage replied with a pout and her arms crossed across her chest.
"The humans?" Cyrus inquired, his face scornful.
"Yes?" Sage asked, slightly surprised, and looked at him. "What happened to them? Have you met any of them?" She inquired, her eyes wide with curiosity.
"I have killed a lot of them. They are fragile beings, almost extinct if they become involved with the supernatural." Cyrus huffed, knelt, scooped snow, and stood up. "How about I make a nose instead of a carrot?" Cyrus inquired, and his tone of the word carrot was unusual.
"What is the problem?" Sage inquired, perplexed.
"Carrots. Humans must have found a way to grow them in this climate. Smart." He smiled at the end, and the snow in his hands became engulfed in a blue glow.
It folded and squeezed until it was swallowed by the light. When the light faded, it revealed a white crystal in the shape of a three-dimensional cone.
"Perfect for a nose." Cyrus murmured, walked over to the snowman, and positioned the cone as his nose.
"Great." Sage laughed and clapped enthusiastically.
"It has been fun," Cyrus sighed, turning to face her with his hands in his coat pocket.
Sager gave a nod. "It has, and I am glad you are happy." She laughed.
"Happy," Cyrus said quietly, tilting his head to the side. "I am glad." He says this while placing his hand on his chest, near his heart. "It is beating like any other living thing." He closed his eyes and whispered.
Sage’s eyes widened in shock. "W..what?" Was his heart truly frozen?
"Didn’t I tell you?" Cyrus asked, his eyes fluttered open and his ice blue eyes glittered faintly. "I was born with a frozen heart, and it has been melting ever since I melted you."
Sage almost passed out when he heard those words. It was a huge deal! He had told her that his heart was frozen and that his dark state heart was eternally frozen, just like the winter. She had melted his frozen heart?
"I do ..not under..stand." She said it slowly.
"Forget about it then," Cyrus scoffed as he walked away from his panthers.
Sage froze at the spot, her eyes twitching, her brain trying to process the information quickly, and it hurt her head.
"Are you going to stand there all day?" When she heard Cyrus’ question, she broke out of her frozen state and turned to see him holding a Snowflake in his arms.
"N.. no." She stumbled and moved slowly towards him.
At noon, they all returned to the mansion and saw Arthur standing in front of it, staring at the cloudy sky. He appeared extremely pale and sickly, his eyes losing colour and hollow.
Sage came to a halt and gasped, closing her mouth with her hands while Cyrus narrowed his eyes at Arthur.
"You look like a living corpse." He said to Arthur and dropped Snowflake on the ground.
"To be honest, I feel like one of your majesty," Arthur’s voice was raspy and barely audible.
Cyrus hummed with a dull expression.
.
In a room in the mansion, Arthur was laying on a bed with his chest, shirtless, with a black cloth covering the lower part of his back.
His skin was pale and dried almost to the point of breaking, and part of his neck skin was covered in pale green scales.
Cyrus entered the room, folding his shirt sleeves. He was solemn, his gaze fixed on Arthur’s back.
"One of the mage stabbed you. Do you have the dagger with you?" He asked approaching the bed.
"Yes." Arthur replied knowing that Cyrus must have known everything that had happened from his nine tailed fox.
"Your body is turning into a rotten corpse. You are alive but your body is dying." Cyrus said and removed the black cloth exposing a deep wound, pure black and skin was totally rotten. "Sumera, poison of stukus mages." Cyrus revealed, his eyes turned into their silver reptile like form and sharpened dangerously.
