Chapter 125: Flare of Ioas

Cyrus sat on his throne, one leg on top of the other, his eyes closed, and a threatening aura emitted from him.

Strands of his hair brushed up against his face, almost completely covering his eyes, and the tips of his hair were completely black.

His lips twitched as his cheek was being supported by his fist and his elbow balanced on the armrest.

Katherine nervously stared at the ice dragon while River wore a sight frown while staring at his friend.

Ashton was present with curious expression as it had been a while since Cyrus had gotten as furious as he was at that moment.

"I urge you to tell the truth because I will not spare you if you lie to me." Cyrus said this with a deep, menacing growl.

"Cyrus, what is this about?" River had to inquire as Katherine’s eyes widened as if she realized something.

"Did you or did you not sneak in a scroll into I and parrot’s room?" Cyrus asked sternly totally ignoring River.

"I..."

"I asked what this is about?!" River raised his voice and Cyrus’ eyes flew open in their silver reptile like form.

"Eventually everyone wants to hurt my wife including me." Cyrus growled clenching his fists until they were paler than usual.

"What?" River was perplexed and looked at Katherine, who had lowered her head. "You want to hurt you best friend?"

"I will never intend to hurt Sage." Katherine whispered and sniffed.

Cyrus rolled his eyes and closed them once again. "You haven’t answered my question, water mage," he spoke calmly but anger could be heard in that serene voice of his.

Katherine was highly intimidated by Cyrus which River noticed.

"You are scaring her!" River shouted at Cyrus.

"Tell her to answer the fucking question!" Cyrus roared without even opening his eyes.

River frowned deeply, his golden eyes sharpened being irritated by Cyrus.

Katherine, sensing the high level of tension in the throne room, spoke up just as he was about to say something. "Yes! I sent the maid Ava to place the wrath of the fire mage scroll in the room."

Cyrus smirked in response to Katherine’s reveal.

"Scroll of the wrath of the fire mage?" River asked in disbelief exposing that he knew about the scroll.

"I had to make her read it somehow," Katherine muttered.

"Did you know that it would magnet an ancient force into her body?" Cyrus asked coolly

"Yes, the flare of Ioas. Ioas was the first fire mage in existence." Katherine replied slowly and looked at Cyrus. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎

"Did you know it will make her feel like she’s being burned alive, which is the most intense pain she has ever felt?" Cyrus inquired once more, this time more calmly.

Katherine gasped. "N..no" she stuttered closing her mouth with her hand. "I did not know it would hurt her!" She exclaimed in shock.

"But it did dear water mage," Cyrus scoffed and chuckled deeply.

River sensing Cyrus’ rage grabbed Katherine’s wrist firmly and she looked at him with tear filled eyes.

"He wants to kill you." River whispered even though he knew Cyrus could still hear him loud and clear.

Katherine’s eyes widened, and she returned her gaze to Cyrus, who was still calm and had his eyes closed. She couldn’t deny that the ice dragon was dangerous, and when River tightened his grip on her wrist, she held her breath and trembled slightly.

"Do not worry," River whispered to calm her down.

Katherine nodded stiffly.

"Did you know she would have a branded mark?" Cyrus erupted from his throne, thundering.

His eyes widened, narrowing in on Katherine, who gasped in terror.

"How about I give you a branded mark?" Cyrus growled deeply and extended his arm towards Katherine.

"Cyrus!" River yelled.

"Calm down, Cyrus," Ashton had to intervene because Cyrus wasn’t himself.

River let go of Katherine’s wrist and stepped in front of her as a shield. "Your normal state and dark state are blending and turning you into a psychopath!" River yelled.

Cyrus scoffed in disbelief.

Ashton appeared beside River placing his hand on River’s shoulder.

"He is enraged about his parrot, but this is not how he is supposed to react. He is preventing his dark state from taking over, which is what is causing this. You must remove the water mage from his sight before he kills her." As Ashton stated, his eyes went completely black as he focused on Cyrus’ hand, which was now glowing brightly.

"I despise dealing with Draco." River groaned, snatched Katherine into his arms, and dashed out of the throne room.

"You are injuring yourself, you are craving to spill blood. Ioas’ flare is intended to be a branded mark on her, and you are well aware of it!" Ashton yelled at Cyrus, who huffed and fisted his fist, causing the glow to fade.

"I do not like it." Cyrus hissed and lowered his head on his throne. "It means the flare has left the mansion. It will only make her more powerful and easy to persuade my dark state to take her fire core as well as those disgusting Statkus mages." Cyrus continued, raking his fingers through his hair.

"I am glad you are calm now," Ashton said, smiling.

"I should have destroyed the flare." Cyrus mumbled, still concerned about Sage.

"Aurora wouldn’t let you destroy it, and now that it is been absorbed by a fire mage, it is impossible to do so without destroying her." Ashton laughed as he finished his sentence.

"You say it as if it is a good thing." Cyrus groaned.

"Why do you think the water mage gave the scroll to your parrot?" Ashton inquired, intrigued.

"To make the parrot powerful. She did it out of stupidity, unaware that the Statkus mages are after parrot and would want her even more now that she is stronger." Cyrus grumbled and rolled his eyes, still raking his fingers through his hair.

"You should visit your parrot." Ashton smiled.

"No." Cyrus stood up, walked down the few steps of stairs, and passed Ashton.

Ashton smirked and appeared in front of him, grinning mischievously. "Are you scared?" He teased.

"Stay away from me and go tease the parrot’s foolish brother or Mirabella." Cyrus frowned.

"Gael has has piqued my interest; I will go tease him." Ashton chuckled.

"Hmph!" Cyrus walked out of the throne room, leaving Ashton behind.
