Married To The Last Ice Dragon-Chapter 53: The sea of blood
She opened her eyes expecting to see darkness, but instead found herself in an ice-covered forest, dark and cold.
"What? Where am I?" She asked, gasping, as she looked around the forest.
The trees were completely dead and dried up, with a thick fog slowly rising from the ground, which was strange.
She was supposed to be blindfolded and in a mansion with Cyrus, how did she end up here?
She clenched her fist, expecting a fire to appear, but nothing happened; she felt as if she had lost her powers.
"What?" She asked, shocked, and looked at her hands.
"Cyrus! Cyrus, where are you?!" She called out loudly, looking around until she became dizzy.
"Where am I?" she sighed.
She took another step and shrugged as she felt her feet step into something liquid. It was disgusting, and she was barefoot?
She took a step back, her gaze narrowed at the foggy ground. After a few seconds, the fog lifted, giving her the shock of her life.
"Sea of blood!" She screamed in horror.
The dense fog in front of her had cleared, as if blown away by the wind, revealing the vast red sea in front of her.
It was all blood, not a river but a still and stagnant sea.
Sage could feel her heart pounding as if it were about to burst through her chest. She could hardly breathe and had no idea what was going on.
"Cyrus!" She screamed and turned away to see a man standing in front of her.
He had the appearance of a corpse, with pale green hair and blind pupils. His clothes were torn and his hands were covered in blood. Sage realised he was a dead person, a mage.
"Who are you?" She inquired, but the man remained silent, staring at her with dead eyes.
"You are a mage? Do you know where I.."
"You are not supposed to be here child." His raspy voice made her swallowed hard.
’It seems he has been dead for a long time. He looks so dead.’ She said in her thoughts.
"I have and it was a wretched death." The man unexpectedly said.
"Of course, you can read my thoughts." Sage said and giggled nervously as she tried to control her thoughts from saying any insultive words.
"Do you know where I am sir.. um.. stranger?" Sage asked politely.
"The land of the sea of blood." The man replied, his dead expression stable.
Sage looked behind her at the sea then back at the man. "How did I get here? What is this place?" She asked eagerly hoping that he answered.
"Mages knowledge has awfully being depleted." The man said sounding disappointed.
"Meaning?" Sage asked curiously.
"The sea of blood is supposed to be known by mages. It is a sacred place for lost souls.. mages that had been killed brutally and cannot rest in peace." The man explained and Sage’s jaw dropped.
"How come I know nothing about this?!" Sage asked in shock.
It seemed like there was more to the mages than just protecting their kingdoms from threats.
"I have feared that this would happen.. the lack of knowledge of mages but it seems dear.. that you have been summoned." The man revealed and cleared his throat disgustingly.
Sage stared at him, unable to hide her disgust, and she noticed the mage’s unusually pale lips twitch.
"Summoned? Who would someone me?" Sage asked masking her disgust for the dead mage.
"You are a naive mage, a powerful one and the only fire mage in existence.. there will always be trouble in your life and soon, you won’t be surprised by occurrences that would happen to you." The man said and cleared his throat again harshly.
Sage forced a smile and nodded stiffly. "So you know who I am?" Sage asked.
"Yes and you my dear, you have been terribly deceived." The man replied looking slightly annoyed.
Sage sighed deeply. "Yes, by my father.. I mean Julius." She slowly said.
"Find who summoned you child, step into the sea." The man unexpectedly said and Sage’s eyes twitched in shock.
"What!" She exclaimed dramatically and slowly turned to face the unmoving thick red sea. "Please tell me you are joking?" She asked, her voice tiny.
"You will uncover the truth you want to know, a few will be shown to you, others that are too strong will not be showed in other to avoid you being stuck here forever." The man’s raspy voice came out slow and sounded like it was fading.
Sage’s eyes widened.
It was an opportunity to know the truths of her life, to know why her father.. Julius stabbed her, to know why her aunt Lia killed her mother.
"Who summoned me?" She asked and swallowed hard.
"Only an ancestor is capable of summoning his or her descendant to the sea of blood..." The voice was gone.
Sage looked in the direction, but he were no longer there. She sighed and returned her gaze to the lake.
"Who summoned me?" She asked with a frustrated groan and took a step towards the sea. "Here goes nothing." She squeaked and closed her eyes, taking more steps towards the sea until she could feel her feet in the water, which felt disgusting.
"SAGE!" A familiar deep voice yelled, and she felt a cold hand grab hers.
"Cyrus?!" Her breathing became choppy, and she closed her eyes. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
"SAGE!" This time she heard his voice closer and felt him grab her shoulders.
Sage opened her eyes to find herself in complete darkness, blindfolded.
"Cyrus! Where.." Before she could finish her sentence, she felt Cyrus lift her up and pull her into his arms, tightly embracing her.
"You have gone insane!" He exclaimed in hushed tones, his voice filled with fear?
Sage could feel his body trembling and his strong arms tightening around her.
"No, I am not." Sage stuttered, unsure of what was going on. "Are you okay?" He hadn’t stopped trembling, so she had to ask.
"No."
