Married First, Loved Later : A Flash Marriage with My Ex's 'Uncle'-Chapter 394: He Bit the Hand That Fed Him
Chapter 394: He Bit the Hand That Fed Him
Why would he do something like that? Why else?!
"Because he’s jealous of Owen! He thinks Owen stole his rightful place. He’s vicious and ruthless—he wants Owen dead!"
Selina tilted her head slightly, her tone layered with meaning.
"So, Logan resents Young Master Reid... and wants him dead?"
Amelia’s throat bobbed. "Exactly!"
"But here’s the thing."
Selina’s lips curved into a faint, ambiguous smile.
"If Logan really wanted Owen dead, why use such a weak poison? You just said yourself that Logan is cruel and merciless. Would a truly cold-blooded man go easy on his target?"
Everyone froze.
She had a point.
Owen only had a faint scar on his arm—barely visible if he wore long sleeves. That hardly counted as being poisoned.
If Logan truly hated Owen, and had such a golden opportunity, why wouldn’t he go all the way and kill him? Why leave him alive to testify?
It could only mean one thing: Logan never poisoned anyone at all.
And not to mention, the surveillance clearly showed Logan never left the courtyard. How could he have poisoned Amelia and Owen if he was never near them?
"But you, Young Master Reid..." Selina continued, voice calm but piercing.
"You were the one caught sneaking into Mrs. Perry’s room with a bottle in your hand. And right after that, both of you were poisoned."
"And then... you both pointed fingers at Logan. Don’t you think that’s just a little too convenient?"
People exchanged uneasy glances.
Yeah.
It was a little too perfect.
Like the whole thing had been orchestrated—specifically to take down Mr. Reid.
Amelia’s face twisted with rage. "Selina, you’re spouting nonsense!"
Selina just smiled and shook her head gently, like she was being patient with a child.
"Mrs. Perry, there’s no need to get upset. Oh right—if Young Master Reid was the one who poisoned you, wouldn’t the bottle still be in his room?"
"Why don’t we have someone check? Who knows, maybe we’ll get a little surprise."
Before Selina had even finished, the officers had already sent someone upstairs.
Moments later, the butler returned, looking conflicted—but his words rang loud and clear through the room.
"Ma’am, we did find a bottle in Young Master Reid’s room. The police tested the powder inside, and it matches the substance that caused your scarring. His fingerprints were the only ones on the bottle... Would you like Young Master Reid to apologize to Mr. Reid before this blows up even further?"
Right after that, the officers came down the stairs, their expressions grim.
Not only had they found the poison and the bottle, but Owen’s phone had a full plan saved on it—outlining every detail: the reason for coming to Pear Blossom Estate, and step-by-step instructions on how to poison and frame Logan.
Worst of all, Owen had staged the entire thing—then called the police, just to put on this ridiculous midnight performance in front of an audience!
As the butler finished speaking, Amelia looked as if the air had been choked out of her.
Selina was honestly a bit shocked.
So there was evidence in Owen’s room? And not just that—why announce it so loudly? That was basically telling everyone: Owen is the culprit.
This butler had served the Perry Family for decades, well into his sixties. He’d watched Amelia grow up and had been planted here as a Perry Family "watchdog" to keep tabs on Logan.
He was supposed to be loyal to Perry.
But now...
Selina’s pupils contracted. She instinctively turned to look at Logan.
Unless—Logan had already bought him off long ago.
Amelia and Grandpa Perry probably thought the butler was one of theirs, but in truth, he was Logan’s man all along.
No wonder, no matter what Perry Family tried to do over the years, Logan always seemed one step ahead.
Selina suddenly met Logan’s gaze.
It was calm. Serene. Unbothered.
As if the butler’s actions had nothing to do with him at all—like everything that happened was simply Owen reaping what he sowed.
Selina’s heartbeat quickened as she looked away.
She couldn’t help but wonder—had she ever done anything to cross Logan?
Because this man was terrifying.
Amelia had always thought she held the Perry Family firmly in her grasp.
But in reality, Logan had been slowly hollowing it out from the inside—piece by piece.
Selina blinked innocently.
"So, Mrs. Perry, now that the real culprit behind your disfigurement has been found... what do you plan to do?"
Her tone turned subtly mocking.
"Since the police are here, shouldn’t they take Owen down to the station? And of course, we mustn’t go easy on him just because he’s part of the Reid Family, right? Let the law handle it, whatever the sentence may be."
She was throwing Amelia’s own words right back at her.
Amelia nearly ground her teeth to dust.
"T-this must be some kind of misunderstanding. Owen, he—"
"Mrs. Perry, surely you’re not trying to cover for the criminal?" Selina gasped, feigning shock.
"When you thought the poisoner was your biological son, you said justice must be served—even if it meant punishing your own flesh and blood. But now that it turns out to be your adopted son, suddenly it’s all just a misunderstanding?"
"What’s wrong? Your face doesn’t hurt anymore? I thought the scarring was severe? Or is your outrage based on who’s to blame, not what happened?"
She gave a slow, theatrical shrug.
"Guess it just depends on what’s being served at the table~"
A laugh broke out somewhere in the crowd, followed by murmured chatter:
"She was so fierce when it was Mr. Reid. Acted like he’d committed some unspeakable crime."
"And now she’s all ’it’s a misunderstanding’? She’s not even trying to hide how biased she is."
"Maybe she wasn’t just a bystander in this. What if Mrs. Reid helped Owen set Logan up?"
"Wouldn’t surprise me. They both pointed fingers so quickly—and now she’s floundering because the truth came out."
"I... you..."
Amelia’s face turned crimson, her whole body trembling with rage.
What could she say?
How could she say it?
If she defended Owen, she’d be confirming that they had plotted together against Logan.
But if she allowed Owen to take the fall...
Could she really bring herself to do it?
Selina, that venomous little witch!
Just like her mother—manipulative and cruel!
"Mrs. Perry," Selina’s voice broke through her thoughts again, light and teasing, "you gonna speak up? Was this a coordinated takedown of Logan, or are you just an innocent bystander caught in the crossfire?"
"I..."
Arghhhh!
Amelia screamed inwardly. She knew it—today, she had lost.
She had to stay as Logan’s ’mother.’ No one could suspect otherwise.
Clenching her jaw, she forced out the words, slow and deliberate: "I didn’t know anything... Logan is my son. I would never harm him."
"Ohhh..." Selina’s voice was calm, final. "So it was all Owen’s doing, then."
She looked around the room.
"Turns out, the kind, soft-hearted Young Master Reid who ’couldn’t bear to kill a single ant’... poisoned and disfigured Mrs. Perry just to frame Logan."
Ignoring the murderous glare Amelia threw at her, Selina added with a smirk, "Guess that’s what you call a backstabbing little wolf, huh? What do you think, Logan?"
Logan’s tone was warm and breezy.
"Yeah. Gotta be careful who you trust... or you’ll end up raising a snake in your own home."
Selina nodded immediately. fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓
"Don’t worry. I won’t make the same mistake Mrs. Perry did—because I’d never raise someone else’s child."
She sighed dramatically.
"You know, I really feel for Mrs. Perry. She abandoned her own son for an adopted one. And what did she get in return? Not gratitude. Not loyalty. Just betrayal. Her ’son’ used her as a tool, poisoned her, scarred her, all to climb higher. Who would’ve thought? I’m honestly heartbroken!"
Logan: "..."
