Manaless Mage-Chapter 229: Nathan Vs Susan[3]
Chapter 229: Nathan Vs Susan[3]
"Luminous wall!!" Susan hurriedly casted another spell, summoning a thick wall of radiant light in front of her just before the sword hit her.
Twissh!!
The sword struck the light wall instead, its blade lightly penetrating the wall before getting stuck in the middle.
"Tsk." Nathan let out a low hiss, hurriedly pulling his blade out of the wall.
However, that short moment gave Susan time, enough time to finally cast another spell.
"Light Blessing!" She shouted, and a powerful surge of mana suddenly bursted out of the body, briefly enveloping the whole stage.
Following the activation of her elemental blessing, her body was immediately enveloped in a bright white light, which shone all across the hall.
"Damn it..." Nathan mumbled, squinting his eyes slightly at the sight of the blinding light emanating from the Elementalist. "This is what I’ve been trying to avoid."
But his expression betrayed his words, as his lips slowly curled into a wide smile.
The elemental blessing of the rank one Elementalist; he was curious to see how powerful it’ll be. He was also curious, to see how he would fare against it with his current skills!
After a few seconds, the light emanating from Susan finally died down, revealing her appearance to Nathan and the rest of the audience.
"W-what...?" Nathan mumbled in surprise, as his eyes landed on Susan.
Gasp!
A series of gasp also echoed all around the hall, the audience shocked at the Elementalist’s unexpected transformation.
Floating all around Susan were tiny dots of light, especially around her hair, adorning it like tiny fairies.
Her eyes radiated with bright white light, the mere sight of them enchanting the audience.
However, the most notable change on her body were the pair of light wings jutting out of her back.
Their forms were a little rough around the edges, with tiny dots of white light hovering around them.
They slowly fluttered behind her back, and her body was gently lifted off the ground.
Her already high beauty was further heightened by the activation of her elemental blessing, giving her the appearance of an angel.
Hearts immediately appeared on the eyes of most of the students, and chants of Susan’s name and praises started sounding all around the stage.
Some male students even shamelessly professed their love to her at that moment, stretching their hands in awe towards the stage.
Nonetheless, Susan ignored them all, keeping her eyes on the opponent in front of her.
The wounds inflicted on her by Nathan had completely healed, leaving not even a single trace that they had ever been present.
It was one of the reasons why facing light Elementalists was very annoying; their ability to easily heal their injuries as long as they had enough mana.
"Wow... i sure wasn’t expecting that." Nathan said, pointing his blade up at her.
"Let’s see if it packs as much power as its beauty." He said, his lips slowly curling into a smirk.
"Don’t worry... it does." Susan said, swiftly drawing the long sword hanging by her waist.
"I’ll be going all out now, don’t lose too fast... Nathan lane." She said, narrowing her eyes at the combat mage.
’I was planning to reserve this for the final... but I don’t see how I can beat him without going all out.’ She mumbled inwardly, pointing the tip of the blade towards Nathan.
"Don’t worry, that won’t happen." Nathan muttered, flashing a wide grin at the Elementalist.
"Lance Burst!" Susan shouted, hurriedly casting a spell.
Whirrr!!
Fwiisshhh!
A large amount of light rapidly gathered around the tip of her blade, before blasting towards Nathan at terrifying speed.
Seeing the attack rapidly closing in on him, Nathan rapidly channeled mana into his legs, swiftly dashing to the side.
Fwoomm!!
The beam immediately crashed on the ground he previously stood, going off in a powerful explosion of radiant light.
Swoosh!
After escaping the attack, Nathan deftly twisted his torso, unleashing a powerful mana slash wave towards Susan.
However, Susan effortlessly evaded it by moving to the side, utilizing the light wings on her back to further enhance her speed.
The slash wave crashed into the barrier covering the stage, instantly disintegrating into yellow particles.
"Is that all you got?" Susan muttered, stretching her other hand towards Nathan. "If so, then it won’t be enough."
Thwoomm!
"Nova beam!" She suddenly shouted, and a powerful beam of light immediately shot from her palm, heading towards Nathan at terrifying speed.
Nathan hurriedly pumped mana through his sword, swiftly swinging it towards the incoming beam.
He could have tried to dodge it, but the attack was just too fast! He only reacted on instinct, using the only weapon in his hands to try to block the attack.
Whoosh!!
His blade collided with the beam mid-air, the force behind the collision sending a small shockwave through the air.
He quickly tried to deflect the attack, however, it was too powerful.
The dense amount of mana flowing within the beam clashed against the mana coating his blade, rapidly overpowering it.
’Ugh... so this is the power granted by her blessing... so powerful!’ He thought, feeling his hands and legs quake under the weight of the attack.
Nonetheless, he wasn’t planning on giving up. He refused to be overwhelmed by a single attack!
Noticing that the mana on his sword kept wavering despite his attempts to keep it steady, he hurriedly focused majority of the mana to the tip of the blade.
"Argh!!" He let out a loud grunt, as he harnessed even more mana through his hands.
Using the enhanced strength from the mana, he swiftly swung his sword, finally deflecting the beam to the side using a reinforced trail of mana.
Boom!
The beam kept flying through the air for a few seconds, before striking the ground a few meters away from him.
’He blocked that?!’ Susan thought, her eyes widening slightly in surprise.
However, she still wasn’t fazed, as she was fully sure this fight would end in her victory.
After deflecting that attack, Nathan swiftly twirled his blade in the air, harnessing mana through it as he did so.
"Piercing blade!" His voice rung through the stage as he suddenly thrusted the blade towards Susan.
Swoosh!!
A thin, yellow line of mana immediately shot out from the tip of his sword, hurtling towards Susan like a laser.
’You really think that will work?!’ Susan thought, stretching her hand at the incoming attack.
"Luminous shield!" She shouted, swiftly conjuring a short shield of light to protect herself from the incoming attack.
Within seconds, the thin mana blast clashed against the light shield, striking it with immense force.
Swiishh!!
However, contrary to her expectations, the thin line of mana immediately pierced through the light shield, heading straight for her.
Spurt!
’What?!’ Her eyes widened in shock, as the mana blast unexpectedly pierced into her left shoulder, searing through the other end.
’What kind of technique is that?!’ She grunted in pain, blood spraying out of her shoulder.
That single strike completely tore through her shoulder joints, and her arm dangled weakly by the side.
’I can’t feel my left arm...’ She thought, gnashing her teeth in pain.
Nonetheless, Nathan didn’t plan on letting her relax. He could see another chance to attack, and he was going to take it!
’Flash step!’ He thought, rapidly pumping mana into his legs.
Whoosh! ƒrēenovelkiss.com
Using mana to propel himself, he swiftly lunged towards Susan, reappearing behind her in that seemed like an instant.
’An opening!’ He thought, swinging his sword between Susan’s wings.
Whirr!!
However, bright rays of light rapidly gathered in the middle of the wings, causing his eyes to widen in shock.
’Shit!’ He quickly tried leaping backwards, to get away from the trajectory of the beam that was rapidly building up.
But—
"Nova Beam!" Susan abruptly shouted, activating the spell.
Thwoom!!
In the next second, a powerful beam of light shot out from the middle of her wings, slamming into Nathan’s torso with great force.
"Argh!" Nathan grunted in pain, as the beam instantly sent him flying through the air.
Thwik!
However, he swiftly stabbed his blade into the ground, using it as leverage to balance himself.
"Nice technique." Susan coldly muttered, gently stretching her left arm.
The wound left by that attack had completely healed, and the only sign that an injury ever existed there was the small tear on her top.
The white dots floating all around her weren’t just for aesthetics; they were meant to heal her wounds whenever she had an injury.
"Guess now, it’s my turn." She said, stretching her left hand towards Nathan.
"Luminous spears!" She shouted, summoning ten spears of light before shooting them towards Nathan.
Swoosh!!
Swoosh!
The spears flew through the air at rapid speed, closing in on the combat mage’s almost in an instant.
’This again?!’ Nathan thought, letting out a low hiss as he pulled his blade from the ground.
He hurriedly harnessed his mana into his blade, swiftly swinging it towards the first spear that reached him.
Tweep!
Tweep!
But all of a sudden, the tip of the spear started beeping weirdly, and in the next second—
Boom!
The spear detonated, going off in a powerful explosion of light, and Nathan’s eyes widened in shock.
